5 seconds of summer imagine

The Bet {CH} 6

TO SAY you were nervous would be an understatement. You changed your outfit a dozen times and babbled on the phone to Peyton as you got ready and she helped calm your nerves. Slightly. After changing so many times you finally settled on a pair of jeans with a plain white shirt and checkered Vans. You kept it casual, since it wasn’t a date, and you didn’t want to overdo it.

“You look great, Y/N.” Peyton assured you over the phone and you rolled your eyes.

“You can’t even see me Pey.”

“Yeah, well, I know you do. You always look great.”

You ran your fingers through you hair and sat down on the edge of your bed. It was almost seven and you were waiting for Calum’s ‘I’m here’ text. You didn’t expect him to come up to your door and get you, since it wasn’t a date, so you were fine with just a simple text. “I’m nervous.”

“You’ll be fine, Y/N. It’s not even a date, remember?” You sighed at the reminder of this not being a date. No matter how many times you tried to tell yourself that you didn’t mind that it wasn’t a date, you knew that deep down, you wanted it to be. Calum was nice and made you laugh and annoyingly attractive, so a date with him wouldn’t be bad, you thought. But it wasn’t a date and you had to remind yourself of that. “Wait, do you want it to be a date?”

“I mean, I don’t know, maybe?”

“Oh my God!” Peyton squealed. “You so do! You like him!”

“Ugh. Shut up-”

The knock at the door startled you and you shot up from your bed. You weren’t expecting anybody, so you weren’t sure who it was, it couldn’t be Calum. Could it be? You told Peyton you would call her after the not date and rushed to your door. You were surprised to see Calum standing there, hands in his pockets, rocking back and forth on his feet. How did he know which room was yours?

“Hey?” You laughed. “How do you know which door was mine?”

Calum shrugged innocently. “I may or may not have asked Peyton.”

Of course he did and of course she told him. “Of course she told you. She doesn’t care about my safety; always telling strange guys my room number.”

Calum scoffed, holding his hand to his chest in mock offense. “I am not a strange guy!” You laughed and slid your purse over your shoulder. Calum furrowed his eyebrows. “Wait, how many guys has she given your room number to?”

“She hasn’t.” You laugh. “Just a joke. You’re the only guy.” Grabbing your keys, you looked at Calum expectantly, and found he was already looking at you. “You ready to go?”

“Yep.” You ushered Calum out of your apartment.

“Ya know,” you spoke as you locked your door. “You didn’t have to come to my door to pick me up. It’s not like this is a date.”

Calum smiled sheepishly and followed you to the elevator. “Well, what if I want it to be a date?” You looked at Calum with wide eyes and it didn’t look like he was joking, and of course, you blushed. When weren’t you blushing around Calum? It was starting to get annoying, honestly.

“Well, then, I guess this is a date.” You bit your lip and Calum smiled wider. The twenty minute drive to the mini golf place was filled with meaningless chatter and singing along to Calum’s playlist he made specifically for you. But he wouldn’t tell you that. Calum quickly found a parking spot and the two of you made your way up to the counter to get golf clubs and balls. “You didn’t have to pay, Calum.”

“It’s a date, remember?” He smirked. Calum was amazed at how good you were at mini golf. “Are you a pro or something?” He asked as you shot your fourth hole-in-one in a row and you giggled.

“Almost, but not quite.” You winked playfully. “Michael and I used to mini golf all the time. I got pretty good over the years.”

At the mention of Michael, something inside of Calum’s stomach twisted unpleasantly. He wasn’t sure what it was. It sure as hell couldn’t be jealousy. Could it be? If it was, Calum couldn’t understand why. He didn’t like you, not really, he was only hanging out with you as a bet. He didn’t have a reason to be jealous. Well, that’s what he told himself. “Has Michael always been your best friend?”

“Pretty much. We met in elementary school and then Peyton moved to our middle school from a different state, so that’s how we met her, and ever since then we’ve been inseparable, really.” You smiled at the memory of meeting Peyton for the first time. She complimented your favorite shirt and you complimented her purple hair, that matched Michael’s, and then the three of you were instantly the best of friends.

“Have you and Michael, ever, ya know…”

“Hooked up?” You scrunched up your nose and Calum nodded his head. By your reaction, he could tell that you hadn’t ever done anything sexually with him, but your words settled his stomach. “No. Never. That would be like hooking up with my brother.”

“I don’t think I would like you anymore if I found out you were into incest.”

You laughed loudly, earning the attention of the people around you, and you covered your mouth to quiet your laughing. Calum laughed along with you, finding your laugh contagious, and he was happy he could make you laugh that hard. “Sorry. That was really funny.”

“Don’t apologize. You have a nice laugh.” Calum picked up your ball and his and walked to the last hole. You hadn’t even realized you were almost done with the whole course since you had been talking and having a good time the whole two hours you were playing. There wasn’t one moment of awkward silence and you didn’t run out of things to talk about. It was nice.

You beat Calum by a landslide and he of course was being a sore loser and he blamed it on not having played for so long and you being freakishly good at the game. You returned your clubs and the balls that you hadn’t lost and started walking back to Calum’s car. The two of you were only supposed to play a round of mini golf and end the night there, but Calum didn’t want the night to end just yet, and neither did you.

“You hungry?” Calum asked as he drove down the street.

“I know this place with really good burgers and milkshakes. Wanna go there? It’s not too far.” You nodded your head with a smile on your face, Calum’s smile mirroring your own, and you drove to the burger place in a comfortable silence. The place was almost completely empty aside from the few people working and the old couple in one of the booths.

The sign said to seat yourself, so you and Calum chose a booth by the window, and slid in. There were already menus on the tables, so you picked it up and looked through it. You decided on a cookies and cream milkshake and chicken fingers with fries.

