221bcon

Well, I haven’t mentioned it here yet, though I’ve told a few people in private and have hinted a bit:

Unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to go to 221b Con this year. I had to choose between 221b and going to New York to see The Crucible, and since the dates for The Crucible overlap with my birthday and it would give me a convenient excuse to go bother Owls, I opted for NYC/Philly instead of Atlanta.

I’ll miss everyone at 221b and I’m sure I’ll be around tumblr crying about my decision, but I’m also excited to see two new cities I haven’t had much chance to visit before. If anyone has can’t miss suggestions for either of those places for mid-/late May, let me know!

A Tribute to br0-Harry

As many of you may know, our beloved friend and fandom artist by the name of br0-Harry passed away late last year. Br0-Harry was such an inspiration for a lot of us in the Sherlock fandom from the very beginning, blessing us with his talent of art and sharing it and the world. His wife, Verity Burns, a beautifully talented writer in the fandom, recently wrote and posted about Harry’s passing, telling their story of how they fell in love through the Sherlock fandom, which can be read here: [link]

The Three Patch Podcast @threepatchpodcast and I wanted to show our support for all Harry has done for us, from bringing us together as a family to giving us happiness on our cloudy days, so we asked Verity if there were any charities we could donate to in memory of Harry. She decided on Macmillan Cancer Support, since they did so, so much for the both of them.

The Three Patch Podcast has set up a page on JustGiving for anyone to donate. Donations through JustGiving go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support: [link]

As well as charity, I’ve decided to compile a scrapbook in memory of Harry, filled with your art, your stories, your photos, etc. to send directly to Verity. I’ll be accepting submissions physically for the scrapbook at my table at 221B Con. If you can’t attend 221BCon and wish to contribute to the project, you can send it to me at:

Br0-Harry brought a lot of love into our hearts, as well as into the Sherlock fandom. Harry has gifted us with his talent and inspired us in so many different ways, and we want to give back. He will always be remembered by all of us, one way or another, in this family of a fandom.

It took a year of planning (and an SUV to haul a fireplace), but we finally got to invite everyone into the Three Patch Podcast Con Suite at 221B Con!  It made us so happy when people enjoyed dixiebell’s fireplace.Arwel Wyn Jones even complimented it!  Thank you to everyone who came to hang out and squee with us during this amazing con.  We already have ideas for the Three Patch Podcast Con Suite 2015!

221B Con Gothic

You’re in the bar. You’ve been in the bar for days. You don’t remember ever not having been in the bar. The person next to you asks, “Are you going to any panels?” You reply, “There are panels?”

You see Captain America. You see Rule 63 Captain America. You see Hipster Trash Captain America. You see Dudebro Captain America. This is a Sherlock Holmes convention.

There are signs on the doors. They are tempting, offering untold treasures if only one enters. The people inside? They’re just like you. It’s alright, just turn the handle and walk in. No matter who you are, there is a sign on the door that will tempt you.

“Come to our onesie party!” they say. “It’s okay if you don’t have a onesie, you’re still invited!” You go to the party. You wake up in a onesie. How did this happen.

Once every minute or so, you can’t help but feel like you’re being scrutinized. Judged. There is some extension of you that is being carefully analyzed just beyond your reach. This is because you’ve been playing Cards Against Humanity for seven hours straight.

Who the fuck is Benedict Cumberbatch, many seem to wonder.

You’ve been to Atlanta three times. You have receipts, boarding passes, bank statements that prove this. But you’ve never actually seen Atlanta.

As you approach the water in the evening, you can hear it: AAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

The Fourth Wall

Our group costume for the contest depicts a well known wall in 221B Baker street, the one that had it coming - The fourth wall. The back panels included fanart, notes, and graffiti by attendees at 221B Con who visited the Three Patch Con Suite, and our crime scene wall featured mug shots of fellow Sherlock fans who sent us their photos.
