December 29th 1890: Wounded Knee Massacre

On this day in 1890, hundreds of Native Americans were killed by United States government forces at Wounded Knee, South Dakota. Tensions between the federal government and the indigenous peoples of America had led to frequent bouts of warfare ever since the country was first colonised by Europeans. These wars became particularly intense during the latter half of the nineteenth century, and despite several key victories for Native Americans - most famously at the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876 - the federal government increasingly pushed native peoples onto reservations. The government were particularly alarmed by the growing Ghost Dance movement, which was a spiritual movement which prophesised the imminent defeat of the white man and the resumption of the traditional Indian way of life. The movement factored into mounting tensions at Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, which were exacerbated by the murder of Sioux chief Sitting Bull on December 15th 1890. The situation came to a head fourteen days later, when the U.S. Army’s 7th Cavalry surrounded a group of Ghost Dancers, under the leadership of Lakota Sioux chief Big Foot, near Wounded Knee Creek in the reservation. During this confrontation, a shot was fired, and the fighting descended into a massacre of Native Americans by the well-equipped army. It is estimated that around 200 people died - nearly half of whom were women and children - though some historians place the number much higher. Only 25 U.S. soldiers were killed, and 20 of the survivors were awarded the Medal of Honor. The Wounded Knee massacre was a pivotal moment in the history of indigenous relations in North America, as it marks the last major confrontation of the Indian wars. The incident also provides a poignant symbol around which Native American activist groups have rallied, providing the title for Dee Brown’s famous history Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (1970), and becoming the focal point of the occupation of Wounded Knee in 1973.

To stop terrorism against Americans, Donald Trump should ban Americans from America

  • The Trump administration is considering banning visas from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
  • Terrorism in the U.S. is a primarily homegrown phenomenon. Trump’s order does nothing to counter this.
  • In 2015, the New York Times reviewed the backgrounds of 20 Islamic extremist attackers in the U.S. since the Sept. 11, 2001, and found that half of the assailants were born in the United States.
  • An additional five attackers were fully naturalized citizens, while just three were in the U.S. with green cards and one held a tourist visa.
  • Since 2015, the trend hasn’t changed in high-profile attacks. Omar Mateen, Pulse nightclub shooter in Orlando, was born in New York.
  • Ahmad Khan Rahami, the man who detonated bombs which wounded 29 in New York on Sept. 17, was born in Afghanistan in 1988 but was a naturalized citizen since 2011.
  • Esteban Santiago Ruiz, the 26-year-old U.S. military veteran who killed five and wounded six others at Ft. Lauderdale Airport on Jan. 6, was a U.S. citizen.
  • Of the high profile terror attacks in 2016, only 18-year-old Abdul Razak Ali Artan, the Ohio State University student who wounded 11 people on Nov. 28, might have been impeded by Trump’s order,
  • But only by preventing him from entering the country while he was a child, long before he was radicalized. Artan was a Somali refugee.
  • What about 9/11? Of the 19 total 9/11 attackers, 15 were from Saudi Arabia, two came from the United Arab Emirates, and one each from Egypt and Lebanon. None of which are included in Trump’s list.
  • In June 2015, the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security reported, based on surveys of 382 law enforcement organizations, that:
  • “Law enforcement agencies in the United States consider anti-government violent extremists, not radicalized Muslims, to be the most severe threat of political violence that they face.”
  • Since most U.S. terror attacks are committed by homegrown extremists, not foreigners, and perceived persecution is a commonly cited motivation among terror suspects…
  • Trump’s order could do little to prevent attacks but perpetuate the narrative of civilization-scale conflict that groups like the Islamic State, also know as ISIS, rely upon to radicalize new converts. Read more

The 21th Anniversary of The Ibrahimi Mosque Massacre

The Palestinian people have their own calendar in which almost every day of the year goes back to a painful and atrocious massacre that the Israeli Occupation committed against our people. Everyday we have to look back in anger and remember those who fell victim in the course of the our Palestinian history that has been recorded by our people’s blood, sacrifices and suffering under the most brutal and inhumane colonial entity of Zionism.
the Ibrahimi Mosque massacre in Hebron on Feruary 25, 1994, when Baruch Goldstein, an Israeli settler and a member of the far-right Israeli Kach movement, opened his hateful fire on unarmed Palestinian Muslims while they were in Sujoud position inside killing 29 of them and wounding 150 within 48-hour time. If he wasn’t killed by survivors then, the number of victims would have continued to rise.
And guess what the Israeli Occupation did then? They just locked those victims who were left between dead and injured inside and didn’t allow ambulances access to rescue them and forced media blackout. But once the news about this massacre spread out, revolutionary Palestinian charged with anger rioted throughout Hebron and the number of martyrs about Palestinian people reached 50. In the weeks following the massacre, thousands of Israelis traveled to Goldstein’s grave to celebrate Goldstein’s actions. You learn this and then you laugh in bitterness at the absurd that all this is happening to us and then we are the ones accused of hatred and terrorism because we’re just resisting and defending our lands and people’s lives and dignity.