The server took your orders and came back with your milkshakes shortly after. “Can I try yours? I’ve never had the cookies and cream one.” You slid your milkshake to Calum and he slid his to you, letting you taste his, even though you knew you wouldn’t like it since you weren’t a big fan of strawberry flavored things. You loved strawberries, just not stuff that tasted like them. You watched as Calum’s plump lips wrapped around your straw and his cheeks sucked in as he sucked on the straw. You had to tear your eyes away from him before he caught you staring. The one thing you loved the most about his face was his lips. God, you just wanted to kiss the shit out of them.

“Good?” You laughed as he took another sip and then another.

“Amazing.” Calum smiled and took his own milkshake back. “I’ll have to get that one next time we come here.”

You cocked an eyebrow. “There’s going to be a next time?”

“If you want there to be.” Calum shrugged, a smile playing on his lips, as if he didn’t just insinuate that he was going to take you on a second date. You rolled your lips in your mouth to hide your smile and thankfully the silence between the two of you didn’t last long, since your food arrived just in time.

You ate in silence, it was comfortable not awkward, and when you finally finished your food, you went back to drinking your milkshake. Your hair had fallen in your face, just covering it a little bit, and your cheeks were sucked in like Calum’s were before, and your eyes were looking behind Calum and around the little diner. When you heard the ‘click’ of a camera and saw a flash you quickly moved your eyes from the old school jukebox to Calum, who was smiling down at his phone.

“Did you just take a picture of me?” Calum simply nodded his head and you furrowed your eyebrows. “Why?”

“You looked cute.” He flipped his phone around so it was facing you and you blushed at his words, but tried to ignore the heat on your cheeks, as you looked at the picture. He had the iPhone X, and he put it on portrait mode, so it looked like a professional had taken it. “Pretty, right?”

“Yeah.” You laughed. “Will you send it to me?” Calum nodded his head and a second later your phone vibrated against the marble table and Calum’s name was popping up on the screen. You unlocked it and saved the photo. You knew you were going to Instagram it, since it actually was a decent picture of you, but you were going to wait until a different day. You didn’t want to be on your phone while on a date.

Calum paid the bill, much to your dismay, and grabbed your hand to pull you up and out of the booth. You spotted a playground across the street from the diner and your eyes lit up at the swingset. “Can we go swing?” You asked, batting your eyelashes, and Calum found himself not being able to say no.

“You want to swing after eating that much?” Calum groaned. “I’ll throw up.”

“You’re weak!” You laughed and looked both ways before bolting across the street, Calum hot on your feet as he chased after you. Your laugh got louder as you jumped on the swing and Calum went behind you, pushing on your lower back, to make you swing higher. You hated to admit that you enjoyed the feeling of his hands on your body.

He jumped on the swing next to you and pushed his legs hard so he was swinging just as high as you. You noticed that you were swinging in sync, going back and forth at the same time, and you grinned thinking back to elementary school. “Look! We’re married.” In grade school, when you were swinging and going in sync you would say you’re married, and if you swinging the opposite directions, you were divorced. You weren’t sure if every elementary school did it, but yours sure did.

Calum also noticed the two of you swinging in sync and laughed. “Are we in elementary school again?”

“It feels like it.”

“Let’s see who can jump the furthest.”

“That doesn’t sound all that safe.”

“I’ll catch you if you fall.” Calum winked. You both pushed your legs once more before jumping off, you squealing loudly as you landed on your feet, but Calum was starting to fall over, and he grabbed your arm, pulling you down with him. You landed on top of him, legs on both side of his waist, and you laughed loudly. You didn’t think about the position you were in, not until Calum sat up, groaning in the process, and his face was dangerously close to yours.

His eyes trailed down to your face and stopped at your lips. You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth and Calum had the overwhelming urge to kiss the shit out of you. So he did. You gasped against his mouth in utter surprise at the feel of his lips on yours, but quickly reciprocated the kiss, your fingers tangling themselves in his curls, and his hands squeezing your hips.

You sat there, in your own world, as your lips worked against each other, until Calum reluctantly pulled away from you. He couldn’t stop the grin from taking over his face as he noticed your kiss swollen lips, and you matched his grin.

“Sorry.” Calum mumbled, but you could tell in his voice that he wasn’t sorry. Not at all. “I couldn’t help myself. The moment was too perfect and you look way too pretty not to kiss.”

“I’m not complaining.” You smiled bashfully.

Calum stared at you longingly, but he quickly snapped out of it when he remembered this was all for a bet. He wasn’t supposed to end up liking you, so he tried to force himself not to. Tried to remind himself that this wasn’t real. “It’s getting late. I should get you back home.”

You nodded in agreement and got off of Calum’s lap, holding your hand out for him to take and help himself up, and when he was all the way up, he didn’t let go of your hand until he opened the passenger side door for you. The drive was quiet, again, and you had to bite your lips to stop yourself from smiling too much. You didn’t want to look like a weirdo, just smiling at nothing, so you didn’t let Calum see it.

Calum walked you to your door, like the perfect gentleman he was, and pulled your body into his for a hug before releasing you. “I had a really nice time tonight, Calum.”

“So did I.” He hooked his fingers in the belt loops of your jeans and tugged you closer to him, your hands resting on his chest, and his on your hips as he looked down at you. “Does this mean I get to take you on a second date?”

Your smile was too big to hide or bite back this time, so you let it show, on full display for Calum to see. “Yeah. I think it does.”

