31 day fic challenge

31 Horrific Days [October Writing Challenge]

So it’s still September, BUT the month of Halloween is quickly approaching and I figured some people may like to get a head start on this so they have things to post! Here are 31 prompts for writing, one for each day of October. Skip any days that irk you or that you just don’t have the time and energy for, but feel free to use the tag #31horrificdays so others can see your work! As always, the prompts are up for interpretation and are meant to inspire a plot rather than dictate how it goes - all fandoms, original characters, or even a changing cast is more than welcome! [I may do a part 2 of vague, one-word prompts for those who want something more flexible].

  1. The character goes out on a date (or an outing with a friend) and comes home late that night to see all of their furniture moved/stacked oddly, rotten food in the fridge, but no signs of entry or security issues.
  2. The character learns through conversation that one of their friends hates Halloween.
  3. The character is distressed from several nights of nightmares/sleep paralysis, all of which leave them waking up terrified. Eventually, what they see in their dreams start to blend into reality.
  4. Write a story about supernatural happenings.. from the POV of a character’s pet.
  5. Write a story about a character receiving threatening letters in the mailbox that keep getting scarier and more dangerous every day through the month.
  6. The character, along with one or more others, decide to visit a local haunted house attraction that’s just opened up.
  7. Halloween is rolling around and an odd fair has come to town with all manner of old-fashioned clowns, fire-eaters, and jugglers. The character(s) get their hands on tickets to see the show and cannot resist.
  8. After hearing about an abandoned house in the neighborhood that was supposedly the scene of a gruesome crime years earlier, the character and a friend or two decide to explore the property.
  9. A fun, creepy night of urban exploration gets the character(s) into trouble.
  10. While spending some time at the beach at night, the character comes across something else moving near the shore, something that may or may not be human at all.
  11. The character didn’t plan on any costume for Halloween this year, but their best friend/partner wants to go shopping for the perfect costumes, perhaps even as a themed pair.
  12. Write a plot about a character meeting a fae creature, but realizing they aren’t as pretty and delicate as the fairy tales made them believe.
  13. After watching a horror movie, the character claims there weren’t scared at all. However, once the house is quiet and dark, they’re suddenly hiding under their covers in fear.
  14. With Halloween approaching, weird people have been hanging around town. Very weird people. ‘People in masks standing outside of houses’ weird people, including the character’s house.
  15. Two character end up in a battle over which is better: ghostly horror movies or monster movies?
  16. After the death of a friend or family member, the character (and possibly one or a few others) finds a hidden trap door in their home while cleaning out their belongings. Inside, they uncover secrets the deceased was hiding.
  17. The character makes a new friend who claims to be an actual witch. They end up proving it to them with an impressive display of magic (if the preferred character is actually a witch, feel free to change the POV)
  18. The character ends up locked in another reality where everything around them is just a bit ‘off’, as well as the fact that no one seems to recognize them. Then they meet one other character who does remember them, and appears to be going through the same thing.
  19. The character has a run-in with someone from their past; someone they know for a fact has been dead for years.
  20. The character has had a near-death experience, and is seeing a few moments between worlds before they’re brought back to life.
  21. The character(s) have a run-in with an odd trick-or-treater a week before Halloween, but the eerie child refuses to leave their doorstep
  22. The character, along with one other, travels to the Suicide Forest in Japan (or another famous haunted wilderness of writer’s choice) and uncovers something grisly, or perhaps even gets lost and disoriented.
  23. The muse meets up with an old friend or family member, and together they find home videos from their childhood Halloweens. This could be either a heartwarming experience, or an eerie one if they see something spooky they didn’t remember from their past.
  24. The character starts a brand new job, but quickly learns that there are warnings that come with the job. No wonder they can’t keep employees for more than a few days.
  25. The character (one or more others are optional as well) has been kidnapped and locked in a cellar, trying to find the means of escape.
  26. Write a ghost story including any characters of your choice, with one twist: the story takes place in a past decade or century.
  27. The character has just moved to a new city and isn’t familiar with anyone or anything. As they’re taking a walk late at night to relieve their stress, they have an eerie feeling that they’re being followed down every block.
  28. Write a horror plot centered around a gas station (petrol station).
  29. The character lost a beloved pet a year earlier, and finally decides it’s time to bring home a new shelter pet to love. They’re magnetically drawn to one animal in particular, but once they take it home, they start to suspect that this animal may not be ordinary at all.
  30. Write a story from the perspective of a legendary monster (lagoon creature, zombie, sea monster, yeti, etc)
  31. It’s Halloween night - write a story about a costume party or get-together going terribly wrong.
Trick or Treat!

