A Chinese soldier of the 90th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division in a trench mans an American-made M1 81 millimeter caliber mortar during the Battle of Bhamo of the Burma Campaign. The battalion had been heavily bombarded by the Japanese for over a week, but didn’t lose their resolve. The Chinese were able to oust the Japanese from Bhamo on 14 December 1944, placing the Chinese soldiers in Burma only fifty air miles from their fellow Chinese soldiers in Yunnan. U.S. Army soldiers with Company C, 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, from Forward Operating Base Torkham, conduct a dismounted patrol from one of their observation points to an Afghan Border Police checkpoint, Nov. 18, 2013.