You said your goodnights, Calum giving you a quick peck on the lips as a goodnight kiss, and you walked into your apartment with a smile taking over your face. Your not date that turned into a date, was one of the best dates you had ever been on, and you couldn’t wipe the smile off of your face as you got ready for bed. You never thought that out of all the guys you knew, that Calum would be the reason for you smiling yourself to sleep. But you weren’t complaining.

Another part of my youngblood requests! Link in my bio! Hope you enjoy!

You were just putting your lipstick on in the mirror when Luke finally got home. He barely glanced at you as he walked over to your guy’s closet to hang his jacket.

“Where are you going?” Luke asked, turning to look at you again, noticing the tight black dress.

“Out” You said, rubbing the lipstick in between your lips.

“Whatever” Luke said, grabbing his guitar and walking out of the room.

You weren’t sure when things became like this with Luke. When you had first met, everything was perfect. He had just gotten into the music business, you had a great career just starting for you. So you both were busy but everything was great. When he began to go on tour, you had your work to keep you busy, so things worked out. When you both weren’t working you’d spend every second together. Every morning you’d wake up to his kiss, and every night you’d spend hours snuggled on the couch watching tv or talking.

Now you both barely looked at each other. You missed the brightness of his eyes when he’d turn to look at you, you missed the way his hand always seemed to graze yours… Now Luke was Luke Hemmings, the rockstar so many girls would do anything for just so he would give them a glance. Not that you were jealous, you trusted Luke. At least that you could count on. Your career took off too. So now you both had more money than you knew what to do with, a huge house, everything you could ask for, and yet the perfect personal life is what you both avoided. Somewhere down the line you lost each other. You both were hardly home and if you were, you were alone in separate rooms. Luke spent all his time on his music, you picked up more and more hours at work.

That’s how you ended up having to attend another fancy fundraiser your company was putting on. At this point you had been to so many of these nobody bothered to ask where your boyfriend was as you smiled at clients, getting them just drunk enough to donate a little bit more money.

It was late by the time you got back, but you could still hear the faint sounds of a guitar. Funny how you were constantly surrounded by his music, but for you to hear an actual finished song or know any information you were stuck with whatever they released online, it’s not like you and Luke spoke enough to really talk about his music.

You walked to the kitchen to get some water, wanting to completely get rid what little buzz you had. You just filled up your second glass when Luke walked in, heading towards the cabinet to get a glass. He looked you up and down from the corner of his eye. “Hope you had fun, who’s the lucky guy?” He asked, the corner of his mouth turning up into a cold smile. You don’t know if it was the alcohol, you being tired, or just simply you reaching your limit that was to blame for what you did next.

You threw the glass on the kitchen floor, shards of glass flying everywhere.

“What the FUCK y/n?!?” Luke yelled, backing up to avoid the glass.

“No you what the fuck Luke. You do NOT get to just say shit like that!” You screamed back.

“Well what am I supposed to think Y/n? We don’t talk anymore, you go out looking like that all night. I don’t know what you fucking want from me anymore.”

You grabbed his hand and let him to his studio room, where he spent 99% of his time in. You walked to his desk filled with random papers and music sheets covering what you were looking for. It was a pile of old invitations and reminders for several company events, including the one you went to tonight. You threw them at his chest, from the confused look on his face you knew this was probably the first time he really saw them.

“Where was I? I was at a company fundraiser. You know the one I’ve been trying to tell you about for over a month but you choose not to listen to me? So of course I put the invitation here and instead its just buried with everything else that’s important to me! You never even opened any of these! And then you wanna accuse me of cheating in your little side comment?! Fuck you Luke” You said storming out of the room, and heading for the bedroom. You kicked off your heels and threw yourself on the bed, unable to stop the tears.

You barely noticed the shift in the bed as Luke sat down on the edge. “That wasn’t cool, I’m sorry I wasn’t thinking. I didn’t mean it but I should’ve never said that regardless.”

“It’s whatever Luke” you said, sitting up and wiping your eyes. “I know you didn’t mean it and I may have overreacted just a little bit”

“Just a bit” he laughed softly, you smiled too. “I’m sorry though. For everything. I tend to just throw stuff on that desk, I never really look to see what’s on it…”

“Now you tell me..” you sighed.

You both sat in silence for a few minutes, then Luke sighed and laid down next to you on the bed. He grabbed your hand, his thumb softly moving in circles.

“When did everything end up like this?” He asked, his voice real soft.

“What so fucked up? I don’t know Luke. I feel like I don’t even know you anymore. We have everything, yet we’re about as close as strangers…”

“Did you just quote my song?” He laughed.

“Me? Never” You laughed too. “I miss this” you said when your giggles finally died down.

“Me too… Maybe we’re better off just poor and struggling. At least then we had each other…instead of feeling so…so…”

“Alone?” You finished for him.

You turned on your side to look at him, he looked lost in thought and troubled. You laid your head on his chest, and he wrapped his arms tightly around you. It was with those small gestures that you both knew, without saying anything, you were going to try to start over.

You woke up the next morning with him gone. All that he left was a text to you saying “Had an interview this morning…didn’t wanna wake you, you looked so peaceful. Love you.”. You smiled at the screen as you went to take a shower, finally getting out of that stupid dress…

You finally got home from work, so exhausted and tired you just laid down on the couch. Luke’s car still wasn’t in the garage, so he must still be doing interviews, that or at whatever club the guys dragged him to so they could party. You were fine with that though, you wouldn’t even know what to say to him if you saw him right now…

You had just started a movie when you heard the doorbell ring. Confused, you got up to look to see who it was. You opened it to see a pizza delivery man.

“One half cheese, half pepperoni pizza for y/n l/n?” The guy asked.

“Um ok…how much do I owe you?” You asked, turning to get your purse.

“No need y/n, it’s been paid for online. The receipt says a Lucas Hemmings paid for it.”  He said, handing you the pizza and heading back to his car.

