16 hours

could u imagine inventing butter, and you take a big spoonful and ur like 😏 then that shit hit your tongue and….. 😰….. 😨 ….. ur done! 😱🤢 soooooo nasty! ugh! ohhh it’s repulsive! but then ur thinking 🤔i spent 16 hours making this little bowl of this filth, not gonna just toss it! no way! 😑 so u grab some of your leftover bread that you grew yourself on a bread tree. spread some of that Gunk on that bad boy. 😧 bottoms up!!! …….😳❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️ it’s amazing! it’s so delicious! how can something so horrendous by itself, make this bread so much better❓❗️❓❗️ you losing your damn mind

as ur friendly Neighborhood Nursing Student™ i feel somewhat compelled to remind everyone with the hot weather:

  1. every liquid except sea water and alcohol hydrates you. It’s not CHUG WATER OR DIE. in fact, gatorade and the like are designed to hydrate you efficiently.
  2. yeah, this includes coffee and tea and soda. the diuretic is not enough to cancel out the liquid. juices and milk have solids in them, sure, but they’re also mostly liquid! it counts.
  3. your body can only absorb so much water at a time, so chugging 64 oz of water at noon and calling it good will do a wonderful job of flushing your kidneys, but not so much of hydrating your tissues. it’s more important that you’re getting consistent fluid throughout the day.
  4. there’s a lot of fancy ways to determine How Much Water (Liquid) I Should Drink but honestly? 8 oz (1 cup) every other hour on cool days and 8 oz every hour on hot days should be fine (assuming you sleep for a normal amount of time per day…. i’m assuming ur awake 16 hours a day.)
  5. figure out how many oz each of ur favorite cups is. it’ll help your guesstimation.
  6. if ur urine is darker than light yellow, you’re dehydrated.
  7. if u pinch the skin on the back of ur hand for a couple seconds and it takes more than a second or two go to back to normal then ur dehydrated.
  • me: i slept 16 hours
  • neurotypical: wow! i wish i could do that!
  • me: and i wish i could live a productive life without having a cloud hanging over my head and blocking every obstacle, making it 10x more difficult for me to accomplish anything which then in turn creates more reasons for me to be depressed. we all want things, stacy.

Why can’t kids today just work their way through college the way earlier generations did?

The answer to that question isn’t psychology. It’s math. A summer job just doesn’t have the purchasing power it used to, especially when you compare it with the cost of college.

Let’s take the example of a working-class student at a four-year public university who’s getting no help from Mom and Dad. In 1981-‘82, the average full cost to attend was $2,870. That’s for tuition, fees and room and board.

The maximum Pell Grant award back then for free tuition help from the government was $1,800. That leaves our hypothetical student on the hook for just about $1,000. Add in a little pocket money, too — say $35 a week. That makes an extra $1,820 for the year on top of the $1,000 tuition shortfall.

Now, $3.35 an hour was the minimum wage back then. So, making $2,870 meant working 842 hours. That’s 16 hours a week year-round — a decent part-time job. It’s also about nine hours a day for three straight months — a full-time, seven-day-a-week summer job. Or, more likely, a combination of both. In short: not impossible. Far from it.

For today’s public university student, though, the numbers have all changed in the wrong direction.

Why Summer Jobs Don’t Pay

In my searches for THE TRUTH, I’ve done a lot of listening.  I’ve listened to haunted houses to hear ghosts from other dimensions.  I’ve listened to radio signals from the cosmos for signs of alien life.  But on my most recent quest to help the Crystal Gems, I forgot to listen to someone very important: the Crystal Gems.  If you wanna help someone else, you can’t make it all about you - no matter how sweet your KATANA BLADES may be!  You gotta listen and help spread their words.

I’ve also learned that HUMANS NEED TO SLEEP.  I didn’t sleep for 48 hours and I PASSED OUT FOR DAYS.  I woke up on the floor in the foyer of my house.  My dad said that’s as far as he could drag me with his bad back.  From now on, I’m sticking to my normal schedule of 16 hours of sleep a night.

Anyway, if you’re in Beach City, come grab a Ronalphlet and learn how you can help the Crystal Gems!

Have you ever found yourself wanting a metric ton of DAI music? Have you ever thought to yourself, aw man, DAI’s soundtrack was 15 hours shorter than I wanted it to be? If that sounds like you, then this is a link for you.

I’ve ripped all the music from this game - that is, all the ambient snippets of music that you hear while running around in the world, and all the music that happens in cutscenes - and it turns out there’s 16 hours (1.6 gigs) of it.

(- here’s the download link -)

So if you’ve found yourself wishing you had the heaps of music that never made it to the official soundtrack, you can now roll around in hours of it.

That Time We Flew Past Pluto…

Two years ago today (July 14), our New Horizons spacecraft made its closest flyby of Pluto…collecting images and science that revealed a geologically complex world. Data from this mission are helping us understand worlds at the edge of our solar system.

The spacecraft is now venturing deeper into the distant, mysterious Kuiper Belt…a relic of solar system formation…to reach its next target. On New Year’s Day 2019, New Horizons will zoom past a Kuiper Belt object known as 2014 MU69.

