Bruno Mars Channels Run-D.M.C. for the Super Bowl Halftime Show

The action on the Super Bowl field is warming up between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers, but it’s the halftime show that’s the hottest ticket for fashion fans. Performing alongside Beyoncé and Coldplay, Bruno Mars more than held his own, taking fashion cues from ’80s-era hip-hop style.

Dressed in coordinating Versace leather shirts and slouchy trousers, Mars and his eleven-piece band channeled beloved New York City rap trio Run-D.M.C. right down to the fat gold dookie chains. Versace’s signature Greek key motif ran along the cuffs of each costume, amping up the throwback appeal of the look in just the right way, too. But the best complement to Mars’s ensemble? Beyoncé, in custom leather and gold Dsquared2, who looked every inch the superstar.
