(I wrote this maybe a year ago and it’s been sitting in my notes, collecting dust, so I figured I may as well post it. Feedback is greatly appreciated. TBH my New Years Resolution is to get better at writing so constructive criticism would be fantastic. I’m a hard-core Hayes girl and I have maybe 100+ imagines I’ve written and unpublished fanfiction so like for more! Happy New Year! :)
“Hey!” Janie, Nash’s fiancé gushed as she opened the front door.
I hugged her before stepping into the waving at the loiters in the hall before walking into the family room.
“Hey, dude!” Johnson exclaimed as they did their ‘bro’ handshake.
“What’s been up?” Hayes asked, sitting on the couch next to this brother.
I said hello to a few faces before making my way to the kitchen.
“Hadley!” Jessica, Cameron wife called, waving me over to them.
“Where’s my baby?” I asked, referring to her two year old son, Mitchell.
“I think he’s out back with a few of the guys.” She guessed, pointing to the sliding door.
“I’m going to kidnap him.” I joked, walking out the open door.
“Had!” He yelled, looking up from the pool.
“Hi, baby boy!” I cooed as he ran up to me.
I grabbed a towel off the pool chair catching him with it. He giggled as I rubbed him with the cloth, drying him.
I wrapped him in the towel, setting him on my hip, walking back into the house.
“That was fast.” Jess laughed, smiling at her son.
Mitchell set his head on my shoulder, hugging my neck.
“So how are you two feeling after what happened with Emmi?” Mahogany asked, leaning against the counter, sipping her wine.
“I mean it sucked because I thought we were finally getting somewhere, but the doctors said there was something off with her chromosomes and she wouldn’t live past her first birthday.” I informed, happy with myself that I wasn’t crying, “But I’m occupying myself with babysitting.”
“Speaking of babysitting, how about tomorrow?” Hanna, Johnson’s girlfriend asked me.
“Definitely.” I responded, snuggling the two years old further into my side.
She smiled at me before announcing dinner was ready.
“I’ll tell the boys.” I volunteered, setting Mitch down.
I walked into the main room where the boys were talking about some game last night. I announced dinner, earning a gentle roar of excitement as everyone stood up to migrate toward the kitchen.
“Hads, come here.” Hayes said, grabbing my hand, leading me into the hallway.
“Yeah?” I questioned when the last person excited the narrow area.
“I think we should tell them.” He informed, putting his hands on my stomach.
“One more week then I’ll be at four months then I’ll let you tell them.” I compromised.
He sighed, nodding, “This baby will be the one.”
I nodded, wrapping my arms around the back of his neck, hugging him.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.” I responded.
We broke apart, walking back into the living room.
“Had, can you sit next to me?” Mitch asked, cocking his head to the side.
“Of course, baby boy.” I laughed, sitting in the chair I always sat in next to his booster seat.
Hayes sat next to me after a few minutes, setting my plate in front of me.
“So, how are you guys doing?” Nash asked, referring to Hadley and I.
“Really good, actually. She’s learning to cope, and I guess I am as well.”
He nodded, “Are you guys planning on having more children?”
I nodded, “Definitely. We’ve decided to try for one more then if that doesn’t work we’re going to adopt.”
“She wants to be a mom so bad.” Johnson said, looking at Hads.
“It’ll happen whether she carries it or not.” I grinned.
They nodded, breaking into smaller conversations.
I turned my attention to what Janie and Had we’re talking about.
“We were thinking about buying a large property with a ton of land.” Had said.
“Hey, don’t put words into my mouth.” I joked.
“Had, can you cut this for me?” Anne asked from across the table.
I looked at Johnson and Hanna, basically asking for permission.
She laughed, “Go for it.”
I stood up, grabbing a butter knife, cutting small shapes out of her fruit.
“Look, momma, it’s a star!” She exclaimed, holding the small bit of apple up at her mom.
“You’re so good with kids.” Hanna said, practically amazed.
I laughed, sitting back down.
Hayes put his hands on my knee, rubbing it.
“We should tell them.” He whispered.
“No, wait for four months.” I replied.
“Tell us what?” Cam asked, raising an eyebrow.
He gave me puppy dog eyes, but I shook my head.
“Nothing.” Hayes huffed, slumping back in his chair, sticking out his bottom lip.
“Are you pouting right now?” I laughed.
“Please?” He begged.
“Tell us!” Gilinsky yelled, gaining the attention of everyone at the table.
“We don’t have anything to say!” I lied, laughing.
*Hayes* After Dinner
“She’s pregnant isn’t she?” Nash asked, causing me to look up.
I nodded. “But she’s worried she going to miscarry this one again, so she won’t tell anyone.” I sighed, sipping my beer.
“It’s crazy how the people who deserve it most don’t get it.”
He looked at me, raising an eyebrow, “Since when do you drink?”
I laughed, “Dude, I drink all the time.”
“No, you don’t.”
“Yes, I do!”
He laughed, “Whatever.”
“Game time!” Matt cheered, sitting next to me. “Since when do you drink?”
“That’s what I said!” Nash exclaimed, causing me to roll my eyes, and take another swig from my beer.
