Interview #427: Alina Trifan

Take a peek into the world of Alina Trifan. Currently based in Italy.

q: Give a short introduction of yourself:
a: I’ll be 22 years old in a month. I’m originally from Moldova, but seven years ago my family and I moved to Italy. It was a huge change for me, however I found comfort in my first point-and-shoot and never looked back. I’m currently studying Linguistic Mediation.

q: What do you think is the value in the process of photography? Has it affected the way you see things?
a: I think you know you have a good image when you first see it in your mind, then you click the shutter button. For me, that’s where all the adrenaline comes from. In that lapse of time you get more than half of the job done. I read a quote by Minor White once that really stuck with me: “I’m always mentally photographing everything as practice”. Now I’m catching myself being more mindful towards my surroundings and to the way light interacts with it. I’m generally more aware of how life looks.

q: I like your gig photographs, any tips when shooting in those tricky light situations?
a: As a general rule I’d say to shoot and move a lot! Sometimes my muscles would hurt the day after a gig, festivals in particular are very tiring, but maybe that’s because I’m not that sporty. Try different angles, learn what works best for you and use the light in your favor. Also, don’t forget to enjoy yourself.

q: Any recent memorable gigs?
a: I got to see Lali Puna this summer, it was the most perfect closing show.

q: Photographic equipment?
a: Very modest: I shoot with a Canon 550D and my most preferred lens is the 50 mm f/1.8 but I also use the standard 18-55 mm f/3.5.

q: Upcoming projects or ideas?
a: All I know is that I have a new-found love for the color gray and I’d love to take more portraits of strangers. I have to find a way to mix the two and overcome my shyness.

q: Any new music to recommend?
a: Girless & The Orphan just released a new album. The most surprising discoveries this summer were Sharon Van Etten and Damon Albarn. Some of my all-time favorites are Radiohead, The National, Brand New, Fine Before You Came and Winter Dust.

your video quality is so good for a reasonably new channel! what equipment do you use, if you dont mind me asking? thank you so much

Thank u! I film on the canon rebel t5i with the 18-55 mm lens and I use natural light (mostly) otherwise I’m using lap light with a home made soft box over it and then I just use the mic on the camera and my editing software is just imovie :-))

Hey I’m Elizabeth I’m 16 from NY and I’ve done photography probably since i was around 12 years old. It’s my favorite thing to do and it just makes me overall happy I’m not sure how to describe it. I wouldn’t call myself a photographer I just really love doing it I don’t even know what I love about it so much. It’s kinda like my escape from all my responsibilities (SATS kill me) and it makes me very content if that even remotely makes sense. I don’t really have a style yet I’m still trying to figure that out… fashion photography is cool though. I use a canon rebel t3i and my lens is a 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 I think… yeah I just really want people to notice my photos because I love getting feedback and advice and making friends that sounds cheesy but it’s true! So yes this is a cool thing you’re doing I hope I gave enough info and that you like my pics I reallyyyyy hope you do ok bye!

Hi!! I´m an amateur photographer from Uruguay a small country of south america. I am a fan of urban photography, people photography and, focusing primarily on animals and landscapes.

My camera is a Nikon D5100 and lenses that I use regularly are: Nikon 18-55 , Sigma 120-400 mm , Rokinon Fish eye, Nikon 50mm, Sigma 17-50

I firmly believe that photography is a sublime art form with which we can reach the soul of those who see it. Through it we can leave a mark that will never be erased

Hello!

Are you attending Phoenix Comicon on any of the 4 days (June 5-8) and want some pictures taken of your great cosplay for not a lot of money?

Well I’m here to help you out!

You can message me any time before the con or just come up to me while we’re there, and we’ll go outside and take a bunch of great pictures of your cosplay for just $7.

Want to take pictures at somewhere other than the convention center? I’m sure we can work that out too for like $10, as long as it’s within walking distance.

I’ll be able to work out pretty much any time on any day of the convention, excluding Saturday from 1:30-2:30 and Sunday from 12:30.

So again, that’s:

  • Any day of the convention
  • Between 7-10 dollars
  • I can travel away from the convention center, as long as the location is in walking distance.
  • I will not be doing any surrealistic editing on your photos. As I;m charging so little, I won’t be able to do any special effects on your photos. I will be doing some retouching and editing to make your cosplay look top notch, and possibly some black and white photos if you’re interested, but nothing more. Sorry!
  • I’ll be using a Nikon D3200 camera with an 18-55 mm lens.

If you’re interested, shoot me a message here on tumblr or just track me down at the convention and I’m sure we can work something out. Thanks and have fun!