“Thank you!” You said, as he waved you closed the door. “Thanks Luke, I’m starving and did not feel like cooking” You said to yourself as you grabbed a slice.

You woke up the next morning to another text about some new press meet Luke had to be at. Last night he came in pretty late and instantly fell asleep beside you. From the looks of it, he was under a lot more stress from management to be seen so he could stay relevant on social media. Those managers seemed to think if 5sos wasn’t trending then everything would collapse.

You walked over to check the mail, and saw that your invitation to yet another fancy fundraiser for tonight had finally arrived. For some reason there was some error and they forgot to send it, but company policy said they had to mail it. Waste of time and paper to you. You threw the invitation along with the rest of the mail on the kitchen counter so you could make yourself some coffee.

You got to the ballroom your company reserved early, so you could make sure everything was set up. You were pouring glasses of champagne when the guests started to arrive. An hour later, it was clear the night was a success. Clients were having fun and pretty generous with their checkbooks, and even your boss was smiling. The music went from upbeat to a slow song, so you sat down at your table, enjoying your glass of wine. You saw your coworkers around you, dancing with their husbands and wives…yet another night you wished Luke were here.

You were taken away from your thoughts when you felt a tap on your shoulder.

“May I have this dance?” A voice said from behind you.

“No, I’m sorry I’m not in the mood-” You said turning around, stopping mid-sentence when you saw who was standing there.

Luke was wearing a perfectly tailored black suit, with a baby blue tie that made his eyes stand out. His long blond hair was still a mess, but that made the look even better.

“Luke? What are you doing here?” you gasped.

“I saw the invite on the counter when I got home. I know these are important to you, and I’m sorry I’m barely coming to support you now…but if you told me they were this nice I would have been here a lot sooner…” He said, giving you a wink. “So again…may I have this dance?” he asked, holding his hand out to you.

You laughed and took his hand. He pulled you to the middle of the dancefloor, you couldn’t help but notice your coworkers curious eyes. You put your head on his chest as you both swayed to the music.

“Thank you for coming…” you said softly, still in disbelief he was here.

“Anything for my girl…I promise things will be different…” He said, kissing the top of your head.

“Me too…”

Author’s note: Hey I’m back!! Sorry I haven’t been as active as I want! Hopefully that will change, at least while I finish these requests… anyway thanks for reading!!! -Lydia

Since the last time we danced I’ve learnt some brand new sass.

“SO GUESS what?” A voice startled you and you jumped, looking up from the piece of paper that you were working on, and saw Calum standing in front of you, grinning from ear to ear. You cocked an eyebrow and tried to figure out why he looked and sounded so excited. Sitting down in the chair across from you, Calum spoke. “I watched Almost Famous last night.”

Now it was your turn to grin. Your eyes lit up and you were fully attentive, completely forgetting about the sheet of paper you were supposed to be working on. “Did you like it?”

“No.” Calum deadpanned and you frowned. “I loved it.” Your frown disappeared and you smiled against your will. You resisted the urge to roll your eyes at Calum’s boyish laugh. “It was so good! Fucking ten out of ten if you ask me.”

You giggled and nodded your head in agreement. “I’m glad you liked it.”

“Thanks for the recommendation.” Calum smirked and leaned back in the wooden chair. You couldn’t help but stare at him as he looked through his backpack for his Psychology textbook. The white and red t-shirt he wore was tight, making his muscular arms look even better, and his curly hair was a mess, but he made it look good. So good. “So, what are you teaching me today?”

“There’s not much left to teach, really. You’re basically all caught up and we don’t have anything due for the next few weeks.” You explained and Calum frowned. “But, since you’re here, I guess I could go ahead of the class and explain some stuff? So, that way, when Professor Matthews goes over it you’ll understand it more.”

“Good idea.” Calum smiled and listened as you explained chapters five and six to him. You were halfway through explaining chapter six when Calum stopped you. You thought he was going to complain about being bored, but surprisingly, he didn’t. “I have to pee. Be right back.”

You took the time while Calum was gone to respond to the millions of texts from Michael and Peyton in your group chat and scroll through random stuff on your phone.

“Y/N?” You looked up from your phone to see Josh, a guy you had a class with, standing at the end of the table you and Calum were sitting at. You looked around, seeing he wasn’t with anybody, and furrowed your eyebrows. Why was he talking to you? “I was wondering if you’re busy this weekend?”

You furrowed your eyebrows and set your phone down, not wanting to be rude, but before you could say anything to him, Calum was back and interrupting. “Yeah, she is busy, actually.” Calum pursed his lips at Josh and you looked away from Josh to Calum, not expecting him to say what he said next. “She’s going out with me this weekend, Josh.”

Your eyes widened as you looked back and forth between the two guys, who clearly don’t like each other, and frowned when Josh walked away without a word. What the hell just happened? You had no clue. You could definitely sense some tension, but you figured it wasn’t your business, so you didn’t bother asking.

“What was that?”

“Josh is bad news. You shouldn’t hang out with him.” Calum shrugged and sat back down across from you. You were confused, still, and Calum could tell. He wasn’t sure why he told Josh that the two of you were hanging out, maybe because he didn’t want you hanging around somebody like Josh, but now he had the perfect opportunity to ask you out and finally, hopefully, actually start getting somewhere with this bet. “So, Y/N, what are we doing this weekend?”

“Excuse me?” You laughed.

“We’re hanging out now, remember?” Calum smirked. You didn’t think he was serious, but apparently he was, and the corners of your lips quirked up into a small smile. Hanging out with Calum for a night didn’t sound that bad, so you went along with it. “So, watcha wanna do?”