Brian Lee Draper and Torey Michael Adamcik are currently serving life sentences without the possibility for parole, for murdering their classmate Cassie Jo Stoddart on September 22, 2006.

Cassie Jo Stoddart attended Pocatello High School, along with Draper and Adamcik.
On the night of September 22, 2006, Cassie was house sitting for her aunt and was visited by her boyfriend Matt. Later, Draper and Adamcik showed up.
The four decided to watch a movie together, until Draper and Adamcik said they’d prefer to go to a movie at a local theater, leaving Cassie and Matt at the home. At one point when Cassie and Matt were alone, the electricity was suddenly lost. However, it was restored before Matt was picked up by his mother. Unbeknownst to Cassie or Matt, Draper and Adamcik had returned to the house before Matt’s departure (roughly ‪10:30‬p.m). Having never gone to the theater, the two were lying in wait and later confessed to purposely shutting the power off. They then entered the house and stabbed Stoddart 29 times, 9 wounds were fatal.
It was revealed in the course of the investigation that Draper and Adamcik recorded their plan to murder Stoddart on video tape while they were at school.

Draper and Adamcik were arrested on September 27, 2006 and charged with first degree murder. During the interrogations, both teens blamed each other. During interrogation, Draper claimed he was in the same room with Adamcik when Stoddart was killed but denied stabbing her. He later admitted stabbing her allegedly under commands from Adamcik. He also led the investigators to Black Rock Canyon where the teens disposed of the clothing, masks, and knives they used for the murder. It was revealed that Brian was impressed by Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold who committed the Columbine High School massacre, and it was later revealed that Adamcik was inspired by the Scream horror film franchise.

If you guys wanna watch docs about this, there’s “your worst nightmare - when the lights go out” from the ID channel. And “American teens on death row” and “Lost for life”
They’re all really good!

Our Lord revealed to Marie Julie Jahenny about the devotion to the Wound of Our Lord’s Shoulder

“Oh! Consider how I suffered this Wound so deep and little known. I desire that the faithful come to rest their lips on My Wound, that the breath (sighs) of their hearts soften My Wound.” (March 29, 1878)

“The pain is incomprehensible in the hearts of My children!!! How this devotion pleases and console Me, how often have the prayers of these Wounds have risen to My Heart and have torn (open) the salvation of souls entrusted to Hell.” (May 17, 1878)

Our Lord revealed to Marie-Julie additional promises that would be granted to those who venerate His Wound of the Shoulder and spread the devotion:

1) “I will bless all the souls who propagate this devotion: I grant them abundant graces.” (March 29, 1878)

2) “O souls who love Me, who propagate this devotion, I take you under My protection, I keep you under the mantle of My affection.” (March 29, 1878)

3) “I will dispel the darkness that will come in their hearts.” (December 28, 1877)

4) “I will console them in their pains.” “I will come in the midst of their greatest afflictions, to enlighten, to comfort them.” (February 8, 1878) (December 28, 1877, February 8, and April 12, 1878)

5) “I will come to bless them in their undertakings.” (March 29, 1878)

6) “I will give them a tender love for the Cross. I will come to assist them at the time of death with this cross and I will introduce them into My Heavenly Kingdom.” (April, 12 1878)

7) “I will sweeten their agony.” (December 28, 1877) “I will come at the hour of death. I will console them in their passage.” (February 8, 1878) “Especially at the hour of death, I will come to give them a sweet moment of calm and tranquillity. I will tell them: ‘O good holy soul, who has spread this devotion that I had so much at heart that it be made known, come to receive the reward of your labours, the fruit of blessing.” (March 29, 1878)

8) “I will shelter them, I will assist them, I will console all the souls that seek to propagate this Sacred Wound. At the time of death, I will console the souls that have compensated Me by their devotion and compassion to the Wound so deep and painful. I will come to strengthen them in their final fears. I will come and prepare their passage: Thank you, you who have compensated Me for My Pains.” (May 17, 1878)

9) “See,” Jesus said, pointing to His Wound with extreme tenderness, “all My children who have recognized this Wound, who have venerated It, have prayed to It, will have on the Last Day a great and generous reward. I do not simply show it, I pronounce it. My Word is Divine.” (May 1878)

Patrick Purdy thought Asians where at the root of all his problems.

In January 17, 1989, he decided it was time for resolution. He left his flea bag motel wearing the customary army fatigues with “Death to the Great Satin” (a typo or perhaps a strange fixation with fancy evening wear) scribbled on his sleeve and headed for the Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, California.

