Here is my 200 follower special selfie!
I am Hunter Swanson. My horn is an RS Berkeley BAR906 Artist Series Euphonium, and she is named Lenore. I just spent two years studying music performance at the Berklee College of Music in Boston under Jon Faieta, and in the fall I will transfer to the University of Arizona to study with Kelly Thomas. I am currently working mostly on excerpts from Percy Grainger's Molly on the Shore (Irish Reel), Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posey and Sullivan's Suite from the Ballet “Pineapple Poll.” I am also working on David Gillingham’s Fantasy for Solo Euphonium and have just started work on Rolf Wilhelm’s Concertino for Euphonium. In a perfect world, I would end up with the job Steven Mead has, touring the world as a euphonium soloist and clinician. I would also very much like to be part of a successful chamber group.
Musical fun fact: The euphonium and its ancestors have had a great many different valve arrangements, some of the early instruments had up to eight valves to compensate for the intonation problems in the three valved system.
