I am in the process of transcribing my first ever long-term campaign in Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition into a full-fledged novel. This started as a NaNoWriMo challenge, but after 70,000+ words I’m certain that I meant to carry this project to the very end.
Read it as it is published here: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11879381/1/The-Silent-Ones-A-Dungeons-and-Dragons-Adventure
To put things into perspective, this game was played for a full year; we met almost every single week, and each session lasted anywhere from 8 to 12 hours. So you can imagine that I have a mountain of material to cover. Since a direct translation of events would be a ridiculous and convoluted narrative mess, I’m heavily editing what actually happened in order to form some semblance of a cohesive narrative.
Throughout this campaign, I learned about the importance of preparing your materials beforehand, the necessity of knowing the rules and how they interact with one another, and how easy it is to write yourself into a corner time and time again.
I have a couple of the first chapters written and published, so please give it a look if you are interested! I would love any and all literary and storytelling critiques! Have fun and READ ON!
