“I’ve lived for soddin’ ever, Buffy. I’ve done everything. Done things with you I can’t spell, but… I’ve never… been close… to anyone. Least of all, you. ‘Til last night. All I did was… hold you, watch you sleep. And it was the best night of my life. So, yeah… I’m… terrified.”
“Look at me! I… LOVE… you.
You’re all I bloody think about…
Dream about… You’re in my gut,
my throat… I’m drowning in you,
Summers. Im drowning in you.”
“Hey, look at me. I’m not asking you for anything. When I say, “I love you,” it’s not because I want you or because I can’t have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I’ve seen your kindness and your strength. I’ve seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You’re a hell of a woman. You’re the one, Buffy.“

Spike (Buffy the Vampire Slayer 7x20 - “Touched”)
“Now you listen to me. I’ve been alive a lot longer then you and died a lot longer then that. I’ve seen things you couldn’t imagine and done things I prefer you didn’t. I don’t exactly have a reputation for thinking.. I follow my blood.. which doesn’t exactly follow in the direction of my brain.. I’ve made a lot of mistakes and a lot of bloody calls. One hundred plus years, there’s only one things I’m sure of: you. Hey.. look at me. I’m not asking you for anything. When I say I love you, it’s not because I want you or I can’t have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I’ve seen your kindness and your strength. I adore this episode; I truly do. The inevitable has finally happened and Buffy is having trouble finding the strength or confidence to continue leading the girls to the final battle after the horrific events at the vineyard and then getting kicked out of her own house. Only Spike still believes in her and he gives her the strength to go on and find the scythe that ultimately is the reason they win the final battle in “Chosen”. I absolutely love the juxtaposition of the couples in this episode. I think it is extremely powerful how Kirshner wrote all the “bedroom” scenes. Willow is facing her fears of not only becoming “dark Willow” again but of letting go of Tara by having sex with Kennedy. Meanwhile Faith and Wood are also having sex which Faith just thinks is a one-night fling but Wood will prove can be so much more. Xander and Anya prove yet again that they still have feelings for each other and then they spend one last night with each other. The best part is that while all this sex is going on with those three pairs, Spike is just holding Buffy and stroking her hair while she sleeps. Genius! We had Spuffy sex in season sex (oops I mean six) but like Buffy said “[they] were never close”. This is such a beautiful moment where we truly get to see them be close. Spike’s speech to her is simply breath taking and has been known to move me to tears. Just a beautiful episode.
