The 2016 Chevrolet SS is Designed for Performance

Building on the performance-oriented updates made to the Chevrolet SS last year, the 2016 model features several exterior enhancements that reinforce its presence on the road.

A revised front fascia features new, vertical ducts at the outer edges to direct airflow over the front wheel openings to improve aerodynamic efficiency. The fascia also incorporates new LED signature lighting, while new, functional hood vents and new-design 19-inch cast-aluminum wheels contribute to a stronger appearance for the rear-drive sports sedan.

What hasn’t changed is the SS’s unique blend of performance, comfort and spaciousness. It features a 6.2L V-8 engine under the hood and turns out an SAE-certified 415 horsepower (310 kW) and 415 lb-ft of torque (563 Nm), and offers a six-speed manual transmission or a paddle-shift six-speed automatic transmission.

A new dual-mode exhaust system for 2016 complements the V-8 engine with quieter performance at low engine speeds and a more muscular engine note at wide-open throttle.

ok so i was going through my sherlock chronicles book (definitely worth it omffffg SO MANY GAY PHOTOS OF THEM) and there are a lot of deleted scenes too, including one about reichenbach.... basically at the end when sherlock is getting pushed away on a stretcher the squash ball accidentally falls from his sleeve and bounces over to john. i am glad they did not actually do that. because i would not have been able to cope. literally they label the frame descriptions with 'john looking sad'. *sobs*

Hi Nonny!! I just RECENTLY acquired the Sherlock Chronicles, so I haven’t had a chance to read it over to cover yet (though I am DYING at what I have perused). Here’s the section you’re referencing, so we can all die together. Sorry for the pic quality; my scanner doesn’t work with my new computer so I had to photograph it.

This is Page 206, for anyone who wants to see it nicer. Here’s a closeup of the panels:

(16) John’s POV - Someone Checking for a Pulse

Alrighty, a few things:

  1. This was awful why did you make me do this.
  2. I am laughing that Sherlock is now Ben.
  3. DID THEY NEED TO REITERATE TWICE THAT JOHN IS JUST REALLY DAMNED SAD. THANK YOU, STORYBOARD ARTISTS. YOU ARE THE TRUE DEVILS OF THIS SERIES.
  4. I think this is from the early scenes of TEH. The numbers on the storyboards represent where it is in the episode. I think the lettered ones are from the “other solutions”.
  5. In (A), it’s interesting to me that it’s “girl” and not “Molly”. I wonder if Molly was just an afterthought. OR was this planned as far back as S1??? *shrugs*
  6. I like that they actually seriously considered filming the jump into the lorry. Idea from fan theories? Hee hee.
  7. #Art Goals. God I love this style.
  8. WHY DID YOU MAKE ME LOOK AT THIS.
  9. NO SERIOUSLY YOU MONSTER.

And same re: the scene playing out as above. I like the idea that John still always holds onto hope even WITHOUT proof. Just blind faith that Sherlock WILL always come back to him.

Too bad Mary drags that hope right out of him.

Customers can place their orders beginning in early September, 2016.

Aston Martin Vulcan

Keep your eyes on the screen, for what you see is Aston Martins beautiful Vulcan. We can already tell you are imagining how amazing this sounds snarling through downshifts and spitting flames out the rear end. Aston has said that the powerhouse will be their V12 lump, bt instead of the normal puny 5.9 –litres it will be bored out to 7.0-litres although there have been no official figures from Aston yet we can assume the power will be 800+

The chassis of the hypercar will consist of a carbon fibre monocoque which will be wrapped in a complete carbon fibre body which will be assembles by Aston Martins motorsport partner Multimatic, which is the same Multimatic that is going to be part of building the new Ford GT.

The car will be an FIA approved track only vehicle so it will have complete pushrod suspension with fully adjustable dampening and anti-roll bar systems. It will also be equipped with a six speed sequential transmission, with carbon ceramic discs paired with Brembo calipers, and adjustable traction control. All that power and track trickery will be laid down via the 19” wheels which at the rear will be 345 Michelins!!!

Here’s the downside to the Vulcan, as I’m sure you have guessed they are only producing a limited number of them, 24 to be precise. If you’re in the market for one, we suggest getting on to Aston right now because we sure they won’t be around for long. Once your name is down, you can also sign up for the new racing development program that Aston are putting together for the owners. In the racing program two times GT1 champion Darren Turner will “support owners on their learning journey” as they are coached at different tracks around the world. They will be built up not only on track in provided V12 vantages and One-77’s but also in the classroom so that when in the seat of their new Vulcan they will be able to get the most out of it possible.

Hopefully for the more real world people like us, the Vulcan should provide clues as to what we will see in future Aston Martins and what I hope a teaser as to an Aston Martin hybrid that could sit amongst the ranks of the McLaren P1, La Ferrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder. Wouldn’t that be a treat! More details should be available when the car is officially unveiled at Geneva next week.

The Renault Clio R.S.16 Concept

Renault Sport have unveiled a new concept car on the streets of Monaco’s famous Grand Prix circuit today driven by Renault Sport Formula One Team’s Kevin Magnussen.  The Clio R.S.16 is the highest performance Renault Sport road-going vehicle ever and its reveal in 2016 celebrates both 40 years of Renault Sport and Renault’s return to Formula One as a constructor.

The design and development team dealt successfully with the constraints inherent in the Clio R.S. 16 project (body widened by 60mm, 19-inch wheels and optimization of the engine cooling system) to produce an expressive, sporty stance. The result is enhanced by an LED R.S. Vision checkered-pattern lighting signature featuring exclusive multi-faceted reflector technology.

