Film: The Conjuring (2013)
Directed by: James Wan
I have nail marks on my palms from this film. I think I even forgot to breathe at times. I do not reach for the horror films. I am the child who got nightmares from scooby doo on Zombie Island. That means I never watch anything that looks scary. I decided it was a good idea to broaden my horizons in this blog. There are only so many romcoms and comedies can watch on Netflix.
As nervous as it made me I really did like watching this film. Want proof? I am in the process of obtaining the second one. The characters were kind of hollow. Not much to them. but that house more than made up for that. The set was just perfect. I really hope that house actually exists, creepy tree and all, in the real world.
For this film, the comedy moments didn’t work. They forced an unnatural break in the film. It did a great job of escalating the horror in a smoothly in one big arc. No need for the bathroom breaks.
If 1 out of 1 crybabies like me can make it through this film so can you.
Edit. I am also now of the firm belief that every scary movie should have the credit song be the pina colada song.
