I’m not much of a pin collector, but I love this pin. It was created for the Haunted Mansion 30th Anniversary event on June 26, 1999. This was just before pin collecting became a big business for Disney, and to my knowledge this was the first limited edition Haunted Mansion pin. It was also the first piece of merchandise to come in a black cardboard coffin. Disney later sold quite a few items at the Haunted Mansion Holiday events in similar tiny caskets, but this one is a little better made and has the event logo printed in silver on the lid.
The pin is metal with a pewter-like finish. The back reads
In the early 2000′s there were rumors that bootleg knockoffs of this pin were in circulation. If it doesn’t come in the original coffin, it may be a fake!
At the event Disney tried to limit this pin to two per guest, but they were sold at multiple locations in the park and there was nothing stopping people from getting in multiple lines - or even the same line multiple times.
This pin is #1069 on pinpics.com. Pin is 1 1/2″ tall by 7/8″ wide. Coffin is 4 7/8″ tall by 2 5/8″ wide.
“ I think that Jareth is, at best, a romantic; but at worst, he’s a spoiled child, vain and temperamental. I think he has inherited his Kingdom of Goblins reluctantly, and runs it under duress. But he’s completely smitten by the character Sarah- she’s pretty strong-willed and pure. ”