“Whatever you wanna do.” You shrugged. You thought it might have sounded a little bit suggestive, but you hoped Calum wouldn’t pick up on it.

“We could go bowling?” Calum suggested.

“I suck at bowling.” You pursed your lips and tried to think of something else to do that didn’t seem ‘first date’ like. This wasn’t a date. Just strictly acquaintances hanging out. Right? “Mini golf?”

“A girl after my own heart.” Calum smirked and you rolled your eyes. You tried not to blush, but failed, and Calum smiled even wider. He loved that he could make you blush all the time without even trying to. “Mini golf it is. I’ll pick you on Friday. Is seven o’clock good?”

“Yeah. Seven works.”

“Perfect. See you in two days, Y/N.” Calum winked, for what felt like the hundredth time, but was only the second, and slung his backpack over his shoulder, leaving you alone at the library table, surprised and a little bit confused about what happened.

“He what?” Peyton yelled excitedly over the phone and you winced at the loudness in your ears. You unlocked your apartment door and stepped inside, setting your bag down on the floor before shutting the door behind you. “That’s totally a date, Y/N!”

“It’s not a date, Pey, we’re just hanging out, as friends.” You tried to convince her, but it sounded like you were trying to convince yourself in the process. You kicked your shoes off and laid down on your bed.

“It’s a date, Y/N/N. Don’t downplay it.” You knew Peyton rolled her eyes even though you couldn’t see her. You bit your lip to suppress your smile. Maybe you did want it to be a date, maybe, but you weren’t sure yet. And you weren’t sure if Calum wanted it to be a date. “Why aren’t you as excited as I am?”

“Because I told you, Pey, he only asked me to hang out because he didn’t want me to hang out with Josh.”

“Are you hearing yourself? He didn’t want you to hang out with Josh because he likes you, Y/N/N! Are you really that dumb or are you just pretending?”

You laughed loudly at Peyton’s words and shook your head at her. She was right. She usually always was right. “I’m not dumb, you asshole. But what if he doesn’t see it as a date and I do? And then it’s awkward?”

“It won’t be awkward.” Peyton assured you. “There’s no way he doesn’t like you. You’re overthinking it. Just go with the flow, you’ll be fine, it’ll be great! And you’re so good at mini golf! He’ll fall in love.”

“Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, dramatic.” You exhaled a sigh and flipped over so you were staring at the ceiling. You listened as Peyton babbled about something you didn’t really care much about and after a while you found yourself getting tired, and honestly, a little bored of her constant talking. “Hey, Pey? I’m gonna take a nap. I’ll call you later?”

“Yeah, sure. Mikey and I are meeting up later to get a drink at the Pub, meet us if you want?”

You woke up hours later, the sun was down, and your phone was blowing up from the group chat with Michael and Peyton. They were already at the Pub and you figured it wouldn’t hurt to meet up with them, so you got dressed and fixed your makeup, before walking the few minutes to the Pub. It was mostly empty, with it being a Wednesday night and all, so you spotted them easily.

You didn’t notice that Calum was there, but he noticed you right when you walked in the bar. You had a different outfit on than when you were tutoring him. Instead of jeans you wore leggings that hugged your ass perfectly, making it look wonderful in Calum’s eyes, and instead of the long sleeved shirt you had on earlier, you had a cropped sweatshirt on, showing off your ass and a little bit of your stomach when you lifted your arms to flip your hair or sip your drink. He couldn’t keep his eyes off of you.

“You’re starin’ again,” Luke nudged Calum’s shoulder and Calum rolled his eyes at his friends. He tuned Ashton and Luke out, considering they were talking about something that didn’t matter to him, and only zoned back in when they told him they were leaving. “You comin’ man? We’re gonna head out.”

“Nah, ‘m gonna stay a little while longer.”

“Go woo the pants off of her, Cal.” Ashton winked before downing his beer and slamming the glass on the table. They said their goodbyes and Calum stayed at the high top table in the corner, looking at you, in the most non-creepy way, and smiled as you laughed loudly at something Peyton said.

“I’ll be right back. Allison is calling me.” Michael quickly finished his beer, informing you to order him another one, since Peyton had gone to the bathroom, leaving you by yourself at the bar. You twirled a piece of hair between your fingers as you waited for your friends to return to the bar, since you felt like a loser sitting there by yourself, when a guy approached you.

“Hey there.” He helped himself to the seat Michael was just sitting in and you looked up from the split ends that you were messing with.

“Um. Hi.” You pursed your lips and sipped your drink through your straw. You didn’t really enjoy when random approached you at the bar, since it made you uncomfortable, but he clearly didn’t understand that. Why guys thought that they could just approach a girl, unwarranted, at the bar, or anywhere really, was beyond you.

“Can I buy you a drink?”

You lifted up the glass that your cranberry vodka was in and tried to smile at him. He so clearly saw that your drink was full and you had a full beer in front of you already that was Michael’s, but he obviously couldn’t think of anything else to ask you to start a conversation. “I already have one, but thanks.”

“You sure? How about when you finish that one?”

“I’m good.” You repeated, but still, the guy wasn’t getting the hint, and clearly he didn’t know what no meant. He kept talking to you and you kept ignoring him. You got annoyed and gulped down the last of the liquor in your drink and picked up your purse and Michael’s full beer. “Excuse me.” You got up to excuse yourself to, anywhere else, really.

“Wait. Where ya goin’?” He grabbed your arm and you raised your eyebrows at him. You really weren’t in the mood to have random guys at the rundown Pub grabbing you without your consent and bothering you, when you clearly did not want to speak to them.

Calum could see in your face from across the bar that you weren’t having it, so finally, he stood up and stalked over to you and the random bar guy. Making himself known, he cleared his throat and spoke up. “There a problem here?”

