For those who feel like no one listens because they’re “too young”
“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.“ 1 Timothy 4:12.
These words were written by Paul to Timothy. Timothy was a very young leader in the church at Ephesus. Just like we constantly are told by those older than us, Timothy had his fair share of “What do you know? You’re young and inexperienced.” Paul saw this. What did he do? He encouraged Timothy to continue doing what he was doing. He encouraged Timothy to be an example to everyone.
When it comes to God, your age doesn’t matter. He has great plans for you and wants to see you accomplish great things. Don’t let anyone tell you you’re too young. Be an example to everyone. Show them God’s love.
These words got me through some tough times at the end of my time at the church I grew up in. These words still help me today. Because, no matter how old I get, someone is older and thinks they know better than I do (Which is sometimes the case. I’m not going to overlook wise counsel. I just don’t want to hear things like “You’re just a kid. You have no clue what you’re doing.”).
Just remember that there’s a difference between wise counsel from those who have experienced what you’re going through and not listening to you because of your age and/or inexperience. Soak up the wisdom of those who have come before you like a sponge. Wisdom and experience are important. But don’t listen to those who wish to discount you and what you’re doing because of your age.
You are important. You matter. God loves you. Unlike people, God looks at your heart (1 Samuel 16:7). It is God we should aim to please, not others. If you show God to others through your speech, love, life, etc., He will see what you’re doing and reward you (Colossians 3:23-24).
I’ll repeat it because I know I need to hear it as well: - You are important. - You matter. - God loves you.

7 - Favorite protagonist? The narrator in du Maurier’s Rebecca is very relateable on an awkward, social-anxiety way. Also the version of Elizabeth Bennet in Sittenfeld’s re-telling of Pride & Prejudice.
10 - Favorite opening line in a novel? I sort of feel like saying anything other than Austen’s Pride and Prejudice here would be a crime, so I’ll stick with that, I think. Just to be safe. Also, if we’re counting short stories, then I am also quite fond of Saki’s Gabriel-Ernest: “There is a wild beast in your woods”
12 - What would you like to see more of in literature in the future? Even though it might be slightly unimaginative, I absolutely adore re-tellings of classics and fairy tales; I can never get enough of them which is why I’m absolutely loving this current trend of revisionist mythmaking going on across different media.
23 - What’s the most valuable writing tip you’ve encountered? - ‘Write what you know’ which has got to be the most hated-on tip in the existence of literary self-help, but I’ve always interpreted it to mean that one should write about feelings one has encountered. Like, the actual plot can be as unrealistic and absurd as can be, as long as the feelings and emotions behind it have a substance that is known to the writer.
7, 12, 17, 21, 23, 41, 55, 68, 70! and i love you, too!!!
thank you love <33
7. Ever been/are you such a hardcore fan of an actor actress you watched/will watch any movie they were/will be in That pretty much sums up my love for Michael Fassbender & Keira Knightley, don’t mind me.
12. Are you against book-to-movie adaptations God no, they’re like the BEST movies ! Harry Potter movies are the best example tbh.
17. Favorite indie film Marie Antoinette, Sofia Coppola 2006
21. Favorite kids movie Mrs Doubtfire, must have seen it 193837382923738919133 times already, one of the best movies EVER.
23. Favorite movie soundtrack Marie Antoinette, Sofia Coppola 2006 Pride & Prejudice, Joe Wright 2005 Can’t choose, they’re complementary
41. Actors you’d like to see work together
Michael Fassbender & Colin Morgan, and please let me adopt -marry- their love child.
55. Favorite sci-fi movie Avatar was fucking amazing, the love I have for Sam Worthington probably helps a bit
68. A movie that sparked an interesting conversation Shutter Island, Martin Scorsese 2010 Remember talking about it for hours with my mom, stuff like “do you really think he’s crazy or is he just faking it” something like that
70.The first movie you saw on it’s opening night Geez, not sure tbh. Probably one of the Harry Potter movies or a Disney movie
5. most likely to get a really crappy tattoo and immediately regret it Tricky. Definitely Tricky. She’s gotten two so far. One on the small of her back, one on the right shoulder. Risha thought she would have learned after the first bad tattoo but nope.
7. most likely to be two hours late to their own event Tricky again. Likely because she’s hungover. (Again.)
12. most likely to take selfies at inappropriate times … and again, the winner is Tricky! In her defense, she figures that taking selfies mid-job shows how dedicated she is, plus these inappropriate selfie holos sell pretty well according to Risha.
23. most likely to drop obscure references nobody understands This one has to go to Audrien, since she’s the academic and full of facts and trivia that no one knows cares about with the possible exception of Lana. She’s a total snob about it, though, as a Sith would be and the fact that no one understands her references just goes to show they’re all beneath her. (But she knew that already.)
