The list of ways it may be worn can go on forever. Tuck your T-shirt into some bright blue skinny jeans like Zoe Saldana, while running errands in L.A. The beautiful Miranda kerr makes her way to Dior’s Spring/Summer 2012 show in Paris looking super gorgeous paring her white T-shirt with black shorts. 36Boutiques also spotted the Italian actress, Elisabetta Canalis out and about in L.A looking cool in her white T-shirt.
To infinity And Beyond: Lauren Conrad, Dianna Agron and Kristin Cavallari
The infinity scarf, also known as the “snood” is an easy way to add colour, texture or print to your outfit. For a more relaxed look like Lauren Conrad, add a pair of jeans and flip-flops and you are ready to hop about to do your daily errands. 36Boutiques spotted Dianna Agron looking cool, calm and cosy in Los Angeles while on her way to a Jay Z and Kanye West concert. We also love Kristin Cavallari in her leopard print snood as she makes her way through Los Angeles International Airport looking fashionable as always.
Kate Moss doesn’t miss a chance to get dirty at a music festival, and neither do her trusty Hunter boots. Notice all her rock chic outfits over the years include her staple black wellies. Kate may be getting older, but those boots seem to be holding up okay, despite the wear and tear which a weekend at Glastonbury entails…Festival fashion at its best, includes skinny jeans, leather jackets and tiny shorts. Never try too hard to look cool, a laid back ‘i just fell out my tent looking this good’ is the look to go for.
Introducing the classic Hunter boot available in black, red and navy on www.36boutiques.com These boots will be a reliable friend though rain, mud and mayhem for years to come, well worth the investment.
Victoria Beckham inspires us everyday with her exceptional style, she is always put together and polished and the same can be said about her travel style. Recently we chatted about VB’s love of skinny denims and fitted blazers when travelling, however we have also noticed that she loves a comfy dress, which she always pairs with heels and oversized sunnies. This is the a great summer look for anyone travelling long distances, although being realistic most people would wear flats instead of skyscraper heels . Habits have included a slip dress in the travel collection, another practical item which is crease resistant and airplane-friendly. Pair with a leggings, pumps and a blazer and you are set to travel to any remote location in style.
Little Leather Luxuries: As Loved By Kim Kardashian
Since the dip of the recession we have all been lectured at length on the merits of investment shopping. Spending a little more on an item which is built to last, as opposed to repeatedly throwing money at cheap flash trends which only last a season. Hence the allure of leather - it looks better, feels better and lasts as well as you take care of it. Kim Kardashian likes the finer things in life, genuine leather shoes and bags fill her wardrobe, and give her that well-polished look all fashionistas strive for. To make the most out of your investment, remember the four steps to caring for your leather luxuries: 1) Clean, 2) Condition, 3) Polish and 4) Weatherproof. A professional tip is to give your leather shoes a day to breath in between wears, as an organic material it will deteriorate quickly if constantly under strain. Avoid getting caught in the rain too often, if you do, make sure you dry out your leather shoes thoroughly.
These genuine leather platform sandals from Foschini on www.36boutiques.com are a classic timeless shape which can be re-worked from season to season. Make sure you polish them regularly to maintain their looks.
Our Head of Content, Robyn Cooke recently returned from a trip to England, where she bumped into Rosie Huntington-Whiteley at the airport. What we know is this, not only is Rosie gorgeous, but she has impeccable taste in travelling handbags. When Robyn spotted her, she was carrying the enviable Celine but as you can see from the evidence presented, she is almost never spotted without some kind of designer luggage. Rosie chooses these designer handbags because not only are they beautiful but also the perfect carry on size. There really is no need to lug around something dull, boxy and uninspired anymore, the world of travel has changed and so could you. Rosie tends to stick to basic shapes and her look is never upstaged by her handbag, well with the exception of the orange Burberry handbag which is just sublime. We say: try a handbag that is compact yet big enough to fit the essentials, look for neutral tones that will work with your outfit and steer clear of too many bells and whistles. A basic classic is all you need for a sophisticated handbag makeover.