Characters: Sam x daughter!Reader, Dean, Cas, Garth, Jody, Claire, Rowena, Donna, Alex (mentioned), Crowley (mentioned), Mary (mentioned)

Warnings: fluffiness and I guess it’s kinda crack ish

Word count: 1.1k

Description: Little Y/N wants to go trick or treating but that’s a little tricky when Sam knows all the real threats out there. If he wants to make his little girl happy, he’s going to need the help of some friends.

A/N: Hi! I love this time of year and I loved this challenge! It’s for day six of @winchesters-favorite-girl 31 days of Halloween challenge and my prompt was trick or treating. I instantly had this idea and could not wait to write it down! Hope you all like it xx Masterlist

“Hey! What’s up with Y/N?”

“What about her?”

“I heard her crying in her room just now. Is she okay?”

“Urgh, it’s my fault. She want to go trick or treating like she’s seen in the movies and I told her no. Of course I had to. We can’t take her outside!” Sam brings one hand to his temple and massages it with his thumb and forefinger.

“I see. We could do pumpkins though, she might like that.” Dean suggests, hiding his own excitement at carving fruit- a Halloween tradition he hates to admit he loves, especially with his little niece.

Characters: Dean, Sam, middlesibling!reader

Word Count: 1157

Warnings: language, underage drinking

Written for @winchesters-favorite-girl‘s 31 Days of Halloween Challenge! My prompt was “aliens.” I just smushed up a bunch of my favorite alien-related things (X-Files, the Ancient Aliens drinking game which I cannot recommend enough, and inspiration from Clap Your Hands If You Believe). This is pure silliness involving teenage Winchester shenanigans.

“Donut?” Dean said, offering the box to Sam as he emerged from the bathroom.

“Yeah right,” Sam replied, rolling his eyes. “What’d you do? Mayo?”

“Told you that was an old one, Dean,” you said.

Characters: Dean and Sam Winchester, sister!reader, John Winchester

Words: 1500

Warnings: None, really. Some fluff, minor angst, but nothing bad!

A/N: Hey guys! This is a fic I wrote for @winchesters-favorite-girl‘s 31 Days of Halloween Challenge. My prompt was candy, and I, for once, decided to write something not super angsty haha. Actually, the ending might even be sugary sweet (ba dum tss). The reason for the gif is that young Jensen is hella cute. Anyways, hope you like it! ♡

Dean’s age: 17     Sam’s age: 13     Reader’s age: 9

Tell me what you thought! It’s appreciated <3

Your name: submit What is this?

It was the middle of an October afternoon, and the weather was chilly with gray clouds hanging heavily in the sky. Enclosed inside the Impala, you watched on with round eyes as the car drove past houses. Large houses with white picked fences and that probably smelled like freshly baked apple pie. Houses with mowed lawns and trees. Houses dressed with Halloween decorations that made your stomach painfully twist in envy. The houses were a representation of a life you’d never get, that you had longed for, but never missed as much as you did right now.

All you wanted was to, for once, celebrate Halloween like seemingly everybody else. You wanted to go trick-or-treating, eat candy, decorate a house and dress up with Sam and Dean. And the perfect houses and the perfect lives just kept passing by outside your car window as if there was an endless amount of them. Meanwhile, the lump in your throat just grew.

Alcohol Break

Characters/Pairings: Sam, Dean, sister!reader, Jack, sales clerk briefly

Warnings: There’s like one bad word, but that’s all.

Word count: 1495

A/N: This is my fic for Katie’s 31 Days Of Halloween challenge. ( @winchesters-favorite-girl ) My prompt was decorations and today is still technically the day for it because it’s only 10 pm here and today has been crazy. I hope y’all like it!

If you would like to be added or removed from a tag list or would like to make a request, please send me an ask!