“Nah dude, no problem here,” Bar guy spoke. You released a sigh, knowing that Calum would most definitely scare away, so you wouldn’t have to deal with him much longer, but you wished the whole situation hadn’t happened in the first place.

“I wasn’t talking to you,” Calum looked down at work worriedly. “You okay, Y/N?”

You nodded your head and Bar guy released your arm, knowing that Calum would put up a fight if he had to, and Bar guy didn’t want a fight. So he glared at Calum, gave you one more glance, and walked away with his head down, clearly defeated, and you didn’t feel bad for him.

Nothing crazy happened, he only touched your arm and tried to buy you a drink, but it still put you on edge, like it would any girl. It was really unfortunate that you, and almost all girls, couldn’t go out to a bar without a guy hitting on them. It was sad, really. You hated feeling like that, but you were glad that Calum stepped in, even if it was nothing too serious.

“Thanks, uh, for that.” You mumbled and Calum just smiled slightly. You looked around for your friends, Michael still outside on the phone with Allison and Peyton who joined him once she saw you and Calum talking, not wanting to interrupt the two of you.

“I’m gonna go out and have a smoke. You wanna come?” Calum asked with his pack of cigarettes and lighter already in hand. You nodded your head and followed Calum outside. Michael was still on the phone and Peyton grinned when she saw you. And Calum who was lighting a cigarette.

Peyton, who was already tipsy, walked over to the two of you and rested her head on your shoulder, exhaling a long sigh. You didn’t feel as awkward now, since Peyton and Michael were outside with you now, and it wasn’t just you and Calum. She smiled at Calum and extended her hand to him. “Hi. I’m Peyton.”

“I know,” Calum smiled and shook her hand with the hand that wasn’t holding a cigarette.  “I’m Calum. Nice to meet you.”

“Likewise. I’ve heard lots about you.” Peyton giggled and you elbowed her side. Leave it up to Peyton to reveal to Calum that you talked about him more than you were willing to admit. The corners of Calum’s lips turned up and he glanced at you. Even though your head was down and you were picking at your nails, he could still see the blush on your cheeks, since you were standing directly under the streetlight that was shining down on you.

“God!” Michael cursed and angrily shoved his phone back into his pocket. You wordlessly handed Michael his full beer that you were still holding and he thanked you before chugging half of it down. “Allison is so fucking aggravating sometimes!” Michael rubbed his eyes and finally noticed that Calum was now there. “Hey Calum.” Michael nodded towards Calum, who simply nodded his head back, and offered him a smile. “I need more drinks if I’m going to deal with Allison bothering me all night. You guys comin’ back inside?”

“I think I’m gonna go home.” You shrugged. “I’m tired, but you guys go. Get wasted and forget about Allison for the night.” You knew it wasn’t that good of advice, but you also knew that Michael would end up doing it anyway.

“You bet your ass we will!” Peyton smacked your ass and hollered as she and Michael stumbled back into the bar and you laughed at them. Calum laughed in amusement at your drunk friends and wished that his friends were that fun and careless sometimes. They were uptight when they got drunk, and sometimes, they could get really mean, and Calum just wished that sometimes, they would let loose.

“You’re walking home?” Calum broke the silence.

“Yeah, it’s not too far.”

“Let me walk you?” Calum asked, a hopeful smile on his face.

“Sure.” You smiled and led the way. You appreciated Calum driving you home the night you went out with Peyton and Michael, and now, Calum offering to walk you home. It was a nice gesture, you thought. The two of you made small talk, mostly talking about Michael and Allison, which Calum stayed quiet during, since he didn’t know anything about the situation, but he left you vent until you reached your apartment building.

“Thanks for walking me, Calum.” You awkwardly played with your keys in your hands and he smiled. He smiled at everything you did, it seems. You were awkward and shy and quiet sometimes, which he liked. It was refreshing since most of the girls he hung around were way too confident and talked too much.

“Course. Didn’t want you walking home alone at night.” Calum gave you a quick, awkward hug, which you returned, unexpectedly, before clearing his throat and backing away. “I’ll see you Friday?”

“Yeah. Friday. See you then.”

Falling asleep that night, you weren’t nervous, or anxious, anymore about Friday night. Whether or not it was a date, you knew it would be fun, and not too awkward. You liked Calum, you had admitted it to yourself, and you only hoped he liked you back.

Part 2 | Part 3

“Hypothetically speaking, how upset would you be if I just dumped my drink over his head and stormed out like a character from a late nineties teen drama?”

Calum glances up from his phone and follows your gaze across the room to where Luke stands, a grin on his face and a girl teetering on too-high platforms in front of him. “After I get done laughing? Not very,” Calum shrugs with a small grin as he shoves his phone in his pocket and reaches for his cup, “but you’d have to be able to reach his head to dump a drink over it.”

Side Chick

A/N: Also thank you to @iknowyoufeelme for helping me brainstorm a few ideas for this imagine.

Calum was walking an appropriate distance in front of you as you discreetly trailed behind him. Your mood at the moment was not the happiest and you were trying to keep up with the tall boy as you two made your way to class. You knew the rules of being a side chick. Never interact in public especially when Calum’s girlfriend was around, never fall for the guy you’re sleeping with, and always keep things on the down low. You’ve heard of stories where things had gone wrong and you wanted to avoid that at all costs. Though you had a safety net. Being in the same class as Calum allowed you to talk to him in public, using class work as an excuse to talk with him outside of your hook up time. “Calum,” you timidly said, trying to get his attention and weaving through the crowd as you came up close behind him. “Calum,” you repeated, reaching out to pinch at his arm only for him to pay attention to your next words. “Are we going to the frat party tonight?” you asked. The words came out loud and Calum’s head whipped around, his eyebrow rose, and he gave you a once over. Then he turned back around and continued his trek to the 1pm class. It was the action he gave when he shrugged someone off which is what he had just done to you.

