Atomic Sunburst Vintage Gold Tone Brooch Dark and Light Purple Faceted Stones - Sunburst Vintage Brooch 1950s
Atomic Sunburst Vintage Gold Tone Brooch Dark and Light Purple Faceted Stones - Sunburst Vintage Brooch 1950s. A striking atomic gold tone sunburst brooch with a large prong set dark purple center rhinestone that’s surrounded with a “spray” of small dark and light purple rhinestones. This brooch has quality jewelry construction, but no maker’s mark. The brooch or pin probably dates from the late 1950s – early 1960s and it’s in excellent condition. This piece measures just over 2.25 inches across. All the stones are prong set. This beautiful brooch is a great example of atomic jewelry design and it really sparkles! It’s well balanced, lightweight, and easy to wear – it could be worn for day or evening. The brooch would make a great gift for someone special, too. Between the 1940s and ’60s, major Cold War concerns kept all parties on every side concerned. This was a period also known as the Atomic Age due to the development of the atom bomb. Images of the Atomic Age influenced the designs of many different products during this period: abstract organic forms and geometric “atomic” designs were being produced for all sorts of things from home decor to china and jewelry for example. In jewelry, this “look” became very popular and was instantly recognizable everywhere. Visit my Etsy shops at DianaKirkpatrickArt.etsy.com and PearlandGemJewelry.etsy.com
