50 years on stage

The earliest known fossils of sea cows are found in 50 million-year-old marine sediments. Even at that early stage, 2 groups of sea cows had already evolved – the dugongs and the manatees. The dugongs inhabited a wide range of tropical and subtropical marine shores along the coasts of Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, and Australia. Manatees have been confined to areas around the Atlantic, from North America to South America and Africa. #ManateeAppreciationDay

ROS: Do you ever think of yourself as actually dead, lying in a box with a lid on it?

GUlL: No.

ROS: Nor do I, really… It’s silly to be depressed by it. I mean one thinks of it like being alive in a box, one keeps forgetting to take into account the fact that one is dead… which should make a difference… shouldn’t it? I mean, you’d never know you were in a box, would you? It would be just like being asleep in a box. Not that I’d like to sleep in a box, mind you, not without any air - you’d wake up dead, for a start and then where would you be? Apart from inside a box. That’s the bit I don’t like, frankly. That’s why I don’t think of it.

Because you’d be helpless, wouldn’t you? Stuffed in a box like that, I mean you’d be in there for ever. Even taking into account the fact that you’re dead, really… ask yourself, if! Asked you straight off - I’m going to stuff you in this box now, would you rather be alive or dead?Naturally, you’d prefer to be alive. Life in a box is better than no life at all. I expect. You’d have a chance at least. You could he there thinking - well, at least I’m not dead! In a minute someone’s going to bang on the lid and tell me to come out. (Banging on the floor with his fists.) ‘Hey you, whatsyernaine! Come out of there!’

GUlL: (Jumps up savagely) You don’t have to flog it to death!

ROS: I wouldn’t think about it, if! were you. You’d only get depressed. (Pause.) Eternity is a terrible thought. I mean, where’s it going to end?

- Benedict Cumberbatch performing Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead during 50 years on stage.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are two fools in a world that is beyond their understanding.

This fragment from act II, with Rosencrantz pondering the mysteries of chance, death and eternity, shows how they often state deep philosophical truths during their nonsensical ramblings, yet they depart from those ideas as quickly as they come to them.

There’s a phisicality involved in the theatre, it’s about sustaining a narrative with mind and body. In this specific case, a terrific comic timing is required, too.
And Benedict has got this combination of cerebral and physical, and a clownery shelf that transparently shows up the drama of the character’s fate.

Behold the delightful poignancy of Cumberbatch’s performance, live on stage at National Theatre 50th Anniversary!

I bet he enjoyed taking part in it, and he’s eager to come back on stage - when possible and properly arranged, I mean - for far more than two minutes, as much as we are to see him there…

“I’m a second generation circus performer. My mom, dad, two older siblings, and even my younger sister and I used to all perform together. Mom stood on my dad’s shoulders, my sister on my mom’s, then my brother, and after I went up, my little sister balanced on top of my head. I was nine years old when I first took the stage, so it’s been about 50 years now. There’s hardly anyone left who performs circus acts these days. Now, only foreigners fill up the otherwise empty seats, and I’m the last remaining circus performer in Korea.”

What a cutie.  Rosencrantz is precious.

it’s the year 2067. you’re at e3 and bethesda no longer exists. todd howard, who has not aged in 50 years, walks on stage on the final day and announces they have created a real life skyrim and everyone who ever made fun of him on the internet is going to be an npc or face the consequences. you remember the time you called him todd coward and are resigned to your fate.

anonymous asked:

Have the roles been casted yet for the movie of an ember in the ashes and is there a release date already?

Last question! The roles have not been cast yet, and there is no release date yet! Trust me if that happens you will knoooooowww. Right now, the writers are polishing up the script. From there it would need to get studio approval. And then if it did, they’d start looking for a director. And then the director would have to be free. And financing would have to happen, and as it’s a fantasy, it would require a loooot of $$. It is a VERY long process to have a movie made. And like every stage of the process takes 50 million years so yeah…slow….

O most pernicious woman!O villain, villain, smiling, damnèd villain! My tables!—Meet it is I set it downThat one may smile, and smile, and be a villain. At least I’m sure it may be so in Denmark.

Jon Bon Jovi fixes his pants with duct tape if they split on stage.

The legendary rocker has sold millions of record, both as lead singer of Bon Jovi and as a solo artist.

