Dear One Direction,

it’s been 5 years since this day … 5 years since Simon Cowell didn’t give up on Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne. He had faith that they would succeed and my god have they succeeded.

When they didn’t win the XFACTOR Zayn said this:

And it wasn’t the last of One Direction. Over the 5 years of being put together as a band on the XFACTOR, releasing their first album and having What Makes You Beautiful sky rocket to number one in the charts, going on the Up All Night Tour, than Take Me Home and TMH Tour, than Midnight Memories and WWA tour and than FOUR and now OTRA tour.

Throughout the 5 years they have won numerous awards, Brit Awards, VMAs, Aria’s, American Music Awards, etc. They are THE band at the moment and have been for the past 5 years. Harry was just a baker, Niall was just a little boy from Ireland wanting to sell out arena’s, Zayn almost didn’t even get out of bed, Liam was trying for the second time and Louis was just hoping to go somewhere. Now they are 22-23 year old boys who have taken over the world and changed millions of fans lives

They’ve sold out arenas and now 80,000+ stadiums, they took on America and rocked it. Their albums have gone platinum all over the world and they have numerous number ones. They’ve changed the way the world views boy bands. They write most of their own music, they don’t use auto tune, and they don’t lip sync. They are REAL.

Through their personal breakups and losing a band member they are still here. 5 years later. Stronger than ever and ready to take on the world with their 5th album. I think they deserve a round of applause, a pat on the back for sticking together through the hardest times. We (as fans) thank you and we will support you for as many years as they want to stay together.

Thank you. Honestly thank you for changing our lives.
