The name “Pink Floyd” was created by Syd Barrett by juxtaposing the names of two Carolina bluesmen - Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.
But before settling on that name, in the earliest days of the band, when Waters, Mason and Wright were studying architecture in London, they played music in different groups. They were called the Sigma 6, the Meggadeaths, the Abdabs and the Screaming Abdabs, Leonard’s Lodgers, the Spectrum Five and the Tea Set, and all that in the years 1963-65. In 1965, the beginning of the Barrett era, they were known as the Pink Floyd Sound, and later just The Pink Floyd. The “The” disappeared with Barrett leaving the band in 1968, and since then the band is just known as Pink Floyd.
I mean, I always thought Hex was named that to match Ace with a snazzy three letter nickname, but I didn’t get until right now that the numbers their nicknames come from add up to Seven. Like the Doctor they travel with.
I’m an amateur photographer, started in 2006. The flatness of my country and the urban landscape are my main objects. My goal is to get better in taking pictures of people. Sometimes I use PSE to add elements to my pictures that make them slightly surreal.