Renault Sport’s trademark Liquid Yellow has been combined with gloss black details to mirror the livery of Renault Sport Formula One Team’s R.S.16 F1.

After today’s first public airing in the streets of Monaco, the car’s next official appearance will be the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 23-26, 2016.

World Premiere of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S

The new Golf GTI Clubsport S is the most powerful GTI ever and had smashed a Nürburgring lap record. This exclusive new sports car, based on the Golf GTI Clubsport, has been developed to celebrate the GTI’s 40th anniversary.

Ten key facts – the Golf GTI Clubsport S

  1. The most powerful Golf GTI ever breaks the lap record for front-wheel-drive production cars on the Nürburgring, with a time of 07:49:21.
  2. Only 400 of the limited edition Golf GTI Clubsport S, which delivers 228 kW/310 PS and can go from 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, will be made.
  3. Uniquely, the Golf GTI Clubsport S has a Nürburgring setting, which can be accessed using the driving profile selector.
  4. The Nürburgring setting finetunes the adaptive chassis control DCC, engine, steering and sound to suit the Nordschleife.
  5. The chassis of the Golf GTI Clubsport S was fine-tuned in extensive racetrack tests and completely reconfigured.
  6. With the  weight reduced to 1,285 kg, the 310 PS results in a sports car power-to-weight ratio of 4.15 kg/PS.
  7. New exhaust system sees tail pipes with an enlarged cross-section produce strong backfire when braking.
  8. The Golf GTI Clubsport S is a two-door, two-seat car, with the rear seats removed to save weight.
  9. The GTI Clubsport S comes with 19-inch alloy wheels and semi-slicks.
  10. The production number 001/400 to 400/400 in the interior reveals that the car is an exclusive special edition.

Since it’s launch the SLS AMG has been my favourite car. I knew from the moment I saw it that it would be. I remember the day, it was on a September in 2009. The SLS was unveiled at that year’s Frankfurt motor show. I remember as I had an exam that day but rather than get some last minute revision in, I spent the morning on the Internet drooling over photos of Mercedes’ new Gullwing supercar.

Today it’s more or less the same, minus the Gullwing part. Everyone, meet the new Mercedes-AMG GT. The name is important in itself as you’ll note there isn’t a “Benz”. That’s because this is the second car made entirely by AMG and they want to show it.

Powering this new sports car is an equally new ‘M178’ 4.0-litre twin turbo V8. The AMG GT is the first car to showcase this new engine which will eventually find it’s way into the upcoming C63. In standard form the engine is good for 456bhp and 600NM of torque. The GT S will have 503bhp and 650NM of torque. The GT gets from 0-100 km/h in 4 second flat while the GT S shaves two tenths of a second off.
Much of the GT’s development carries off from where the SLS left off. As such the GT has a updated version of the Getrag 7-speed dual clutch transmission as the SLS, which is mounted at the rear for better weight distribution (47/53). Like the SLS the GT’s body is made from aluminium. In standard form it weighs around 1540kg and the GT S weighs around 1570kg. Both variants receive a locking diff which is mechanical in the GT and electric in the GT S.

Also electric (partially) is the steering which is electro-mechanical and changes at different speeds. Other racy bits include double wishbone front suspension and multi link tears, massive brakes (360mm for the GT and 390mm for GT S) with the option of 402mm carbon ceramics. The GT comes with 19-inch wheels on all four corners while the GT S has 20-inch wheels at the rear.

Inside it follows the current Mercedes design theme as we’ve already seen in the new S and C-Class. I think it looks great but then I am a sucker for red leather. It’s also an evolution on the SLS’s with the wraparound cockpit centred around the driver. A larger display screen dominates the centre console. Mercedes’ new Touch Pad system also makes an appearance in the GT. Don’t think it’s all form and no function, the boot has a 350L capacity - roughly the same as an A-Class.

Actually, looking at the dimensions it’s pretty compact. The GT AMG measures at 4546mm long, some 92mm shorter than the SLS with a shorter wheelbase and overhangs. At 1939mm wide it’s the same width so the “everyday usability” sports car tag might not be so useable given the SLS’s width was one of its biggest flaws. The GT is also 27mm taller than its predecessor for better cabin space, ironic since the gullwing doors on the SLS were meant to make it easier to get in and out. In the GT those legendary doors are gone in favour of more conventionally hinged doors.

But come on, we have to talk about its styling. Like the rest of the car its an evolution of the SLS’s and if I’m honest it’s utterly beautiful. The SLS was never a car I would’ve described as “beautiful”, not in the traditional sense. It was a good looking car, striking in fact. It had presence and it looked “cool”. The GT AMG however has a new found elegence which the SLS never had. Maybe its the smaller dimension, maybe its the cleaner lines but there’s no doubt its worked. You still get the ridiculously long bonnet and a pushed back cabin design with a short pert bum. The rear actually has a liftback style tailgate (ala Aston Vantage) as opposed to a regular-style bootlid. As you can see the GT AMG is anything but conventional.

So that’s the GT AMG, a smaller, sportier, and sexier successor to the SLS. It has quite the challenge of filling the boots of a legend as well as taking on other motoring greats such as the Porsche 911, Aston Vantage, Audi R8, and Jaguar F-Type. It’ll go on sale sometime next year and will be considerably less expensive than the SLS, reports suggest it’ll cost as much as half as much as the SLS GT. But am I, whose favourite car is/was the SLS AMG convinced? Well the size, price, looks, and interior point in the right direction. I’ll have to reserve final judgement until I see and hear one in real life but on first impressions it’s a worthy addition to Mercedes’ long history of über desirable GT supercars.