Travel Pack : Charlize Theron, Fergie, Kim Kardashian & Kate Beckinsale
The usual suspects prove yet again, that style is never just a coincidence, it is a choice. In other words anyone can choose to learn how to dress well. These celebrities show you just how to do it when travelling. Our favourite look of the day, is the addition of the blazer. A blazer whether fitted or oversized, always adds a touch of sophistication to a look. Charlize Theron is almost always spotted in a blazer and heels, whether she is travellling or just keeping it low key. This look is just so achievable that almost anyone can put it off. Fergie is more business like in her leather jacket and flare denims, while Kim Kardashian is a vision in white, she adds a oversized blazer with a detailed collar. These small touches make all the difference to any look. Then again you could always work a military style blazer like Kate Beckinsale, this then becomes the focal point , a statement piece, if you will. Whatever your preference make sure the look is tailored and you feel comfortable, like this Habits peplum jacket a trendy accompaniment to any look.
Return Of The Pink Panther: Fergie, Jennifer Lopez & Olivia Wilde
‘Girls just want to have fun’ as they say, and what could be more playful than fuchsia high heels? Fergie, Jennifer Lopez and Olivia Wilde have all been spotted walking tall in colour popping heels. Olivia looked sensational in a high slit cream and black maxi dress, the shocking pink pump was just what the classic dress needed to look fresh and modern. Pink heels will definately get your feet noticed first, so keep this in mind when putting together the rest of your outfit. Fergie’s bright yellow top over powers her glittering heels, where as Jennifer’s little white dress is neutral enough to carry off those towering pink gladiators. Let the shoe make the statement.
These bright pink peep toes, with a glittering platform heel, are an outfit all in themselves. Part of a new collection from Zoom on www.36boutiques.com. Wear with a black dress or leather trousers for pop star glamour.
Snakeskin has become a massive trend in prints and leathers for both this season and continuing into winter. Beyonce Knowles used this larger than life exotic skin tote as a hand luggage bag while traveling with hubby Jay Z from Paris to New York. Whitney Port lunched with a friend in Brentwood California, using this gorgeous python bag to hold all her daily essentials. This season bags are bigger and better, so if you’re going to make a statement in snake print, make it loud and proud. Monochromatic print in white and shades of grey, seems to be the solid favourite of A-Listers, and can be co ordinated with most colours.

Packing ‘light’ is a common dilema amongst all womankind. We spend hours procrastinating about which shoe with which dress, deciding on “what if” scenarios and contemplating the weather forecast. Ideally we would love a stylist to pop out the closet and solve our packing crisis, while we just relax with a cup of tea. Well just in time for the holidays, the team at Habits have created what they call the 'Five Easy Pieces’ – a simple versatile travel collection consisting of a black jacket, smart black trousers, a black skirt, a white shirt (which is easy to wash and doesn’t need to be ironed) and a black tunic dress. Each piece can be worn together to create maximum combinations. To go with the Five Easy Pieces: pack a blazer, a white tank top and a pair of dark jeans which can work for any occasion. Accessorise with a pair of black pumps with a heel, a pair of metallic ballet flats and some bright silk scarves, which can reinvent your look from day to night without too much hassle.

We have decided fashion crush on Solange Knowles, ever since she ditched the long weaves and embraced her natural hair , she has become somewhat of a style icon. We love her take on bright colours and prints prints and more prints. Solange no longer hides behind Beyonce’s shadow, she has found a style that is all her own. She often embraces her ‘African roots’ like in this west African printed mini dress by designer BoxingKitten, the modern cut is cute and sexy. Two weeks ago, Solange stepped out in this brightly coloured printed blazer by Roberto Cavalli, she keeps the rest of the outfit simple and in turn the prints become the hero. Similarly on the red carpet at the Met gala last year, Solange stepped out in this Dries Van Noten floor length dress, the drama of the prints worked perfectly for fashion’s biggest night. Lastly Solange rocked this African printed bustier crop top with these bright canary yellow 70’s flared trousers. Such a natural, she has hit stride and is definitely one fashion style star to watch. You can follow suit by simply embracing SA’s designers and wearing prints in a modern way.
Princess Catherine kept it as casual as a Royal can this past weekend, as she attended a polo match and a camp for inner city children all on one day. One of the reasons Kate or Princess Catherine has become such a huge style icon is because she recycles her outfits, we have seen her wear the same outfits and designers on more than one occasion, mixing and matching accessories and shoes. People love to know that not even a Royal is above wearing an outfit more than once, and Kate plays the role of the modern day princess to perfection. We love that she added this suede jacket to the skinnies and wellies combo as she arrived at the polo match, once again proving that she is both practical and elegant.

