30 Day Psych Challenge

Day 5: Favorite Shawn Spencer moment

i have waaaay too many (for example all his 80s references and most shules moments) but i also like

he seems like a little kid who got his toy taken away

he’s just so clever (and its their almost first kiss)

he’s so overprotective and caring here *fangirl sigh*

need i say more?

i also really like the scene in Yang 3 in 2Dwhen him Yang and Jules are debating over his order of vinyl and when yin is about to kill Gus and Shawn tells him he’ll kill him if he kills Gus (i love a friendship like that)

2. The First episode of Psych you ever saw.

That would be Spellingg Bee.  I hadn’t seen it on USA yet, as I think our cable had been cut.  HOWEVER, NBC was reairing episodes on Friday nights I believe. One night while I was waiting on a phone call from my boyfriend I tuned in and fell in love with Shawn. :P

30-Day Psych Challenge ~ Day 11: Favorite Buzz McNab Moment

Okay, so I love Buzz. He’s so legit.

This. Is. Wonderful.

And I love just about every time Buzz has to apprehend Shawn and Gus.

The time he gets almost blown up and loses one eyebrow. Just all the dialougue from that scene. I love Buzz. And I think this is my all time favorite moment from him. So far.

30 Day Psych Challenge: Day Four

Day Four: Favourite Recurring Character: Mary Lightly

Now, this was hard, because I do love Buzz McNab to death, but in the end I had to go with my reaction as I think of them and while Buzz brings an adoring smile on my lips, my reaction to Mary is much stronger, which could of course be due to his tragic departure.

I love Mary’s creepiness. Especially when he’s really not aware that he’s behaving in such a manner. I mean, his line in Mr. Yin Presents, when they all think he might be Yin and Carlton tells him they are all ears? Why yes, Carlton, you really are all ears! Of course, he was the star of that episode anyway.

I was soooo happy when he was brought back in the last part of the trilogy! Yes, he is by far my favourite recurring character and I am ever so sad that we will never see him again. Unless he made more videos. And that wouldn’t be the same.

Rest in peace, you lovely freak! (and I say that with all the love in my heart)

30 Day Psych Challenge: Day 20

Day 20: Favorite “Gus, don’t be…” line

“Gus, don’t be this crevice in my arm.”

“Gus, don’t be an old sponge with hair hanging off of it.”

“Gus, don’t be Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Marzipan."

"Gus, don’t be the only black lead on a major cable network.”

Did I mention my U.S. History teacher quoted Psych?  We were talking about something and he said it was like a gooey chocolate chip.  :P

30 Day Psych Challenge: Day Three

Day Three: Favourite Main Character: Lassiter.

Now, I don’t think that can come as a shock to anyone knowing me, or perhaps even following me: After all, he’s my avatar.

I can’t pin the exact episode where Lassiter turned into more than just one of the characters on screen for me, but I do know it was before S1E11: “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not, He Loves Me, Oops He’s Dead.” Why? Because I kept hoping that Carlton would be ending up in a field naked …

So since in Shawn vs. the Red Phantom (S1E7) we first saw that there was much, much more to the man than the cold exterior he treated us to, I suppose it must have been around that time that I started developing my love for him.

Lassiter reminds me, in a way, of Heathcliff (Wuthering Heights), and Severus Snape (Harry Potter). He is deeply hurt and lashes out all the time, yet all he wants is to be loved. And that’s the sort of man I find irresistible.

I can’t help but smile from ear to ear when he’s being sarcastic or hurtful to other people. Even when he does not even realise (or cares) that what he’s saying might be very hurtful to others .. And those few times when we glimpse a little more from him, when we witness his true emotions, his inner struggles? That’s when I want to put my arms through the screen and hug him so tightly that he will never doubt again whether he’s loved.

Day 4: Favorite Recurring Character

Probably either Pierre Despereaux (Portrayed by the wonderful Cary Elwes) OR Father Peter Westley (portrayed by Ray Wise).  When I first saw Pierre I had to giggle as I’ve had a crush on Cary Elwes since I was a young'un.  I was just very happy to see Ray Wise as a priest because he was SO good as the Devil in Reaper!  Also happy to see him turn up in Dual Spires since I watched him on Twin Peaks ages ago. :)

30-Day Psych Challenge ~ Day 5: Your Favorite Shawn Spencer Moment

Oh gosh! How do I choose? He’s just so freaking awesome!

This might have to be one of my favorites but I don’t think there’s any possible way to choose one.

Jules: What would you say that we’re doing?
Shawn: I call it “very close talking”.
Jules: Ah, I see. Do you have anything else to say?
Shawn: No. I think I’m good for now.

My favorite 3rd season episode is a toughie, because I think Season 3 is the best season of the show, and almost every episode feels so special. A big part of me wanted to go with “An Evening With Mr. Yang” because of the fact that it started the amazing finale trilogy series of episodes, but after looking over a list of episodes I knew that choosing that would be a lie.

My favorite episode of season 3 is “Tuesday the 17th” because it was the first time a comedy show left me feeling genuinely frightened. While the episode was absolutely humorous, and contained a great deal of heart, I was mostly captivated by the level of fright that I felt as the real murders began to happen. This episode elevated “psych” to another level, and I think that it set the stage for “An Evening With Mr. Yang” because without having a funny/dark lead in the dark tones of that episode could have felt overpowering.

2. The First episode of Psych you ever saw.

I sometimes have to remind myself that I haven’t been watching Psych forever.  I actually started watching it rather late in the series, if I’m honest with myself.

The first episode I ever saw was Murder?…Anyone?…Anyone?…Bueller?.  Claire and I were sitting in a log cabin (this is still one of my fondest memories, please note that we should not be left alone ever, much less for long periods of time) and Psych came on.  We (I speak for both of us here, even though I have no knowledge of Claire’s feelings and have not consulted her before writing this) were hooked.  As soon as we went home we (and my ‘we’ I mean 'I’, as Claire never pays for anything) spent all our money buying the first two seasons of Psych.  And then I abandoned her and watched them all by myself, becoming a rabid fangirl while she worked.  I mean, she’s a fangirl too, but she gets work done and stuff.

Anyway.  The high school reunion episode was first.  And 'no body no crime’ is still a phrase I repeat with some regularity.
