Oct. 7, ‘76 || The Three Broomsticks

Benjy sat down two mugs of butterbeer, pulling one to himself and passing the other to his classmate. “This one is on me,” he said with a wink.

It was a beautiful day out in Hogsmeade, albeit a bit nippy from the autumn winds. Benjy luckily had grabbed a table by the street view window, and the sun was creeping through and shining brilliantly on the polished wood of the table. He took a sip of the butterbeer, wiping the foam off the top of his lip when he placed it back in front of him. “So, did you see the ad for the casino night coming up? I’m going to have to ask my parents to send me some more money so I can get a suit. Though, I don’t really know how to tie a tie.”

Rihanna's "Yeah, I Said It" Lyrics: Meaning of Sexy 'Anti' Song

There are power ballads like “Love on the Brain” and alternative trap hits including “Consideration” featuring SZA, but Rihanna’s “Yeah, I Said It” certainly takes the cake as the sexiest song off Anti. The sexually-charged lyrics focus on a romance without the strings, with Rihanna being sure to get descriptive in her raunchiest lyrics on the album.

The 27-year-old Barbadian recording artist dropped Anti for free on Tidal Wednesday night. Since then, over one million listeners have downloaded the entire album, and nearly 14 million streams occurred in its first 13 hours on the music streaming service.

Clearly, Rihanna quenched her “Navy’s” thirst for new music with “Yeah, I Said It.”

Below are the lyrics, provided by Genius:

“I want you to homicide it / Going slow and I want you to pop it / And I think I kinda like ya / Up against the wall, we don’t need a title / Yeah, I said it, yeah I said it, baby / Yeah, I said it, fuck a title.”

The song continues to heat up as Rihanna sings about convincing her man to go to unexplored parts during their romp in the sheets. It’s a more intense version of the notorious bad girl, who can be known to shake things up like this in at least a few songs off her albums.

“Skin,” one of Rihanna’s lesser known tracks off the 2010 album Loud is nearly just as raunchy, as Rihanna demands she wants to see nothing else but her partner’s flesh.

On Anti, no song comes even nearly as close as sexual as “Yeah, I Said It,” though some parts of “Work” do come close, specifically when Rihanna croons,

“Nobody touch me in the righteous, nobody text me in a crisis.”

Abstract
A wide variety of subjects are presented at the annual American Society of Neural Therapy and Repair meeting every year, as typified by this summary of the 2014 meeting. Parkinson’s disease-related presentations were again the most popular topic, with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and stroke being close behind. Other disorders included Huntington’s disease, brain cancer, and bipolar disorders. Several studies were related to multiple diseases, and many studies attempted to reveal more about the disease process. The use of scaffolds, drugs, and gene therapy as disease models and/or potential therapies were also featured. An increasing proportion of presentations related to stem cells, with the study of multiple stem cell types being the most common. Induced pluripotent stem cells were increasingly popular, including two presentations each on a muscle-derived dedifferentiated cell type and cells derived from bipolar patients. Other stem cells, including neural stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells, umbilical cord blood cells, and embryonic stem cells, were featured. More than 55% of the stem cell studies involved transplantation, with human-derived cells being the most frequently transplanted, while rats were the most common recipient. Two human autologous studies for spinal cord injury and hypoxia-derived encephalopathy, while a further three allogenic studies for stroke and spinal cord injury, were also featured. This year’s meeting highlights the increasing promise of stem cells and other therapies for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders.

Vivekananda Ashram to remain a heritage site, High Court rules

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court today dismissed an application by Vivekananda Ashrama Kuala Lumpur to obtain leave for a judicial review against the National Heritage Department’s decision to gazette the property surrounding the 110-year-old building as a heritage site.
High Court Judge (Appellate and Special Powers Division) Datuk Hanipah Farikullah set aside the application after allowing the Attorney-General’s chambers (AGC)’s preliminary objection, ordering no cost.
Senior federal counsel Mazlifah Ayob who appeared for the four respondents, namely the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, National Heritage Department Commissioner Dr Zainah Ibrahim and Tourism and Culture Ministry and its minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, said the PO was raised on grounds that the application was premature and academic.
“Our objection is that the application was filed prematurely, before the appeal process to the minister was completely exhausted.
"Their appeal to the tourism minister via a letter was dated on Oct 7, 2015 but before the minister could decide the appeal, this application was filed on Oct 13, 2015,” she said after the matter came up for hearing in chambers today.
She added that subsequently the minister had refused the appeal and maintained the designation of the land as a heritage site.
She said the objection was also raised as the attack should be on the decision of the tourism minister and not against the commissioner of the department.
On Oct 13, last year, the company Vivekananda Ashrama Kuala Lumpur filed the judicial review action through law firm Messrs David Gurupatham & Koay, at the High Court Registry here.
The applicant had sought to set aside the decision of the Department and its Commissioner Dr Zainah Ibrahim made on July 15, 2015 to designate Lot 33, Section 72, No. 220, Jalan Sambanthan, Brickfields here, as a heritage site.
The company also sought for an order to compel the Department and the Commissioner to reconsider its proposal that only the Vivekananda Ashrama building be designated as heritage site, so that it could develop the surrounding land.
Counsel Datuk David Gurupatham represented the applicant.

