60. Cinema Paradiso

Alfredo: Living here day by day, you think it’s the center of the world. You believe nothing will ever change. Then you leave: a year, two years. When you come back, everything’s changed. The thread’s broken. What you came to find isn’t there. What was yours is gone. You have to go away for a long time… many years… before you can come back and find your people. The land where you were born. But now, no. It’s not possible. Right now you’re blinder than I am.

Salvatore: Who said that? Gary Cooper? James Stewart? Henry Fonda? Eh?

Alfredo: No, Toto. Nobody said it. This time it’s all me. Life isn’t like in the movies. Life… is much harder.

31. In The Name Of The Father

What I remember most about my childhood is holding your hand. My wee hand in your big hand, and the smell of tobacco. I remember, I could smell the tobacco in the palm of your hand. When I want to feel happy, I try to remember the smell of tobacco.

6. Marley & Me

A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn’t care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he’ll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?

38. Under The Tuscan Sun

Martini: Signora, between Austria and Italy, there is a section of the Alps called the Semmering. It is an impossibly steep, very high part of the mountains. They built a train track over these Alps to connect Vienna and Venice. They built these tracks even before there was a train in existence that could make the trip. They built it because they knew some day, the train would come.

11. The Help

Every day you’re not dead in the ground, when you wake up in the morning, you’re gonna have to make some decisions. Got to ask yourself this question: “Am I gonna believe all them bad things them fools say about me today?” You hear me today? “Am I gonna believe all them bad things them fools say about me today?” All right? As for your mama, she didn’t pick her life. It picked her. But you, you’re gonna do something big with yours. You wait and see.

5. 50/50

See, but… that’s bullshit. That’s what everyone has been telling me since the beginning. “Oh, you’re gonna be okay,” and “Oh, everything’s fine,” and like, it’s not… It makes it worse… that no one will just come out and say it. Like, “hey man, you’re gonna die.”

29. Riding In Cars With Boys

Sometimes we love people so much that we have to be numb to it. Because if we actually felt how much we love them, it would kill us. That doesn’t make you a bad person. It just means your heart’s too big.

49. Pitch Perfect

Cynthia Rose: I have a confession to make.

Fat Amy: Oh, here it comes. Lesbihonest.

Cynthia Rose: This is hard for me to admit to you guys, but for the past two years, I have had a serious gambling problem.

Fat Amy: Wait… what?

Cynthia Rose: It all started when I broke up with my girlfriend.

Fat Amy: Whoop, there it is!

22. Amélie

Amélie a six ans.

55. Pineapple Express

Dale Denton: In case you haven’t noticed - which you haven’t, ‘cause from what I can tell, you don’t notice anything ever - we are not very functional when we’re high.

Saul: Well, I don’t know, man. I think I’m functioning right now. I was, like, stoned when I saved you with those slushies. What do you gotta say to that?

Dale Denton: Well, that would be true if you had saved me. But you didn’t save me. She was gonna help us, but you made things worse. Now we’re wanted for all sorts of crazy shit!

Saul: Don’t fucking get on my case, all right? Look, only reason I started selling pot is so I could put my bubbeh in a nice retirement home.

Dale Denton: [sarcastically] Oh, yeah, she must be proud of you for that.

Saul: She is really proud of me, and I’m gonna become something, man! As soon as she dies, I’m gonna become a civil engineer. I’m gonna design septic tanks for playgrounds. Little kids can take shits! You idiot, what the hell do you do?

32. A Beautiful Mind

What truly is logic? Who decides reason? My quest has taken me to the physical, the metaphysical, the delusional, and back. I have made the most important discovery of my career - the most important discovery of my life. It is only in the mysterious equations of love that any logic or reasons can be found. I am only here tonight because of you. You are the only reason I am. You are all my reasons. Thank you.
