34 inch waist

Store Mannequins Versus Real Women: By The Numbers

According to The Guardian, the “average” mannequin measures around six feet tall, with a 34-inch bust, 24-inch waist, and 34-inch hips, and extremely narrow calves, ankles, and wrists. Needless to say, it’s a far cry from the average American woman’s size 14 build (which, according to many mass retailers like J.Crew, is equivalent to a 40.5-inch bust, 33-inch waist, and 43-inch hips).

Height: 5’3 / 163 cm

Starting Weight: Maybe 140 pounds/ 63 kg

Current(ish) weight: 125 pounds / 57 kg

Okay so there’s a pretty big time difference between the first and the rest, but I literally completely forgot i even took a picture at all and I just found this on my phone!

If I’m honest I’m glad I found it because otherwise I feel like I’ve made no progress at all, which confuses everybody because now I can run 5k and workout for 2 hours  but i look at myself and think that none of it has changed. I guess something must have- I bought my first bikini EVER which was a massive milestone (even if i don’t look good in it, or wear it out the point is that I had confidence to buy it in hopes of a better day)

I decided to do this the  healthy way, so started yoga after a years break (and can finally do unsupported headstands and full downwards dog!) Running (could barely do 1.5km at the start) 5k, the 7 minute workout everyday for 100 days, Jillian Michaels 30 day shred (that woman is a goddess) and basically packing in a 15 minutes of dancing, running, abs or whatever between my day.

I cannot say I am happy with my body, but I am happy to have changed. I never knew my starting weight, so I never really had a numerical goal. I measure myself all the time and before I knew it I had gone from 34 inch waist to 30 to 29. Once I had gone below 30 I began to realise I could get to 28, and now am at 27.5. I cannot even wear my old trousers without them falling down, and I cannot believe I was that big around the middle. My final goal is (and don’t laugh) to be able to run my hand down my stomach and at the ‘end’ there will be no large bump of fat. I know thats not what’s important about this health journey i have been on, but I like having a goal in my mind, which to me would like be achieving the one goal I have had since I was 12 years old (16 now- but my parents are the kind of people who call you ‘piggy’ as a kid)

I am so sorry for this ramble, but I want to say thankyou for this page, thankyou for those who have done this the right way and I will see you with updated pics in month or so (THESE EXAMS ARE KILLING ME WHY AM I EVEN ON THE INTERNET RIGHT NOW?!)
