Arturo is a 29-year-old male polar bear currently living in Argentina’s Mendoza Zoo. He is suffering in 40C (104F) heat in an enclosure that has just 20 inches of water for him to swim in and has as a consequence been displaying worrying behavior.

Please sign this petition to spread the word to give Arturo a chance at being transferred to a zoo in Canada which has better facilities for an animal that is used to polar conditions.

200,000 sign petition to move ‘depressed’ polar bear to Canada

More than 200,000 people have signed an online petition calling for a polar bear living in ‘deplorable’ conditions in an Argentinian zoo to be moved.

Arturo is currently being kept in a cramped, concrete enclosure at Argentina’s Mendoza Zoo, where temperatures can climb to 104F (40C), with just a 20-inch-deep pool for him to keep cool.

Arturo is kept in a 104º enclosure. We want to save him, other suffering polar bears and their habitats around the world.

I’ve added a third target of $5000. It’s a huge amount of money so lets see how it goes…

The second goal of $2000 has been hit. Incredible! Thank you so much!

The first goal of $1000 has been hit. Amazing!

This is Arturo, a polar bear living in South America who has been called the ‘world’s saddest animal’.

He sits in a concrete enclosure at Mendoza Zoo in Argentina in temperatures of up to 40C (104F) and is said to have been depressed since his long-term friend Pelusa died two years ago.

It is claimed the 29-year-old’s lonely life is causing him to display abnormal behaviour, including tilting his head and showing his teeth while pacing back and forth and rocking from side to side.

I hope this donation drive will help bring more attention to the Arturo’s cause and help the charity take action for him, other suffering polar bears and their habitats around the world.

Set a tranquil tone. Light blue candles; they soothe, relax and create serenity. Burn some sandalwood incense. Dim the lights. Play soothing music. Place warm drained chamomile tea bags over your closed eyes and sip from your cup. Think of the ocean at low tide, remnants of slow waves at your feet. Now drift…

Don’t cry for him, Argentina? No tears of Mrs Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner for tortured polar bear Arturo. Your hands are stained with his blood when he dies.’ -Cher

PSA for those spending their Christmas holiday down under!

Down here the weather is already starting to warm up so its very likely that this summer will be a doosie. and this means foreigners are even more susceptible to fall victim to that great big fiery fart in the sky.
Our summers can be anywhere between 35 - +40C ( 95 - +104F for you american foke) so its important to stay safe

Here are some tips to keep you safe and cool. and feel free to add more

  • KEEP LOTS OF WATER, AND DRINK IT!!! (you gotta stay hydrated bro)
  • SLIP on some sunnies, SLOP on a hat, SLAP on sunscreen (Skin cancer is a big killer here)
  • These things are fucking amazing, if you can find one BUY IT!
  • If you feel your self start to over heat spray cool water on your forearms and legs, there are lots of capillaries there so it will cool down more blood quicker. (this is how kangaroo’s keep them selves cool by licking their forearms)
  • Wetting your hat and/or hair helps too
  • Lemon and Lime Bitters is very refreshing
  • Don’t drink beer when hot not only will it dry you out faster but it tastes like shit
  • ICE
  • Make sure you have travelers insurance, just in case you do suffer a heat stroke. A ride in an ambivalence isn’t cheap.
  • While you might think a day at the beach is a great way to keep cool, so does every man and their dog. Be careful if you plan to go to any of the really popular beaches like Manly or Bondi. ESPECIALLY ON PUBLIC HOLIDAYS people getting trampled on busy days is a common occurrence
  • Seriously Drink water
  • if its too hot for you is perfectly ok to take a nap on the tiles. (i do it all the time)

#tmi oh my god. i have never felt this bad. on top of nbeing on my period i didnt get good sleep and i have never been this carsick in my entire life so i basically feel like dying. on top of all this all the settings on my computer are suddenly different? like the cursor is fuckin huge? all the buttons are smaller? am i hallucinating from heat stroke? oh my god.

  • dont wear socks the fuck
  • get one of those giant floppy sun hats its a good fucking idea
  • avoid sugar drinks nope dont drink em have a shit ton of water instead
  • uuh find a pool or beach if possible (i realize not lots of ppl have that option tho)
  • shorts and crop tops. S H O R T S  A N D   C R O P  T O P S
  • if ur house is multiple stories stay on the first floor if u can trust me my room is on the third floor and the ac doesnt get all the way up here its terrible BC heat rises too u fucks jus t stay on the lowest level u can

okie thats all good luck friends i am here to help if u need tips -

The moment you realize it’s over 40 degrees/104F in the sun, not a whisp of a breeze, and there’s literally not one piece of clothing in your wardrobe that, put on your body, won’t turn you into a sweaty pile of goo before three minutes are up.
And you have to use the public transport to get to the opposite end of the city.

Freebird: but what if, plot twist, your CATS are the avengers tho. I'd be willing to put money on Vanya actually being Thor

Freebird2k5Ever: That would explain why his ass is SO FUCKING HEAVY right now.

I think it’s because cat body temperature is ~104F, that’s why he always feels like a giant goddamned oven when he’s like, 9 pounds of stupidly healthy tabby.

THAT AND BECAUSE HE WON’T GET OFF ME AND HE AND KATJA ARE CONSPIRING TO MAKE ME SWEAT TO DEATH.

[Mod: I’m in Australia 8D It’s spring for us right now but in the middle of summer it tends to get to 40C (I believe that’s 104F) but can get to 45C (113F) in my area and even hotter in other states @3@
To my understanding Florida, California and other similar US states aren’t too far from Australia when it comes to horrid humidity and heat :P ]