Dean told me I could get a few decorations, but that was it. Then, he set me loose in the Dollar Tree which was an obvious mistake because I swiped a basket and took off, cackling as he grumbled and trotted to keep up with me. I immediately  started grabbing random items that I decided I needed to decorate the bunker and he watched me like a hawk, occasionally taking something from my hand with a huff because I guess he didn’t want it.

So, I’d simply wait until he took his eyes off of me, even for a moment, then shove to item under all the contents of my basket. I think he noticed and eventually traded trying to reel be back in for just keeping an eye on me.

I strolled around the store, casually scanning the shelves. At this particular store, there were a couple Halloween themed items down each aisle, even the toiletries. So, I deemed it a brilliant idea to a couple rolls of orange toilet paper with spiders printed on it, smirking at all the ideas popping into my head.

Not long after my discovery, however, I glanced down and realized my basket was pretty full. I could see Dean cautiously shuffling towards me, pretending he was inspecting the shampoo scents, but I knew he wanted my basket. So, naturally, I dashed off the other direction earning another angry grumble and he started after me.

“Y/N, come on!” he yelled at me from down the aisle.

A/N: So, this is my contribution to the eleventh day of the 31 Little Wrestling Fics challenge! (Barely on time, mind you.) I have mixed feelings about how it turned out, but I’m super happy I got a chance to participate.

Also, I’d like to give a special shoutout to @fan-fiction-galore. Even though I’ve known her for about a month, the little interactions we’ve had has been a joy and I wish her all the best on her new journey!

MMFD fanfic masterpost

a note about my fics

there are difficult topics in some of them, including rape, homophobia, violence, mental illness, suicide, racism, sexism etc - just be prepared for that

i have been told i write fairly pornographic smut, so if that’s not your thing, might want to give it a miss, but the smut is not more important than the plot (unless it’s a smutty one shot)

please let me know if any of these links don’t work.

cheers m'dears

Kinktober Fic Challenge Day 31: Priest/demon (broadly interpreted)

Overwatch, Reaper76

Another one that is safe for work–more spooky than sexy.  Thanks to @joasakura once again for the prompt!

It’s an old game, but they still remember those in farm country: eat an apple by candlelight before a mirror at midnight to see the face of your destined lover reflected back at you.  Jack thinks they’re defining ‘midnight’ pretty liberally, but they’re a pack of teenagers at a Halloween party.  The fun is in the superstitious thrill, and the tall tales they spin for each other about what they supposedly saw.  Maura, who hadn’t been paying attention when the game was laid out, tried to tell them all she’d just seen Bloody Mary.

“Come on, Jack, it’s your turn!”

He takes the apple that’s pushed into his hand and takes his place before the mirror.  Takes a moment to position himself so the candlelight strikes his face to best effect, because what’s the point if he’s not going to create an atmosphere?  Besides, the little gullible corner of his mind that’s not completely convinced this won’t work suggests that he look his best just in case his lover actually does turn up.

He can barely see any of the others in the dark behind him.  They’re all standing back against the wall, because there’s no mood killer like having all your stupid friends breathing down your neck when you’re trying to do something spooky and magical.

He shuffles his feet a bit, tries to work himself into a mood where eating an apple feels like a prelude to something instead of a ridiculous anti-climax, and then takes a bite.

There’s a hush, just like they have every time, as everyone in the room holds their breath, just like they have every time.  It kind of works, though; almost despite himself, Jack feels that creeping tingle of anticipation as they all wait together for something to happen.

When he sees movement behind him in the reflection, he figures it’s Josie or David, shifting against the back wall.  Then he realizes he can’t see anything in the mirror, except his own face.

And then he can:  a broad-shouldered, shadowy man resolves like smoke behind his left shoulder, white skull mask floating like a beacon in the candlelight.  Jack flinches, wide-eyed, as gleaming claws come up to stroke his hair.  He’d swear he can feel their cold points as they drift around and down to cup the side of his face.

In his mind, Jack begs it to stop as it reaches up with its other hand to pull its mask off.  A blurred, twisted black oil slick of a face, a curve of recognizable cheekbone and a streak of jagged white that might be bone or teeth.  It presses a tender, freezing kiss to his jaw, inhuman red eyes meeting his in the mirror with intimate confidence, like it saw right to the center of him years ago and knows what it’ll find there.

