Looking at Mohaymen’s pedigree got me thinking about his dam, Justwhistledixie and what a good producer she’s become.

Dixie was unlucky to be born in the same year as Rachel Alexandra - but she was still a solid, classy competitor. Her career was highlighted by wins in the G2 Bonnie Miss Stakes (now the Gulfstream Park Oaks), the G2 Davona Dale and she was a very close runner up in the G1 Acorn Stakes.

In retirement, she’s produced 3 named foals:

2011 - New Year’s Day colt by Street Cry (IRE) | (3) 2-0-1 $1,154,000
His career was short, but impressive. He broke his maiden over future graded stakes winners Bond Holder & Candy Boy then won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.

2012 - Winslow gelding by Distorted Humor | (5) 1-0-1 £6,282
He’s run exclusively in Europe, sticking to the lower levels. I wonder what he might have done if he ever got to run on dirt?

2013 - Mohaymen colt by Tapit | (4) 4-0-0 $559,830
Undefeated winner of 3 straight G2 races, he’s the early favorite for the Kentucky Derby

Justwhistledixie is a young mare and I can’t wait to see what her future babies will be able to do!
