Minneapolis Diamond Jubilee

On February 5, 1928, a Diamond Jubilee Ball was held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the naming of the city of Minneapolis in 1853. Mary Ellen Selden was crowned the winter princess, and Mayor George E. Leach lit the first candle on the enormous birthday cake. An elegant crowd celebrated with dancing.

The Minnesota Territorial Legislature recognized Minneapolis as a town in 1856 and it was incorporated as a city in 1867. Happy birthday, Minneapolis!

Why Era-Themed Parties Can Be Awkward for People of Color

Even with the best of intentions, era-themed parties patronized predominately by white people can be awkward and exclusive for guest of color. This is especially true if the chosen era takes place during a time of blatant racial oppression.

Since Gatsby/ 1920s is still a popular party theme, I decided to do a more authentic tutorial for those of you who want to know the actual trends of the 20s rather than how to do another black smoky eye. Use the tips and change the details for your perfect look!

“The Violence of action will be HIGH. I am the reason 420 alert was established. I will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in marijuana themed clothing whether baked or sober. ISR is my strength and your weakness. You will now live the life of the prey. Your hangouts and homes away from work will be my AO and battle space. I will utilize every tool within INT collections that I learned from NMITC in Dam Neck. You have misjudged a sleeping giant. There is no conventional threat assessment for me. JAM, New Ba'ath party, 1920 rev BGE, ACM, AAF, AQAP, AQIM and AQIZ have nothing on me. Do not deploy bongs or joints. SA-7 Manpads will be waiting. As you know I also own Barrett .50’s so your hotboxes are defunct and futile. “