Your pace quickened and soon you were walking beside him. “It was a yes or no question so don’t shrug me off,” you said in a strong voice. Entering inside the building for the Psych 102 class. Calum glanced around at his surroundings before quickly pulling you under the staircase.

“I am going to the party, but not with you…look, Y/N don’t overstep your role. I have a girlfriend and this-” he gestured between the two of you, “This does not see the daylight. Only the darkness of your bedroom or the backseat of my car. Got it?” His words came out cold and you felt a chill run down your spine at the dark stare he was giving you. Calum’s eyebrows rose in question. You swallowed hard and nodded.

“Got it,” you whispered, almost feeling your breath being sucked out of you as Calum left. Rule number three: don’t catch feelings. That was hard not to do. Sure you enjoyed the sex, but after hooking up with Calum so many times how could you not fall for him? His girlfriend was getting everything you wanted. Calum was emotionally and sexually available for her, but of course there had to be something wrong with his relationship if he was seeking sex from you. You waited a couple of minutes before walking out from under the staircase. Minutes later you entered the classroom and sat two rows and one spot away in front of Calum. No contact whatsoever.

You chin rested in the palm of your hand as you scribbled down some notes that were written up on the slide. You felt yourself begin to doze off and your eyes landed on the clock rested above the whiteboard. A small groan left your lips as you realized there was still fifteen minutes left of class. Throughout the whole lesson your instructor had been rambling on about dreams connection to memory. You had gone into your own thoughts. Thinking mostly of Calum and how you felt about being in the situation that you were in. Your head tilted to the side and you took a glance at the Kiwi boy. Calum looked bored with the lesson. He was leaning back in his seat with crossed arms and an expression you couldn’t quite read. You felt a tap on your shoulder and your attention was brought to the person sitting next to you. You stared at the guy and your mind raced to place a name to the face. “Hey are you going to the Alpha Omega frat party tonight?” he asked. Eric Knight, you thought to yourself. The two of you had often talked, but it had never gone more then at least five sentences to one another.

“Uh maybe not. I have a ten page paper to write for English,” you lied. Truth was you had finished that paper three days ago, but you remembered Calum saying that he was going to be at the party with his girlfriend. Him being at the party with her meant that you couldn’t attend. Rule number six: never be in the same location as the main chick.

“Awe come on! You’re the life of the party without you there it’d just be bleh,” Eric smiled, playfully nudging you in the side. You chuckled at his words and shrugged your shoulders.

“I’ll think about it,” you told him, “Not making any promises though.” Eric’s smile grew into a grin and he nodded at your words. His smile only made you smile.

“Well I hope you do come,” he last said, starting to pack his stuff up. You looked around and realized everyone else was also doing the same. Eric gave you a wave goodbye and left out the room. You smiled to yourself and began to pack up your stuff. Your teeth sunk into your bottom lip and you shook your head to stop the thoughts that were running through your mind. Your conversations with Eric usually ended in that way. His charm rubbing off on you in a good way. He was always flirting with you and often times wanted to hang out. Though your small banters only stayed behind the classroom and at parties.

Calum was leaning against the wall next to the door when you left the classroom. He’d never wait on you unless he was in the mood, but as you looked at him quizzically you could tell that wasn’t the case now. You didn’t allow him to say a word only brushing past him at a quick pace. Calum had told you to stay in your place and so that’s what you were going to do. “Don’t ignore me,” Calum said, his voice sounding raspy. His chest was pressed up against your back and for some reason the action made your core throb. Luckily for the both of you the hallway was packed as everyone was leaving the building or traveling to their next class. You kept quiet and waited for him to say something else. “What did Eric want?” Calum questioned, pinching at your hip.

“He was asking if I was going to the party,” you told Calum. He let out a low chuckle at your words and without turning around you could already see him shaking his head.

“You’re not going. I’m gonna be there with Ria remember,” he said, “I don’t want you anywhere near her.” You frowned at Calum’s words and let out a huff. Your social life basically didn’t exist anymore because Calum was always going to be at some party or event with his girlfriend. It irked you to the core and you knew your friends were starting to worry.

“I told him I wasn’t going, so cool yourself alright,” you snapped. Calum smirked at the reaction he got from you. His eyes scanning over your backside for a second. His hand reached out to grab your elbow and to make you stop walking. You let out a deep sigh and you turned to look at him.

“Why don’t we sneak away to our little spot,” Calum suggested, wanting to take your mind off the party. “I can do that thing you wanted,” he smirked. You rolled your eyes and pulled away from his touch.

“You have to meet Ria in five minutes and I’m hungry, so I think I’ll pass.” With that said you walked from him and headed towards the Dining Hall. As much as you wanted to feel Calum inside of you, you were also pissed off at him. In spite you had decided on going to the party. Just for one night you didn’t want to be Calum’s side chick. You wanted to enjoy yourself and who was he to tell you not to.

Your friends hooted in happiness as you walked out your room dressed up for the party. “YOU LOOK HOT!” your best friend, Deandra, shouted. “Give me a twirl girl,” she said spinning her finger around. You laughed in delight and turned around to show them the back of your outfit. They cheered even more which only made you laugh harder. It had been a long time since you had gone out with the girls. Calum was the main reason for that. The only person that knew you were a side chick was Deandra. Though she didn’t approve of it you were still her best friend and she wasn’t going to love you any less.

