Well I’m back in Olympia and I’m sitting in the General Government Appropriations and Oversight Committee hearing HB 2821 concerning children’s safe products. Don’t be confused by the bill title, this bill has virtually nothing to do with children’s safe products and everything to do with limiting a person’s right to purchase a product that contains a certain flame retardant chemical. This is the only bill the Committee will hear today and is nearly identical to a bill that was considered earlier this session. The real question is why did the Democrat Majority decide to drop another bill that was virtually the same as one previously considered? Could it be an attempt to fool the public into believing we’re actually doing something during the Special Session? Folks, don’t be fooled. There’s nothing worthwhile actually happening in Olympia right now.
We were told we will be working Thursday, Friday and likely Saturday. The Special Session is required to end next Tuesday at midnight … it sure looks like we’re headed to a Second Special Session.
