“One acrobatic somersault, one quick midair extraction of a sword from the umbrella’s handle, and four slashes/thrusts of her blade later, and the men have been cut down in a blood-spurting floral pattern splayed out like a Payback Bouquet in the snow. “Who the hell are you?” asks the dying crime boss. But we already sense the answer from Meiko Kaji’s commanding presence, a glare that communicates how much evil she has seen and how much more she is willing to do… .
Is it any wonder that Quentin Tarantino loved the poker-faced delirium of this film so much?”
LP⬇Larry Clifton Perkins
Perkins, inspired by his countryman Tim Schenken, came to Europe. His references were successes in the Australian Formula Vau, Formula Ford & Formula 3 series.
In Europe he became 5th in 1972 at the Formula-Ford-Festival & changed into the European F3 Championship 1973. In 1974, he was involved in Chris Amon’s Formula One project. The Amon Racing team gave him a factory car for the GP of Germany at the Nürburgring. But Perkins was bruised in the training & the massively damaged Amon AF101 could not be repaired for the race. However, Perkins was so slow in the training that a qualification would have been excluded.
In 1975, Perkins returned to European F3 & became the champion of a rally. In 1976, he was still a Formula One contest, when he signed with Boro, and gave his debut in Spain in the highest monoposto series. After 6 races with the subdued Boro racing car, the opportunity to take a real step in the series came when he replaced Carlos Reutemann, who had moved to Ferrari at Brabham. But Perkins could not take advantage of the opportunity & found himself in the B.R.M. team of Louis Stanley. With the BRM P207 he had no way to show his talent & left the team after 2 races.
After a last unsuccessful attempt at Surtees, Perkins returned to Australia and won the overall victory in the domestic Formula 5000 championship in 1979.
During 1982/83 he worked with his brother on the construction of “The Quiet Achiever” solar car.
At the end of his career, he founded a touring car team, which continues to compete with Holden vehicles. Perkins acts as a team chef. The 6 time winner of the Bathurst 1000 is well known for his outgoing and humorous personality. And he was inducted into the V8 Supercars Hall of Fame in 2008. His nickname is “LP”, but he is often referred to as “Lightning Larry” or “Larrikin Larry”.
His father Eddie, his brother Garry & his son Jack are race drivers too.
If youre unfamiliar with the term “Peronism” it basically can refer to either 1) the policies and plans of Juan Domingo Peron who was President of Argentina from 1946-1955 and again from 1973-1974 or 2) the cult of personality set up around Peron and his wife Evita Peron or 3) a term used to describe a system of government which manages to directly appeal to both far-right and far-left elements of the society at the same time and in a way that appears paradoxical to many people which has often been said to have been a feature of Peron.
Like remember when Trump was like “it was a mistake to ever go into Iraq but since we did we shouldve hauled off the oil”? Thats basically him trying to sound appealing to anyone thats not “center” like Trump’s hope with a statement like that is that it’d be a kind of optical illusion. Basically people on the left would only hear the first part where he sounds like he’s saying “Bush & Co fucked up and mislead the nation into invading Iraq and leading us into a quagmire” and disregard the rest and people on the far-right would only hear the last part where it sounds like a jingoistic nationalist spiel about how “War gives the right of the conquerors to impose any conditions they please upon the vanquished”
Agnetha wears her costume from her 1970 summer tour with Bert-Åke Varg.
Originally, there was just a heart cut out, but now it is given added trim
and sparkle. The costume is later worn again in 1974 for the performance
on Top Of The Pops
