Film: My Neighbor Totoro (1988)

Directed By: Hayao Miyazaki

Featuring: Hitoshi Takagi,  Noriko Hidaka,  Chika Sakamoto

There are a lot of things that make Hayao Miyazaki’s film great. What stun’s me every time is his attention to detail. Even the smallest moments are given room. It’s animation but it feels familiar and real. Like a story or fond memory, you are reimagining.

365 Movie Challenge (52/365)

House of Wax (2005)

Starring: Elizabeth Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray, Paris Hilton, Jared Padalecki

You know whats fun? Making a person who has issues with fear watch a horror movie! Yay! Now, I am attempting to get into Supernatural, and since Jared Padalecki is in Supernatural and this movie, I decided to watch this, despite my fear of everything and the fact that Paris Hilton is in it. What I expected was a blood filled cheese fest, but instead I got a terror-less bore. This movie is actually really boring and it hardly scared me (well, except for the whole Paris death scene. That damn pole…ehhh!) What makes it worst though is that all of the characters are a combination of zero character development and terrible acting. Shockingly, Jared and Elizabeth Cuthbert are as bland as white bread in this, while everyone else is extremely one-note. Surprisingly, the most likable character was Paris Hilton’s character Paige. Something is very wrong….To top it off, the twists are either expected or lame and the characters deaths are completely predictable. Nice try studio execs, but this horror remake (yes remake, I will be viewing the original very soon) is downright terrible.
