MADE is a perfect example of how great of a writer and director Jon Favreau is. I loved Swingers, but think I actually like Made better. The characters are great, and as usual Vince Vaughn and Favreau have great chemistry on screen.
Nicolas Winding Refn’s DRIVE is my favorite film of 2012. This is NOT an action movie, but there are intense moments of violence. Gosling’s performance is so understated, with no middle ground. He is either calm and calculated or is going 90 miles and hour. Watch this movie, and better yet all of Refn’s past films.
HUGO - Movie #59 of 2012. I finally watched this on Blu-ray. I can see that this would have been a great movie to see in 3D, but it was not playing near me. If you are like me, and waited to see this film it is now available on Blu-ray via Redbox. Asa Butterfield and Chloe Moretz put in wonderful performances. Butterfield will be playing Ender in the upcoming Ender’s Game adaptation.
THIRST - #TallyTeer 43 of 2012. Old Boy is one of my favorite films, and I was looking forward to seeing Park Chan-Wook’s followup. A mix of horror and love story, this has some great characters and cool camera work. You can check this out now Instant Netflix,
E.T. is a movie I can watch over and over again. I credit this as of the films that impacted my love of movies, especially sci-fi films. John Williams’ score is simply fantastic. After watching Super 8, there are so many similar elements.
