Jackie Robinson steals home plate against Yogi Berra during Game 1 of the 1955 World Series on Sept. 28, 1955. The Brooklyn Dodgers lost the game 6-5, but went on to beat the New York Yankees 4-3 in the series. Robinson broke the color barrier in the major leagues on April 15, 1947. Every April 15th since 2004 has been declared “Jackie Robinson Day,” during which all players, coaches, managers and umpires wear #42 on their jerseys. (Mark Kauffman/SI)