“Alright, alright let’s go before I completely back out of this idea,” you said, grabbing your phone from off the charger. Everyone began to leave your shared apartment and made their way out to the car. Deandra stayed behind with you and waited till the room was clear before speaking.

“Have fun tonight and please don’t let that ass-hat stop you from having a good time,” she said. You smiled at her words and nodded. The two of you left to catch up with the rest of the group. You were about to break rule number six. As long as you stayed a safe distance away from Calum and his girl you should be fine.

Music was blasting loud in your ears and the smell of alcohol instantly hit you as you entered the frat house. You smiled at the sight in front of you; a crowd of diverse people all having fun, drinking, and dancing. You had missed the party scene it almost felt like you were home and a warm feeling of comfort slid down your spine. You followed your group of friends, weaving through everyone until you made it into the kitchen. One of your friends grabbed a cup from off the counter and picked up a bottle of alcohol. “Ladies let’s toast to commemorate Y/N for finally leaving her damn apartment and joining us once again on a party night!” she said, raising the bottle high in the air. You rolled your eyes at her words and raised your empty cup in the air with everyone else.

“Well let’s party then!” you shouted, earning cheers from everyone that was in close proximity of your group. You laughed loudly and grabbed the bottle of alcohol from your friend, pouring it in your cup, and mixing it with some soda. Everyone dispersed and you found yourself joining a group of people watching a game of beer pong. You sipped on your drink and turned away from the game to scan over the room. Not too far away you spotted Calum with his own group of friends. His arm was draped around Ria and whispering in her ear about something. He hadn’t noticed you yet which was good.

“You came!” a familiar voice yelled. You turned around to see Eric. He had changed into a button down shirt and jeans. His light brown hair hidden underneath a snapback just a few strands of it poking out. Your eyes lit up and you embraced him in a hug.

“Yeah I thought why not have some fun ya know,” you said, pulling away from him. “Who did you come with?” you asked, feeling Eric’s hand grab yours and pull you away from the game.

“I came with a few of the guys. They’re somewhere around probably out back,” Eric said loud enough for you to hear. “What about you?” he asked, pulling you into a corner of the living room.

“I came with my friends too,” you told him, back pressed against the wall as you leaned against it. “It’s been a while since I last came to one of these,” you admitted raising the cup up to your lips. Eric nodded at your words and his arm draped over your shoulder. He pointed over to a crowd of people and brought your attention to it.

“Well one thing you’ve missed is that now there are bets placed on how long some of the guys can stay up on the beer keg,” he explained, “My bets on Cooper over there. So far he’s won by ten minutes.” You laughed at the news and then scrunched your face up.

“Uh I’m not one for gambling,” you chuckled, looking over to him. Eric nodded at your words and instead pulled you towards the center where everyone was dancing. Eric began to shimmy around in his spot and rocked his hips to the music.

“I know you can dance beautiful, so show me what you got!” he yelled making everyone’s attention land on the two of you. You began to laugh and started to dance to the music. Your favorite song came on and Eric pulled you into him. You turned around and began to grind into him, feeling his hands land on your hips. It had been such a long time since you had let loose and the alcohol running through your veins only elevated your experience. It all seemed to end quickly when you caught Calum’s eye. He was in the middle of kissing Ria, but his eyes were trained on you. Your shook your head and tried to focus on the hot guy you were dancing with. Calum’s stare was making you uncomfortable and you turned around to face Eric. “Are you okay?” he asked, noticing your smile had faded.

“Yeah. Hey do you want to go somewhere?” you questioned, jutting your thumb over your shoulder towards the exit. You were both swaying to the music now and Eric nodded. You could still feel Calum’s stare and you shifted in your spot. “I’m kinda craving some Mickey D’s fries and I believe I saw one down the street,” you explained, “So I was thinking maybe we could leave the party for a bit and do a quick food run.” Eric looked down at his feet and a small smile embraced his face.

“That actually sounds like a great idea,” he said, his hand sliding down your arm and interlocking your fingers together. He pulled you towards the door and you both made your way to the McDonald’s that was down the street. It was a bit chilly out as the both of you walked and continued to talk some more. “Can I admit something though?” Eric asked after a while as your laughter died down. You nodded and went quiet as you waited for what he had to say. Instead he held the door open for you and you walked into the fast food restaurant. You were still a bit on edge from Calum’s staring and the fact that Eric hasn’t told you what he wanted only increased it. “Two large fries and two sweet teas,” he said, pulling out his wallet to pay. Once you got your order, you both went to find a seat.

“So what did you want to admit?” you giggled in a teasing tone, sliding into a booth that was in the back corner. Eric slid in next to you, his arm resting over your shoulder. You began to munch on the salty treat and turned in your spot to give him your undivided attention.

“I’m glad you came tonight because it gives me the opportu-”

“Y/N! Eric!” the familiar voice exclaimed. You let out a groan and looked up to see Calum. Ria was latched onto his arm and his three best friends were behind him. “Didn’t expect to run into the two of you here,” he smirked. You rolled your eyes and Calum pointed at the empty space inside the booth. “Mind if we join you?” he questioned. You could see the look in Calum’s eyes and knew what was happening. He was jealous. The type of jealous that made you question just exactly where the two of you stood in your “relationship.”

Luke’s grip on your waist felt warm, his slender digits applying a firm pressure to keep you held in place. Your arms rested on his shoulders, hands draped around the back of his neck to allow your fingers to loop through his hair. Twirling the silky strands between your fingertips, you nudged your mouth back against his.

His lips were soft - slightly puffy from the past few minutes of hurried kisses. Hands squeezing your hips, Luke bit against your bottom lip, eliciting a small moan from your breathless mouth. Seizing the new access to your mouth, you felt his tongue slip inside a moment later.