Cuffed in the Act : Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez & Jada Pinkett Smith
Statement jewellery pieces are a big trend with the rich and famous, a statement cuff bracelet is perfect for the red carpet as it can add just the right amount of bling without being over-the-top. Many A-list celebs prefer one statement piece as opposed to layering on the jewels. Women like Victoria Beckham have no need to flash their money, she therefore ‘tries’ to keep it low key when she travels with just one Celine Resort cuff bracelet. Jennifer Lopez on the other hand loves to standout, which she does here in this neon green dress, pink heels and silver Hermes cuff. Jada Pinkett-Smith adds just one cuff bracelet to her red carpet look, proving that less really is more.
Hot stepper: Jennifer Lopez, Emma Stone, Mena Suvari & Chloe Sevigny
Red high heels are just one of those things. You walk into a room in a pair of red heels and all heads will turn, the volume will drop ever so slightly, and conversations will stumble. They elude to an era of pin-up icons and curvaceous movie stars, when women were girly and lipstick came standard. Jennifer Lopez breaks the rules, pairing red pumps with a candy pink mannish coat. While Emma Stone plays match-maker, accessorising her peep toes heels to her red dress. Looking like she stepped out of a vintage postcard Mena Suvari combines red heels with a graphic black and white 50s shape dress. In contrast Chloe Sevigny adds a twist to her contemporary masculine suit, her outfit may be unisex but those heels are all woman.
You can always count on Katy Perry to fall in love with a trend and take it to the extreme. This year has seen Katy fall in love with pastels and colourful hair. At the Grammys , Katy arrived in this Elie Saab Spring 2012 Couture gown, and while many felt it would be better suited to an awards ceremony like the Oscars, Katy played it up with matching blue hair. Next Katy travelled to Paris for fashion week where she sported a few designer looks like this head to toe pastel Prada ensemble, complete with flame heels. She followed this look with the sheer Vera Wang panty/dress look paired with a bubblegum pink Jimmy Choo handbag. Maybe not her best look, but daring as ever, Katy wears the look with confidence. Later in the year Katy ditched the blue hair for a dark plum hue, and again matched her hair to this Blumarine gown at the Billboard awards. What can we say about Katy, except that the world would be far less colourful without her daring fashion (and hair colour) choices.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2012 : Thula Sindi
Some more from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town, this time it’s one of our favourite local designers, Thula Sindi. Thula Sindi is already available on 36Boutiques and for good reason, his brand is structured around five main principles - wearability, quality, accessibility, style and value. We believe in these key values and were therefore excited to see what he had in store for us this season. Thula’s contemporary brand is focused on career wear and occasion wear and since the brand was established in 2005 is has built a loyal and growing following.
The Spring/Summer collection, Trash Chic, is true to Thula’s aesthetic in that he created a sophisticated range through using colours, detail and fabrications which are often seen as trashy or indicative of bad taste. This collection was a departure from what we normally see from Thula with tons of black and leather, we enjoyed the edginess and confidence in this collection. We also spotted a few prints; leopard and impressionistic, and although there was much less colour than expected, this did not prove to be bad thing. Plenty of high waisted skirts and one or two peplum silhouettes proves that Thula is interpreting the currents trends in his own way.
South African Fascinators : The YFM twins, Jeannie D, Shashi Naidoo & Bokang Montjane
With the Durban July just a couple of weeks away, we thought this the best time to introduce The Little Hattery on 36Boutiques. The Little Hattery is described as ‘wearable masterpieces for your life’ these beautiful fascinators are perfect for an event like the races. These South African celebs know a thing or two about beautiful 'headgear’ after last year’s event we picked a few of our favourite looks. Hlele and Ntemba Masina, or the YFM twins as they are affectionately called, looked fabulous in their Thula Sindi matching outfits and black and grey fascinator hats. Jeannie D beamed in her Gavin Rajah two piece, while her hat is by designer Jacqueline Kolbe. Model turned businesswoman, Shashi Naidoo was pretty in pale pink, while Miss South Africa 2010, Bonang Montjane was sexy in pleather and miniature lilac tophat . What kind of head piece wearing woman are you? Big and bold, or small and intricate.
The Iconic Hunter Wellington boots have been around for over 150 years worn by some of the most famous people in world, including the late Princess Diana who was photographed in a pair of the wellies in 1981. Princess Diana inspired women around the world with her elegant style, in much the same way that Princess Catherine is inspiring young women today. Angelina Jolie wore a pair of Hunter wellies in the film Mr and Mrs Smith a few years back, another great moment for the footwear brand. With it’s huge celebrity following, Hunters has become synonymous with winter fashion. 36Boutiques now welcomes new metallic Hunter boots to the site, seen here on model Poppy Delevigne.
