This unusual empty road is the A82. Running from Glasgow to Inverness by way of Fort William, it is a vital link through the Scottish Highlands. Popular due to its scenery, the road passes close to some of the most notable landmarks in the Highlands. This view looks to the west, on the approach to Glen Coe. The road is currently passing though Rannoch Moor, a vast expanse of around 50 square miles of boggy moorland. Heavy snowfalls are common here and as a result, snow poles line this section of the route. The popular mountain peak Buachaille Etive Mor towers in the background. Nearly 5 miles in length and 1022m at its highest point, the mountain marks the point where the road leaves the moor behind, and the never ending valleys of the highlands begin.
