‘This is the grown-up Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley who will appear in next year’s highly anticipated stage play.

Harry will be played by 36-year-old Jamie Parker, an original member of Alan Bennett’s History Boys cast at the National Theatre, while Paul Thornley has been cast as Ron Weasley. Hermione is played by Noma Dumezweni, 45, who was born in Swaziland to South African parents fleeing apartheid.

They will star in Harry Potter And The Cursed Child which, although it does not begin performances at London’s Palace Theatre until late May, has already sold more than a quarter of a million tickets. Some 175,000 seats were sold in just 24 hours, a West End record.’ (x)

Hurrah for Hermione being cast as a POC!!!

On Breaking The 24 Hour Views Record...

The 24 hour Vevo views record has become a pretty big deal these days and we couldn’t be more proud, but there seems to be a bit of confusion about how it all works.  Because of this, we felt it was important to clear up some details about how the record is determined.

  1. We calculate the total views over a 24 hour period from across our entire platform including our syndication partners.  This includes all Vevo apps plus syndication channels, Yahoo!, YouTube and many more.  These reports usually come in over the course of a 2 day period.
  2. Once all the reports are in, we take the total view count from the exact time the video premieres to exactly 24 hours later.  That is the 24 hour number.

Some frequently asked questions:

  • Q: The numbers on YouTube and Vevo added up to much more than what you guys are reporting.  What gives?
  • A: The view counts you see on Vevo.com and the Vevo apps are inclusive of YouTube view counts.  They are not separate numbers, but because we have to pull counts from so many different sources, the views on Vevo.com and YouTube aren’t always in sync.
  • Q: The views aren’t being counted on YouTube! Can you fix it?
  • A: If you see the views stuck at 301+ or something similar on YouTube, it’s because there are A LOT of people watching the video. WATCH THIS: http://goo.gl/mkX7uz (No, seriously. Watch it.)
  • Q: Why are some videos declared record breakers before 24 hours are up and others take 2 days?
  • A: The reports from our various partners come in over the course of a 2 day period.  YouTube always makes sure views from robots, spiders and other automated view count gaming tools are removed from their final counts.  Only views from human beings are counted.  YouTube can analyze views that come from humans much quicker than it can from tools designed to trick their player.  In the case of huge videos that get viewed worldwide, like “Wrecking Ball,” virality comes into play.  From the amount of press and social shares alone, it was clear that everyone and their mother was watching that video.  Literally.  The number of views had far exceeded the standing record before day’s end, so we were able to verify the count.
  • Q: Does it count as a view if I hit replay, or do I have to refresh the page?
  • A: Either works, just don’t use automated tools or open the video in 50 different browser tabs.  YouTube is pretty good at detecting when someone isn’t actually watching the video.  Our best advice is to share, share, share and think outside your fan base.  The videos that really rack up views are the ones that span fan bases.
  • Q: Why do you take away views?
  • A: We don’t take away views.  YouTube will verify that views are not coming from robots, spiders and other automated tools.  That’s why sometimes you see a view count fluctuate a bit.

Calvin Harris Adorably Supports Taylor Swift On Twitter And It’s Beautiful

It seems like we can all agree by now that Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris are maybe, probably, definitely a couple.

A HELLA cute couple.

They’ve been spotted all over the country looking adorable in matching outfits, supporting each other at award shows, and cheering each other on at their concerts.

But the cutest part of their relationship is definitely how damn proud Calvin Harris is to be dating Taylor Swift — which, duh.

He’s a smart man.

Let’s examine the evidence.

He favorited this tweet celebrating her trillions of Billboard Award nominations:

Faved these beautiful words Mariska Hargitay wrote about Swift:

Was psyched for her when she broke the damn VEVO 24 hour record and favorited this tweet:

Was hella proud when Forbes named her the youngest woman on their Power Women list and faved this:

And basically recognized how damn lucky he was to be dating the current queen of the universe by faving this adorable tweet:

And obviously Swift returned the Twitter love by favoriting this proud tweet about his Billboard win:

And even faving this tweet acknowledging that their love is REAL:

IT’S ALL JUST TOO MUCH.

♬ It’s a Twitter love story, baby, just say yes. ♬

Taylor Swift is no stranger to breaking records, whether it’s for the most amount of albums sold in a week or for setting the Vevo 24 hour record even higher, or for having the fly-est squad in existence. Okay, we made up that last one, but you get the point.

The results are in. Rihanna’s “Where Have You Been” now owns VEVO’s title for the most viewed video in a 24-hour period. As superfans may recall, Nicki Minaj captured the position back in January when her great Hype Williams clip for “Stupid Hoe” clocked 4.8 million in a mere one-day stretch.