Temprien also has a tendency to drop obscure pop culture references. Usually related to Coruscanti boy bands. It’s… embarassing… to say the least.
Ok little backstory so, me @ceeblathers and @ghostkitten69 were playing with the idea that Lewis after coming back, still has some anger issues, and Vivi was trying to help him out. She tried some magic and things went wonky and Lewis ended up acting intoxicated in some way.
So sorta kinda drug reference to weed, but not really. (aside from a story about a coworker that inspired part of this story.) But its not really accurate to that. Its more of a mix of drunk and high.
[5/6/2015 11:31:28 PM] Ecto: oh man i just had a thought. cause earlier i was talking about vivi using crystal magic to help calm lewis. cause some crystals are supposed to have calming properties. but what if she overdoes it and lewis ends up the ghostly equivalent to stoned [5/6/2015 11:34:05 PM] Ecto: and he just is kinda staring off into space, and asking arthur really weird questions [5/6/2015 11:35:05 PM] Cee: omfg [5/6/2015 11:35:24 PM] Cee: “arthur… what…. what do you think horses think about" [5/6/2015 11:35:32 PM] Ecto: omg [5/6/2015 11:35:35 PM] Cee: “VI WHAT DID YOU DO “ [5/6/2015 11:36:21 PM] Ecto: “arthur, do you every wonder if plates get sad when one breaks?” [5/6/2015 11:36:29 PM] Ecto: “lewis….what…even” [5/6/2015 11:36:44 PM] Cee: he just starts sobbing [5/6/2015 11:36:49 PM] Cee: “they’d never know"
I'm SO happy you want to write drabbles, because I'm dying for another Marcel/Harry&Louis-story (because I know you also love Marcel). I'll give you some numbers, but you could write literally anything with Marcel and I would love it! Here it goes: 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 23, 29, 33, 35, 39, 50. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU <3
Okay I decided to do #4 for this, since you listed 50, which was author’s choice. Sorry for being selfish, I hope it turned out okay! MARCEL FOREVER!!
4. “Do you…well, I mean — I could give you a massage?”
This was the third consecutive night that Louis and Marcel had stayed late at work together. Louis was used to staying until 5:30 or 6:00 every once in a while, but with their software conversion project going live at the end of the week, they’d been stuck in Marcel’s stuffy office until 7:00 or 8:00 at night lately, powering through dinner as they worked out bugs and ironed out last minute details. It looked like tonight they’d be staying even later than ever.
Louis sighed. He’d run out to get sandwiches for dinner, and he felt a pinch of concern as he stood in the doorway, watching Marcel work. Marcel was hunched over his computer with a deeply furrowed brow, his heavily gelled hair breaking free of its forced taming and falling into his face. Every few minutes he’d rub at his back and neck, wincing, but getting right back to typing and scrolling.
He needs to fix that chair. Louis thought, shaking his head in frustration. He knows he needs better lumbar support.
On this day: Fans vote for an IC Title match to take place on the 1,000th episode of RAW between Christian and a mystery opponent, which turns out to be The Miz, who takes advantage of Captain Charisma’s ankle injury to hit the Skull Crushing Finale to win his first Intercontinental Championship. (7/23/12)
If you’re wondering why 5/12 is jeanmarco day, it’s because it’s the halfway point between Jean(4/7) and Marco’s(6/16) bday! I saw a lot of art on twitter celebrating it, so I wanted to celebrate it, too. :D
Hello! So I was browsing my dashboard, and that long and wonderful 616 Tony post popped up and just whacked me over the head with how much I still don't know. Getting a jump into Marvel is proving difficult with Marvel's tendency to weave everything together so I constantly feel lost. Can you rec any good arcs or series to get me started right? I've read a few one-offs that seemed safe, Winter Soldier, Death of the Stacys, stuff like that. But I especially want some Tony. Any Recs? Thanks!!
if you don’t feel like going all the way back to the beginning, but still want to get a feel for pre-civil war era tony, then iron man v3is the way to go
“extremis” (2005, iron man v4 #1-6) is the usual gateway into civil war, and the last big iron man reboot that i personally enjoyed
the most recent reboots are all-new all-different iron man (currently in its 2nd major arc) and international iron man (currently in its 1st major arc), both written by brian michael bendis. i was actually enjoying international iron man, and the tony characterization etc in the 2nd ANAD iron man arc was an improvement over the 1st. still, definitely not the best 616 tony intro. definitely definitely not (and i personally just dropped both of those titles because they feed into the “civil war 2″ event, also written by bendis, and as of issue #2, i want to have nothing to do with it)