In the next six minutes the the lethal drifter opened fire in the schoolyard with an AK-47 killing five youngsters of Southeast Asian descent and wounding 29 children and a teacher. Purdy, 24, ended the attack by turning his gun on himself.

Arson investigator Marty Galindo was at a nearby car wash when he got a radio call of a vehicle fire near Cleveland Elementary School. Purdy, in what detectives later said was a diversion attempt, had stuffed his station wagon with fireworks and set the car ablaze moments before he walked onto the campus and opened fire.

“I can still smell the gunpowder. That’s what I remember most – the gunpowder. There were bullet casings everywhere. And I remember walking by a little girl’s shoe, it couldn’t have been more than a few inches long, that was sitting there on the ground. There was flesh on it. It had to have been cut off. I walked around the corner of a building and saw all those kids down. It was surreal. This was supposed to be where kids are playing games, happy,” Galindo said.

When the smoke settled, Michael Jackson, the Peter Pan of auto-erotica, descended on the school to spread goodwill (and maybe something else) among the surviving kids. Four of the dead children were Cambodian, one was Vietnamese. Most were born in Thailand in refugee camps as their parents fled the genocidal regime of Cambodian ruler Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge.

lifedeathandeternity  asked:

What do you say in response to the claim that blaming Islam for terrorist attacks is like blaming Christianity for Westboro Baptist Church activity? (I've seen this a lot on my dash in the last day and I don't quite know how to respond to it...)

Before I give you a whole lot of facts and statistics about Islam, I’ll start out by saying that the Westboro Baptist Church is made up of only 40 or so people. But the real question is, what is the extent of their actions?

Pretty simple.

They run around with picket signs, protest, and do somewhat dick-ish things, like trying to crash a funeral.

But do they kill people? No. They’re a nuisance, but they do not actively harm anyone physically or try to take their lives.

Islam on the other hand…well,

The ideology is steeped in terroristic commands.

Martyrdom (particularly in the goal of killing infidels or those who do not believe in Islam) is encouraged. Here’s another link that lists down some more places in the Quran where killing nonbelievers is encouraged. And that’s what all the support for the suicide bombings over the last how many ever years come from.

So now to the statistics. In answer to the claim that “blaming Islam for terrorist attacks is like blaming Christianity for Westboro Baptist Church activity”:

Patrick Edward Purdy was an unemployed drifter that engaged in a series of criminal activities at a young age. At the age of 12, police caught Purdy with BB guns and subsequently confiscated them. When he was 15, Purdy was arrested for a court-order violation, and was arrested weeks later for underage drinking. As the years went by, Purdy was further incarcerated for offenses including prostitution, possession of marijuana, drug dealing, possession of an illegal weapon, theft, armed robbery, and vandalism.

In April of 1987, at the age of 22, Purdy and his half-brother Albert were both arrested for firing a semi-automatic pistol at trees in a national forest. Authorities had found Purdy holding a book about the white supremacist group “Aryan Nations.” During his interrogation, he had told the county sheriff that it was his “duty to help the suppressed and overthrow the suppressor.“ While behind bars, Purdy attempted suicide twice, once by trying to hang himself with strips torn off of his shirt and another time by trying to cut his wrists with his fingernails. A psychiatric evaluation that followed claimed that the man was mildly mentally retarded, and that he was a danger to both himself and others. Purdy began attending welding classes in the fall of 1987, and started complaining about the high amount of southeast Asian students at the college he was at.

On January 17, 1989, an anonymous caller tipped the Stockton, California police department off about a massacre that was going to occur at Cleveland Elementary School, the school that Purdy had attended from kindergarten to second grade. At noon, Purdy parked his vehicle behind the school after arming it with fireworks, and proceeded to set it on fire with a Molotov cocktail, causing it to explode. Purdy then moved to the school playground, where he fired 106 rounds with his semi-automatic assault rifle, killing 5 students, wounding 29 others, and wounding a teacher. Purdy then pulled the trigger on himself. The 5 victims and most of the wounded consisted of Cambodian and Vietnamese immigrants that had come to the US with their families as refugees. Purdy had carved the words “freedom,” “victory,” and “Hezbollah” on his weapon, and had also written “PLO” ( which stood for “Palestine Liberation Organization”), “Libya,” and “death to the great Satin” on his body armor. Police claimed that Purdy was a misanthrope with a strong hatred toward Asian immigrants, his rationale being that they stole the jobs of natively-raised Americans.

One of Purdy’s former co-workers had stated that “he was always miserable. I’ve never seen a guy that didn’t want to smile as much as he didn’t.” Purdy had also written the following in a notebook he had kept with him: “I’m so dumb, I’m dumber than a sixth-grader. My mother and father were dumb.”
