Diversity In Doctor Who: 13 Non-White-Males Who’d Be A Great 13th Doctor
We’re in limbo with Doctor Who again. It’s always a strange place to be and the fact the show is in this position every few years doesn’t make it any more comfortable.
Interesting list - I don’t know all the actors on this list owing to how little TV I manage to get around to watching, but the majority of them sound like great picks.
Except Helen Mirren, aside from my natural bias against her - she does nothing for me as an actor or a person, she’s just way too old. Not that I’ve anything against older actors playing the Doctor (Capaldi has been freaking brilliant in the role), but because, unfortunately, it’s a very physically demanding role - given both Capaldi AND the vastly younger Matt Smith injured a knee while filming, you need a younger actor.
My own probably-never-gonna-happen picks would include Emma Watson, Daisy Ridley, Chloe Bennet, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