And then it’s gone, and he’s stumbling back from the mirror, gasping like he’s just been strangled.

There’s an awed hush, and then the questions.  “Holy shit, Jack, what did you see?”  Josie sounds so impressed, like the shock that’s rocking through him is a party trick for her entertainment.  The other kids crowd around, eager to hear the punchline.  Josie’s question gets repeated from a few mouths before Jack can manage to find his voice.

“Nothing,” he says, pushing hands and bodies away so he can get to the door.  “I didn’t see anything.”

That face keeps him company in his dreams for a long, long time.

Day 26 - what feature(s) do(es) your character speak through

Fahleon’s nearly forgotten what a smile feels like. He can’t remember the shape his mouth is supposed to make or which way his brow should move, how bright his eyes need to be. The struggle isn’t worth the minuscule expression that will just be forgotten the moment it’s over, and he let his face fall flat and rubbed at his jaw, cheeks aching just from that. Frowns are more suited to his thin lips and long face and scowls are more comfortable, but there’s little difference between one angle of his mouth and another - he looked angry no matter how he made himself.

The meaning still got through, sometimes, even if he never understood how. No one’s been upset with him so far when he returns their bright greeting with a curt nod or meets their laugh with a slight shift of an eyebrow. Maybe his cheeks pink, but he can’t see it to confirm.

He can feel his ears, the traitors. It’s likely where most of the communication comes from, and Fahleon traced the eye pattern of the next person he met. They shifted left, first, and right, second, and Fahleon wanted to cover the sides of his head. He did feel his face heat, then, and he turned away. All the while he felt his ears twitch in the direction of the parting conversation. Interesting.

They perked forward when he was attentive or caught of guard and lowered, flat against his head when truly angry. An occasional twitch followed a sense of unease, or flicked violently in irritation. They settled somewhere in between pointed high and downcast when he found brief, rare moments to relax, and went very red when it was brought up.

Day 20 - “I can’t feel my leg” ft. Levy

“I can’t feel my leg.” Fahleon looked up with little haste, and even less concern. The Warden’s bright smile faltered at the cool expression before cracking, and he crossed his arms instead with a pout. “You could at least look surprised.”

The elf shook his head with a sigh. “The joke’s getting old,” he said, rising and crossing the room. He slapped the aforementioned leg and metal rang loud and clear under his hand. The Warden slipped off his boot and the prosthetic with it to stop the ringing deep within his bones and rubbed at the mess of scar tissues that was all but left of the limb. “Feel that?”

“A little. Sometimes I think I can still feel the whole thing. What about you?” Fahleon watched the Warden’s eyes trace his left half and slip down the empty sleeve of his arm. “Can you feel it?”

Fahleon lifted his shoulder. Muscles yet to be fully healed pulled in a way that made his neck sore. “Sometimes.”

He nodded, a frown forming on his face. “You’ll get used to it, I’m sure.” He fixed the replacement limb back on his knee and stretched it out, once, before yanking up his boot again to hide it.

“Where did you get it?”

The Warden snorted. “Talkative today?” Fahleon crossed his arms and he waved it off with another laugh. “Wade, actually, in Denerim. We ran into some drakes along the way and Leliana - you knew her, didn’t you? - thought to take their hides. I thought she just thought of their scales of pretty, but I guess they’re worth a pretty silver or two if you find the right buyer. Wade heard us, somehow, over the market crowd and came running like the Archdemon was after him.” He grinned at the memory and tapped at his leg himself. “I’m not strong enough for armor and I can’t wield a blade. It was Zevran’s idea, anyway…” He cleared his throat. “He does good work - Wade, I mean.”

Fahleon nodded, and wondered who heavy a drake-scale arm would be.

Richard Armitage 31 Day Challenge - Day 17: A favourite fan fic / fan art

I’m not much of a fan fic reader and I’m not a great fan of fan art, I must say (sorry). There are lots of talented people out there but I probably can’t appreciate their art. Recently I’ve seen some stuff I liked, though.

On the other hand, I loved Planet715′s portraits of Richard

Walking at the Stage Door….

Richard’s characters

….and I love Fishnana and her tinies. They are really lovely and funny.
