These are the ZX Spectrum works from this year’s Chaos Construction demoscene party that took place last weekend in St. Petersburg.

The images above are ordered from first to last place as voted at the party (7th place that is not in the chart is Drinker by Dimidrol).

Dmitri ‘Moroz1999′ Ponomarjov cleaned the place with the best entry in the main graphics category (new works prepared earlier for the competition) as well as in realtime graphics, which is a 2.5h competition that happens at the event (the prompt was ‘city of the future’).

There were much fewer entries in realtime than last year (I slept through it after working all night on the main entry lol), but all in all we got some great new works added to the Spectrum scene.

bunnybandito  asked:

How long have you been studying Japanese for? Do you have any advice to give? What do you use to learn it? I haven't gotten far enough to do my notes completely in Japanese yet...

This will be my 6th year of study (2.5h of language class/week x 6)… which brings me to my general advice of accepting that fluency takes time. There’ll be ups and downs so take them in stride and persevere!

Now for more practical tips:

1. This super comprehensive guide to learning Japanese

2. Consume Japanese content related to your interests. I do the following:

  • follow Twitters of artistes/creators whom I like
  • watch Japanese YouTubers (gaming, cooking)

※ If you like to watch anime, try to watch it without subtitles at least for the first time. Trust me, it’s painful at first but it helps (unsubbed anime here).

3. Try chatting with native speakers (voice call/text messaging) to put yourself in a situation where you need to think of how to express yourself in Japanese. It’s daunting at first but it helps to build confidence and the sense of achievement is AMAZING (try this website).

4. Find fellow Japanese learners (super important). You’ll be able to encourage each other, share tips/resources/experiences. I’m not sure if there’s an actual Japanese learning community here but I GOT YA BRO (let’s chat about learning Japanese and stuff).

I hope this helped you even a little bit. If you need more specific advice on how to improve vocabulary/grammar etc., just drop me another ask/message, I’d be super happy to reply.

i gave our barbarian 200xp for paying the 50gp needed to buy supplies for the rogue that everyone else in the party tried to haggle down to 30gp

the group insisted that they were starving and really needed a deal because they didn’t have any cash due to the fact that they bought a new fancy outfit and a bear. they actually said that.

other highlights from our 2.5h session that didn’t end up actually including any combat:

  • our lawful neutral paladin making a point of giving back exact change but insisting that his two intimidation rolls to get something for free during haggling was within alignment because the store was asking for 15gp instead of 10gp for a lance and that was daylight robbery
  • nobody keeping notes
  • everybody making fun of my spontaneous naming abilities
  • our barbarian adopting a baby bear he saved from a fire after paying its owner 800gp and naming her droga
  • our bard potentially getting kidnapped cause our rogue was on watch and our rogue is useless
  • our barbarian eating his third full meal in two hours while our paladin looked at him weirdly
  • our barbarian buying 10 pounds of dried fish and 10 pounds of biscuits for a sea journey of one day (he already had 8 rations)
  • our bard trying to suss out if the guy day-drinking at the inn was their contact. he wasn’t, but he was very flattered by the attention
  • our paladin and everybody’s fave hot gay npc conversing and touching the pommels of their weapons very heterosexually
  • our barbarian glaring daggers at everybody’s fave hot gay npc’s husband cause he has a crush on efhgn
  • our barbarian insisting his bear sign a contract > the bear’s claw tearing the paper just enough to mess up our bard’s hancockian signature
  • efhgn strolling into town with his husband, riding their owlbears
  • my brother (the dragonborn paladin) wanting to play past 1am and then asking when the next session is going to be even though he was only supposed to play as a guest star and nothing even happened i’m so goddamned pleased he wants to continue

His Touch - Chapter 7

So it’s almost 4am. I have to get up in 2.5h, but I wanted to get this to you guys. It’s written on my phone.

This chapter I had to take a lot of liberties. We don’t know how it happen, but this is my take on it.

I hope you like it. I’m grateful for all feedback.

His Touch - Chapter 7

She yawned.

“Conversation not interesting enough for you babe?”

She laughed.

“Just kidding. I’ll let you go so you can hopefully get some sleep”

“No, not yet” She bursted out.

“Okay”

“I just like listening to your voice”

“And I to yours”

“Could you maybe, only if you know one, and have the time, and don’t mind…”

Thank you for the old

In Norwegian, in the hours before midnight on New Years Ever, we don’t wish each other Happy New Year, as the new year is not yet here. What we do say, is thank you for the old.

So I’m taking this opportunity, about 2.5h left of the old year, to say thank you.

Thank you for the old. Thank you for the fun, the drama, the laughs, the love, the squeals, the tears, the smiles, the words, the pictures, the everything.

Thank you!
