Marco stopped Tom and pointed to the old run down house. “Nobody has lived in there for years.” Marco started. “Nobody likes it because it’s so old and beat up. See how everythings broken?” He asked. Tom nodded.
“I think it’s nice.” He responded. Marco smiled and nodded.
“Yeah… I do too.” He leaned his head on Tom’s shoulder. “I’d like to live in a house like that one day. Really big and old. It’d be a perfect place to tell ghost stories.” He joked. Tom giggled and bent down, he picked up a rock and stood upright.
“There’s this game I used to play when I was little, you find an abandoned area– there are a lot in the underworld– and you throw a rock.” Tom started. “If you get it through a window you get to make a wish.” He explained.
“Oh don’t break a window, it’s such a nice house.” Marco told him. “Run down, but pretty.” he mused. Tom smiled.
“I throw it through an open window, promise.” Tom assured. Marco rolled his eyes and Tom threw the rock. It shattered a closed window and Marco threw the demon a look. “… Sorry?” Tom smiled sheepishly.
“Whatever, just make your wish.” Marco nudged him. Tom thought for a moment and then perked up.
“I wish I could see aliens land on earth. Like in that movie.” Tom spoke. Marco laughed at his silly wish. “What?” Tom asked. “I don’t have anything serious to wish for… I’m content with how things are now.” he blushed lightly. “So all I really want that could make this better… is some aliens.” He joked.
“Aliens won’t land on earth for like… a million years. If at all.” Marco teased back, ruffling Tom’s hair. The demon shook his away gently and gave him a kiss on the cheek. He thought for a moment and then perked up.
“Okay then, I wish I could live for a million years.” he changed his wish.
“You can’t change your wish.” Marco bopped his nose and Tom snickered.
“Can too.” He antagonized. Marco smiled and reached down to the sidewalk, he picked up a rock and closed his eyes. He threw it as hard as he could and it crashed through a window. “Woah, good throw.” Tom smiled, blushing a little at his boyfriend’s impressive move. Marco closed his eyes and made a wish. “What did you wish for?” Tom asked, as soon as Marco opened his eyes. Marco leaned against the demon again and held his waist.
“I wish to live a million year minus one day.” Marco spoke. Tom looked confused.
“Minus one day?” He asked. Marco nodded and stood on his toes to give Tom a soft kiss. The demon felt his heart flutter and his face flush red. He held onto Marco gently and pulled him close, feeling his soft hair and holding his hand tightly, as if he was afraid to let go. When marco pulled away Tom had stars in his eyes and was looking at Marco like he was everything. “Why minus one day?” Tom asked, snapping back to reality.
“Because I don’t ever want to live without you.” He whispered to the demon. Tom’s eye lit up and Marco pulled him in for another kiss, holding him gently. He slipped his hands around his waist and held his demon close. Tom’s heart was pounding out of his chest and he felt butterflies well up in his stomach. But despite being nervous, it was the most amazing moment he could have ever wished for. When he pulled away, he kept his face close and his eyes closed.
“Marco… I think I wanna change my wish again.” Tom told him. Marco smiled sweetly and tangled their fingers up with one another’s.
“Change it to what, Tommy?” He asked. Tom grinned with a bit of a mischievous look and gave Marco a kiss on the nose.
“Can’t tell you. Or else it won’t come true.” Tom teased. He the dipped Marco down and gave him one last kiss, before whispering a goodbye and vanishing, leaving Marco to stand there smiling, looking up at the old house.
“Tom says he wants you to come home.” Star poked her head in Marco’s room. The human looked up confused. He was already in his house.
“I… am home?” He explained. He had just gotten home for his second year in college three days ago. He was happy to spend more time with Tom, but the demon had been elusive. Star shook her head and looked down at her phone, checking the text from Tom.
“No, he wants you to come home. He said for me to get you.” She told him. Marco looked confused and got up curiously, Star took his scissors and snipped open a portal. When Marco stepped through he was standing on the front porch of the old run down house that had been abandoned for longer than he’d been alive.
“What are we doing here?” He asked, he hadn’t seen this place since he was a little kid. Star opened the door and Marco was tackled in a hug and kiss by Tom, spinning him in circles. “Tom! Ah!” Marco giggled and gave the demon a kiss. “Where have you been?” He asked the demon. Tom grinned.
“Home.” he responded. Marco looked confused and Tom put his arms out. “Welcome home, Marco!” He cried. Marco fell back and small smile crept on his face.
“Wait… did you…?” He stuttered and Tom nodded. “You got this house… for us?!” Marco exclaimed. Tom nodded again and Marco rushed over to hug and kiss him as much as he possibly could. The demon laughed and Marco spun in circles. “You got a home for the two of us to live together!?” He cried out.
“We’re twenty now. Isn’t this a good time to think about that?” He asked. “I know it might be early but you always liked this house, and it’s just been getting more and more abandoned and… I told you my wish would come true!” Tom giggled.
“Your wish?” Marco asked.
“You might not remember but… when we broke the windows and made a wish… this was my wish… that’d we be together and one day I’d make you really happy… do you remember that?” Tom asked. Marco put a hand over his mouth and ran over to give him a third hug.
“Yes I do!” He giggled. “And Tom, you’ve already made me happier than I can tell you.” Marco told him, brushing his hair out of his face. “Just by being with me, you’ve made my happier than I could ever hope to begin to be.”