Despite his success, the 50-year-old can’t avoid some awkward moments on stage.

‘Oh, I’ve split my pants on stage on more than one occasion!’ he revealed to the British edition of OK! magazine.

‘You put duct tape on and then just deal with the consequences at the end of the show. Ouch! I’ve certainly done stupid things. Boogies coming out of your nose or something, that’s part of it!”

So some of you would have noticed I haven’t been as active these past few days and that’s because I was in Japan! And not only that but I saw both EXO concerts that were held in Tokyo! Sadly I could not take pictures (I even brought my big camera), and I even considered sneaking a few photos until I saw the girl in front of me get taken out of the concert during the very first song and never coming back, so I don’t know about you guys but I definitely preferred to stay in the concert.

Okay so, the first night I sat quite a far bit back from the stage and couldn’t really see them on the stage but it was still incredible. There’s a video played in the very beginning and the lead up to see EXO themselves is really suspenseful. Then when they do come out it’s in a mass of flashing lights and flames even shot out from the side of the stage, you can be a 50 year old man but you will STILL scream your ass off at how amazing it is, I can guarantee it. I actually can’t remember too much from the first night because of the second night. What I do remember, though, was Yixing’s face when the concert came to a close. During the end of the concert these two giant screens come together and close, while most of EXO waved and screamed “Goodbye!” to run behind the screen before it closed, Yixing stood in the very middle of where the two screens would meet and bowed for a very long time. He then continued to stand there but he didn’t wave, he just stared and smiled. The look on his face was so thankful and so so genuine, it made me happy and proud to be able to support EXO and make him happy like that. You Yixing stans are really telling the truth when saying that Yixing is an angel.

Now the SECOND night was when I sat very close and could actually see them dancing and performing up close. Let me tell you, not only are EXO drop dead handsome in real life but damn do they know how to give a show. The dancing and singing was all spectacular, there were even confetti canons that blasted during Run and it got everyone hyped. Something I remember is, during Lucky One, Baekhyun was just going crazy while moving his feet and he really looked like he was having the best time of his life. Kai bought out some giant phone during a talking segment and they all did some dumb skit with it, Baekhyun forgetting his Japanese at one point and letting out an embarrassed sound while Chen screamed “I LOVE YOUUUUU” real dramatically into it. There really was never a boring moment and not once did they look unhappy or unenthusiastic. But their voices, their voices were so…incredible. Chen sang My Turn to Cry and his last note just rang throughout the entire dome, it really gave me chills and almost made me cry, as did the others of course but Chen’s just sounded so so beautiful to me.

Suho’s voice was also gorgeous and he was really very dorky, every time he’d say something and forget his Japanese he’d make a face or do some weird movement that made everyone laugh and make me love him even more. Sehun and Chanyeol are also so, so bloody tall, like ridiculously tall. They’d make the others look tiny because of how stupidly tall they were. There was also a rap performance that Chanyeol, Sehun and Xiumin put on and Chanyeol dabbed multiple times so I was blessed with that. Kyungsoo seemed very perplexed a lot of the time, he was just staring around the whole dome a lot and when it was his turn to talk he seemed to forget (with Baekhyun and Chanyeol pestering him to talk). Then there was Kai, his switch from stage face to normal face was honestly impressive. During his performances it was all sexy sexy but when he talked he was really cute and laughed a lot. Baekhyun also called everyone perverts at one point and he wasn’t really wrong so I felt pretty proud to be part of that crowd.

During the end of the concert the same thing happened with the two large screens, except they all sat together and waved at the crowd until the screens closed. Yixing ran to every end of the stage and bowed in every direction, he was really so sweet and kind.

Finally, seeing EXO live left me with a really warm feeling. A feeling that made me happy to stan them and love them because…well, they seemed very genuine and very real. They seemed happy to be together, to see all their fans, and happy to perform together. I did always used to be worried when people would say EXO are only together for the money and for the fame and that they don’t really like each other (since you know how SM can be) but being able to see them live and see how genuinely happy they were to be together and be performing gave me a lot of confidence and love to put into them. It made me feel like I was really loving and stanning the right group.

Anyway that’s all from me, I’m back home now and working on videos and stuff so you can be expecting more soon! :D