'Anti' Deluxe Version Has 3 New Tracks: "Goodnight Gotham," "Pose," and "Sex With Me"

Rihanna’s eighth studio album Anti was released in a midst of speculation and leaks, with the official release taking place Wednesday night exclusively on Jay Z’s streaming service, Tidal. As fans relished in Anti’s free download and streaming options, with one million downloads and nearly 14 million streams occurring in it’s first fifteen hours, Rihanna’s team was already planning the album’s second release, with a deluxe version coming Friday.

Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday night a deluxe version of Anti would be released, featuring three additional songs: “Goodnight Gotham,” “Pose” and “Sex With Me,” which were all previously leaked over the course of Anti’s release week.

Indian economy grows 7.3 pct in Oct-Dec quarter

India’s economic growth is seen at 7.6% for the current fiscal, the highest since the current methodology was adopted to compute national income and compared with 7.2% a year before, according to the advance estimate released by the Central Statistics Office on Monday, although gross domestic product (GDP) expanded at a slower pace of 7.3% in the October-December period against a revised 7.7% in the previous quarter.

Analysts, however, termed the advance estimate “ambitious,” saying the required growth in the fourth quarter to realise this projection is as high as 7.9%, which looks difficult, especially when other high-frequency indicators, including a 13th straight month of export contraction, subdued manufacturing activity, auto sales and consumer goods output don’t suggest a high-growth trajectory.

The government said the better-than-expected headline growth figures were the result of the reforms undertaken by it, and added that, going forward, things could look better as investment intentions would translate into activities on the ground.

What also surprised the analysts was the advance estimate of a 7.6% expansion in private final consumption expenditure for 2015-16. This means the PFCE is required to grow some 12% in the last quarter to reach the projection, as it has risen only 6.1% in the April-December period from a year before.

“Given that GDP data for Q3 is released with a shorter time lag than in other quarters, the quarterly results are available for a curtailed sample of listed entities, which opens up the possibility for subsequent revisions,” said Aditi Nayar, senior economist at ICRA. With the pick-up in average CPI inflation and narrower year-on-year contraction in the WPI in the third quarter versus Q2, the GDP and gross value added (GVA) deflators were positive in the just-concluded quarter, Nayar added.

However, there were some pleasant surprises for policymakers in the projections, too. Nominal GDP, which has grown 8.1% in the first three quarters, is estimated to expand 8.6% in the current fiscal. The mid-year review had put the nominal GDP growth at 8.2% for 2015-16, against the budgeted 11.5%. A higher nominal GDP growth will help the government in its attempt to adhere to the fiscal deficit target of 3.9% of GDP for the current fiscal, especially when there is a public debate on raising government spend to boost the economy.

The fact that the country witnessed a second straight year of drought in 2015, and the rabi harvest is unlikely to be a bumper one, means farm and allied sector growth is expected to contract 1% in the current fiscal, even on a 2.4% contraction a year before. This means rural private demand is unlikely to rise significantly any time soon.

Despite the robust expansion in the government’s capital expenditure, growth of gross fixed capital formation slowed considerably to a five-quarter low of 2.8% in the third quarter, highlighting the muted trend in private sector investments. Private consumption expenditure remained the key engine of growth in the December quarter despite the sluggish rural sentiment.

The GDP growth in the first three quarters of this fiscal now stands at 7.6%, 7.7% and 7.3%, respectively. The growth rate for the April-June quarter was revised sharply upward from a provisional 7% to to 7.7%, which has driven up the projections for the entire 2015-16 fiscal. Despite a slowdown in the third quarter, India’s economic growth still outpaced China’s 6.8% for the same period.

However, even in the data for the third quarter, the analysts questioned a 12.6% spurt in the GVA in manufacturing for the third quarter and much higher than the IIP for manufacturing for the period, despite the floods in a major commercial centre like Chennai in late November and early December.

Net exports growth is seen -6.3% in FY16 against 0.8% last year, persisting with the trend of negative contribution to GDP from foreign trade. With the gap of 0.2 percentage point between GVA and GDP estimates of Q3, government sources said the manner in which tax revenue was accounted by the finance ministry also determined this differential and the problem could be technically more challenging for the last quarter, when subsidy outgo could be substantially higher than Q3.

While commodity price deflation is hitting metal companies and upstream oil producers, firms making value-added items have improved margins as their input costs have fallen sharper than output costs, says the government. However, independent analysts say that the CSO’s GVA growth numbers still lacked full credence.

“Even with the kind of margins and profits which we are looking at in the corporate sector, the GVA number seems to be a little elevated,” said Abheek Barua, chief economist at HDFC Bank. However, there is a different take too. “Initial numbers seem to suggest that growth is stronger than earlier thought, but the GVA number, which is a more important number, is not throwing big surprises as per our estimates,” said Saugata Bhattacharya, chief economist at Axis Bank. “Inventory growth has come down to 5.5% from 20.3% last year. That means there’s been a massive drawdown in stock, which means there’s still good demand in the economy,” he said.