The Kuiper Belt is a disc-shaped region of icy bodies – including dwarf planets such as Pluto – and comets beyond the orbit of Neptune. It extends from about 30 to 55 Astronomical Units (an AU is the distance from the sun to Earth) and is probably populated with hundreds of thousands of icy bodies larger than 62 miles across, and an estimated trillion or more comets.

Nearly a billion miles beyond Pluto, you may be asking how the spacecraft will function for the 2014 MU69 flyby. Well, New Horizons was originally designed to fly far beyond the Pluto system and explore deeper into the Kuiper Belt.

The spacecraft carries extra hydrazine fuel for the flyby; its communications system is designed to work from beyond Pluto; its power system is designed to operate for many more years; and its scientific instruments were designed to operate in light levels much lower than it will experience during the 2014 MU69 flyby.

What have we learned about Pluto since its historic flyby in 2015?

During its encounter, the New Horizons spacecraft collected more than 1,200 images of Pluto and tens of gigabits of data. The intensive downlinking of information took about a year to return to Earth! Here are a few things we’ve discovered:

Pluto Has a Heart

This image captured by New Horizons around 16 hours before its closest approach shows Pluto’s “heart.” This stunning image of one of its most dominant features shows us that the heart’s diameter is about the same distance as from Denver to Chicago. This image also showed us that Pluto is a complex world with incredible geological diversity.

Icy Plains

Pluto’s vast icy plain, informally called Sputnik Planitia, resembles frozen mud cracks on Earth. It has a broken surface of irregularly-shaped segments, bordered by what appear to be shallow troughs.

Majestic Mountains

Images from the spacecraft display chaotically jumbled mountains that only add to the complexity of Pluto’s geography. The rugged, icy mountains are as tall as 11,000 feet high.

Color Variations

This high-resolution enhanced color view of Pluto combines blue, red and infrared images taken by the New Horizons spacecraft. The surface of Pluto has a remarkable range of subtle color variations. Many landforms have their own distinct colors, telling a complex geological and climatological story.

Foggy Haze and Blue Atmosphere

Images returned from the New Horizons spacecraft have also revealed that Pluto’s global atmospheric haze has many more layers than scientists realized. The haze even creates a twilight effect that softly illuminates nightside terrain near sunset, which makes them visible to the cameras aboard the spacecraft.

Water Ice

New Horizons detected numerous small, exposed regions of water ice on Pluto. Scientists are eager to understand why water appears exactly where it does, and not in other places.

We have 24 hours a day.
They say you need 8 hours
to have a healthy sleep.
That has left you 16 hours
to chase your dreams.
But sometimes,
we spent half of it
doing the happiest things.
And when something
has gone wrong,
our day happened in reverse.
That we choose to close our eyes,
for more than 16 hours—
having the sweetest fantasies.
And we will be awake
with confused minds
for less than 8 hours,
yet wishing
we can obtain
our dreams
in just 24 hours.

hi I’m kelsey.

I’m in a really bad situation at the moment and it’s really hard for me to even write this, I’m not one to usually ask or even open up when help is needed but this is really urgent and apparently this is all I have left.

So my mum was recently diagnosed with a disability called MS which is basically like brain damage and it affects the whole body, she had to leave her job because she’s in so much pain and she was on sick pay for a while which did help but now she’s not getting any money and even the government won’t give her money.

A drabble masterpost:

Here’s a complied list of all drabbles I’ve written (I’ll update it every now and then), divided into sections. Most prompts within each section are flat-out Emison, but there’s a good amount of ideas involving the other girls and/or other issues.

The “random requests” section includes prompts that don’t really affect on-screen events (nor do on-screen events exactly affect these prompts), and the Emison drabbles are sorted into “established” and “non-established/in-between” categories in case you only want to read about them already being in a relationship or otherwise.

The “alternative on-screen events” section includes prompts that could have happened (if it weren’t for actual events); these alter what we’ve seen on the live show.

Note: If you don’t want to go through this list one by one, you can always find all of my drabbles (except for a select few) by scrolling through here: http://capn-charlie.tumblr.com/tagged/emison+drabble. This link will stay updated with my newer drabbles while this post may/may not be always up-to-date.

Enjoy!

Binding advice if you don’t/can’t have a binder!!

If you have chest dysphoria but you don’t have a binder for whatever reason (or even if you just want to have a really good sport bra for a good price), I have something for you. I found this amazing sport bra in H&M a few weeks ago and I’m in love with it. It was quite cheap and it’s sooo comfortable you won’t even believe me.

Most likely it will work best if you are small chested (I’m a B cup btw) and it won’t make you completely flat, but with a loose shirt on it does a great job.

It won’t make you feel like you’re suffocating, you can exercise and do anything you want while wearing it. But you shouldn’t wear it for too long!! (just an example, I went traveling and I had to wear it for 16 hours every day and I started having breathing problems on the 3rd day)
Also don’t buy one that’s smaller than the size you need because the band will hurt your ribs.

My store only had white ones but I’m sure H&M’s site has other nice colors too. It’s super comfortable, it’s safe, it was cheap and it makes me feel a lot better. 10/10 would recommend.

I hope I could help someone with this!
