i have waaaay too many (for example all his 80s references and most shules moments) but i also like
he seems like a little kid who got his toy taken away
he’s just so clever (and its their almost first kiss)
he’s so overprotective and caring here *fangirl sigh*
need i say more?
i also really like the scene in Yang 3 in 2Dwhen him Yang and Jules are debating over his order of vinyl and when yin is about to kill Gus and Shawn tells him he’ll kill him if he kills Gus (i love a friendship like that)
That would be Spellingg Bee. I hadn’t seen it on USA yet, as I think our cable had been cut. HOWEVER, NBC was reairing episodes on Friday nights I believe. One night while I was waiting on a phone call from my boyfriend I tuned in and fell in love with Shawn. :P
Day Four: Favourite Recurring Character: Mary Lightly
Now, this was hard, because I do love Buzz McNab to death, but in the end I had to go with my reaction as I think of them and while Buzz brings an adoring smile on my lips, my reaction to Mary is much stronger, which could of course be due to his tragic departure.
I love Mary’s creepiness. Especially when he’s really not aware that he’s behaving in such a manner. I mean, his line in Mr. Yin Presents, when they all think he might be Yin and Carlton tells him they are all ears? Why yes, Carlton, you really are all ears! Of course, he was the star of that episode anyway.
I was soooo happy when he was brought back in the last part of the trilogy! Yes, he is by far my favourite recurring character and I am ever so sad that we will never see him again. Unless he made more videos. And that wouldn’t be the same.
Rest in peace, you lovely freak! (and I say that with all the love in my heart)
Now, I don’t think that can come as a shock to anyone knowing me, or perhaps even following me: After all, he’s my avatar.
I can’t pin the exact episode where Lassiter turned into more than just one of the characters on screen for me, but I do know it was before S1E11: “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not, He Loves Me, Oops He’s Dead.” Why? Because I kept hoping that Carlton would be ending up in a field naked …
So since in Shawn vs. the Red Phantom (S1E7) we first saw that there was much, much more to the man than the cold exterior he treated us to, I suppose it must have been around that time that I started developing my love for him.
Lassiter reminds me, in a way, of Heathcliff (Wuthering Heights), and Severus Snape (Harry Potter). He is deeply hurt and lashes out all the time, yet all he wants is to be loved. And that’s the sort of man I find irresistible.
I can’t help but smile from ear to ear when he’s being sarcastic or hurtful to other people. Even when he does not even realise (or cares) that what he’s saying might be very hurtful to others .. And those few times when we glimpse a little more from him, when we witness his true emotions, his inner struggles? That’s when I want to put my arms through the screen and hug him so tightly that he will never doubt again whether he’s loved.
My favorite season 2 episode of “psych” is “American Duos.” It has everything a good episode could need, Tim Curry, bad dancing, good dancing, a stirring rendition of “Shout” featuring great costuming. What more could a person ask for!
Probably either Pierre Despereaux (Portrayed by the wonderful Cary Elwes) OR Father Peter Westley (portrayed by Ray Wise). When I first saw Pierre I had to giggle as I’ve had a crush on Cary Elwes since I was a young'un. I was just very happy to see Ray Wise as a priest because he was SO good as the Devil in Reaper! Also happy to see him turn up in Dual Spires since I watched him on Twin Peaks ages ago. :)
Okay class. Today we discuss the perfectness of this photo and the cute little dog being held by the cutest couple in the world. Next we’ll discuss the number of times a variation of this picture shows up in my Psych picture folder, followed by the large amount of Jaggie pictures. We’ll wrap it up with the fact that someone was very clever in putting seven pineapples on this cake.
*Edit: Of the 415 pictures in my Psych picture folder, I believe 8 are a variation of this picture and 193 are pictures of James and Maggie together.
i think its mainly the bromance b/w shawn and gus and cuz its a funny detective show i love a good mystery and i was intrigued by the shawn/juliet flirtations (i came in season 2) and yea its just an awesome funny show and i need a funny show
In short, because it makes me happy. I discovered Psych when I was in a very dark place and at some point, Psych was literally the only thing that could bring a smile on my face.
The less short version: I love Psych because it’s entertaining, smart and surprising. The characters are interesting and I always want to know what happens to them next.
Shawn and Gus have the best friendship ever; there’s always something happening, which gives the show a fast pace. The main characters have fantastic interaction with each other, which usually aren’t nice to the other, mainly because they have known each other for such a long time and know the other won’t just end the friendship. They give each other crap but they always know it’s because of love.
Actually, all interactions are awesome, the writers really put a lot of work into character development (mind you, in earlier seasons). There are so many jokes, it’s sometimes impossible to keep up with them. This is mainly thanks to James Roday, who brilliantly portrays Shawn Spencer and is the ad-lib King of the Lab!
It’s hard to be a smart show without being pretentious. And Psych does that. The plots are (often) smart, the interactions between characters–may it be Shawn and Gus, Shawn and Lassiter or basically any other character appearing in the show, it’s just smart. And witty. Now, Shawn isn’t always acting smart, especially when he is going through what he went through this Season (5), but in the end we always see that there’s much more to him and a dumbie wouldn’t solve as many crimes as he does.
Things aren’t always what they seem, and even though the main reason for the show often seems to be to joke around, when it’s necessary, they can get very serious and even bring you to tears. A lot of the plot twists I personally do not see coming, and I love that a lot about the show.
There is no such thing as one dimensional characters in Psych. Even the guest characters often have more to them than just the obvious. And you can tell that the actors are having fun playing the character–not just the guests, but also the main characters. They are well developed (even though some could be more developed, since fans will be fans and will ask for more .. always) and are able to touch you .. surprisingly easily at times. This is not only a credit to the actors, but to the writers and the director(s) as well.
All in all, Psych is just an amazing show, and I could go on and on about it. Fact is, that it (still) makes me feel happy. When I watch Psych, that little spot surrounded by darkness lights up for 43 minutes. And that’s something to go on for.
