Iraqi soldiers and paratroopers from 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division’s 2nd Advise and Assist Brigade fire at paper targets, with a variety of weapons during the opening of the Anbar Operation Center’s new range in Ramadi, Iraq, Sept 10. With a long history of supporting U.S. military operations in Iraq, the 2/82 and it’s paratroopers are enabling the withdraw of U.S. military forces in Iraq.

Spc. Robert Ryder and Spc. William Chavez, automated field artillery tactical data systems specialists with Battery B, 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, escort sheep out of harm’s way during an air re-supply in Bala Marghab District, Aug. 23. Soldiers from Forward Operating Base Todd receive most of their supplies using air drops because of the tough terrain in the area.

My Brigade on monday, July 22nd at 2:30pm in front of the STRIKE OEF 10-11 Fallen Hero Memorial (one of the most decorated and deployed units in today’s military, STRIKE) is holding its PUC Presentation Ceremony. STRIKE is being awarded the PUC for its actions and accomplishments while deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan.

To be awarded the citation, the unit must have been set apart and above other units participating in the same campaign in their display of gallantry, determination, and spirit de corps under extremely difficult and hazardous conditions to accomplish the mission.
The actions required to be awarded the citation could not reasonably be performed for any extended time periods except under very unusual circumstances. Rarely will a unit larger than a battalion meet the qualifications for award of this decoration and STRIKE has defied the odds.

The other names associated with the PUC:
Normandy, Bastogne, AnKhe, DakTo and now Kandahar
