thoughts about the 100th ep and that 5x09 spoiler...

So I’ve been percolating thoughts about this stuff for a while now. Every time we get a new bit of information, I add it to the pile. So I wanted to collect these thoughts I’ve had into one post. Mostly for my own reference but if you find some use out of it, that’s all the better.

  • I think the “dream” isn’t just Oliver’s mind. I think it’s induced by the aliens.
  • I think Oliver, Sara, Ray, Thea, Dig are all captured and put into those pods we saw in that one BTS pic and that is where the dream is “fed” to them.
  • I believe they won’t realize it’s a dream at first. The episode description sort of indicates this when it says everything seems perfect before Oliver starts to notice imperfections.
  • I think Oliver may realize what’s happening first and then clue the others in.
  • I think Thea will be reluctant to leave, hence “Thea, we can’t stay here.”
  • This means that being engaged to Laurel isn’t Oliver’s “ideal” or even his subconscious wish/dream. He’s not controlling the dream.
  • I think seeing Felicity might play into Oliver’s realization of the dream. He may feel a way when he sees her which might trigger an actual memory.
  • Bonus points if that memory triggered is their first kiss lololol
  • I’m not expecting a lot of overt Olicity or even OTA in this episode. This will be mostly focused on Oliver’s family life and seeing his parents and furthering that legacy plot while paying a little homage to that history of the show.
  • I also think it’s OK that it’s not Olicity/OTA focused, the rest of hte show is so I can give it up for this one. Plus I just really wanna see his parents again and see Moira with Thea and just YES. ALL OF IT.
  • I think 5x09 might show Felicity realizing something’s off with Billy.
  • I’m pretty sure the spoiler Jen shared with us refers to a season 1 flashback.
  • Again, I’m not expecting OVERT romantic moments here, but I am expecting the seeds of hope to be sown.
  • I think this will give us a glimmer of that hope, to get us through midseason break and into 5b.
  • Yes, I still think Billy is totes evil. The only question is HOW evil?
  • Sidekick? Or Prometheus himself? The debate rages on.
  • I’m kind of excited to see the old s1 arrow suit again too, ngl.
  • Basically: these next two eps sound AMAZING to me.
  • I’m very ready to celebrate this amazing milestone for this show.
  • This cast and crew have put their heart and souls into this show and I’m so grateful for that. I’m so happy for them.
  • So I will be raising a glass. And looking towards the road ahead.

Happy weekend, y’all!

It’s A Wonderful Life... here we come! Arrow 100th Ep Description

The CW released the 100th episode description! They will indeed be exploring a world where Oliver never got on the Queen’s Gambit. Before you flip out, please be sure to read my spec on the episode. I wrote it when photos of KC on set and wearing an engagement ring were posted.

I am REALLY excited about this. I love it when shows do these kinds of episodes. I love exploring the road not taken. I love talking about “What if?”

The key phrase to focus on is “Oliver starts to notice small imperfections.” So what will be the imperfections? The point of all of this is to reinforce Oliver’s true reality. The point is to reaffirm The Green Arrow, Olicity, OTA and the legacy Oliver is building. Oliver will have to make a choice in the end - the illusion or what is real. He will reach for what is real and hold onto it a little tighter at the end of all of this I think. It will encourage him to keep trying to be a better man.

Free! DUB - Episode One: Best WORST Moments

aka why i’m laughing my ass off. i was very tempted to include every time they said REEN instead of rin or sahm EHHH zuka but. that would be too much. even for me.

EDIT: I’m super late on this lmao but i’ve uploaded the dub here for download and here to dailymotion. if you want to watch this trainwreck. Sorry for the low quality! (also. for the ppl who’re telling me the pronunciations are right: i hear you but it still sounds hilarious 2 me)

The Show Choice 100th Ep | Best Of Best ✰

LL Engagement Ring Photo (Spoilers)

I want to compliment my Tumblr peeps. My bubble is tight. Y’all are chill. As for Twitter… I am getting tired. Very tired. May have to take a break because the negativity is getting to me.

Right now Arrow is filming somewhere between 5x08-5x10. Quite frankly, I can’t tell which episode they are on. I think they are filming out of order. They are either filming the 100th episode or 5x09. Those are my best guesses.

Arrow 5x06 Thoughts

Despite feeling awful all day yesterday and not looking forward to the episode at all, I found I really enjoyed it. And yesterday, I needed to enjoy something. It felt good. I love when Arrow surprises me and it sure as heck did yesterday.

  • Oliver shooting at tennis balls will never not be hot. The call back to s1 was very welcome.
  • In fact I find myself really enjoying all these little homages to s1 (and s2, to some degree). We don’t need the 100th ep to do that (though I’m sure it will), this whole season is doing that.
  • I’m not going to suggest there’s no flaws. There are. Women have a very thin voice on this show.
  • Especially now with Laurel gone (it hurt me to type that but the fact is, Laurel took a lot of the narrative and without her… all we’ve had is Oliver)
  • (Don’t get me wrong, I like Oliver and it’s his show. I get it.)
  • (Stephen must be fucking thrilled that he doesn’t have to share the narrative anymore) (i’m sorry that was mean) (but true)
  • (At the same time I would have liked that narrative hole to be filled with Thea and Felicity’s perspective.)
  • What helps (a little) is that I’ve accepted what Arrow is and how it probably won’t give me what I want. Not ALL the things I want.
  • I want Felicity to have a fleshed out perspective. HAHA tough shit. Not gonna get it. Closest we got was 3x05, with a little bit in 4x11 and 4x06 and just a smidge in 2x14. Not enough. Not nearly enough. I’d like to think we’ll get a 3x05 again but I’m not holding my breath. Not this season at least.
  • I am enjoying Thea’s arc so far this season but I would like to see more of her perspective on things, see what her life is really like now and what she’s thinking and feeling and all that stuff. OH WELL.
  • SO glad we saw more of Evelyn this episode. Again, not nearly enough, but it’s something. Better than what was before. So I’ll take it as a win.
  • I could write a whole post about my frustrations with Arrow’s treatment of female characters. BUT THIS IS NOT THAT POST. So I’m moving on.
  • Remember the tennis balls? That was awesome. Wish he’d been shirtless though.
  • Thea and Lance’s obvious disgust about Oliver dating Susan Williams gives me LIIIIIFE. That is basically the show channeling the audience and I love it. They’re saying “this is gross, we know it.”
  • That doesn’t mean I don’t think he will date her. But praise god it looks like its gonna be SUPER BRIEF. I was expecting it this episode, but got a reprieve so that really limits her time to be a thorn in my side. GOOD NEWS.
  • Oliver’s continued insistence the whole episode that Susan wasn’t his girlfriend added 5 years to my life.
  • Related: the boyfriend/girlfriend jabbing between Oliver and Felicity was delightful and also unequivocal proof that these two are so not okay with moving on, just in case anyone wasn’t clear on that.
  • Felicity telling Billy she works for the Green Arrow was good for her character and REVEALING for his.
  • Listen, we all know Quentin isn’t Prometheus. But someone is setting him up. Someone wants to cast suspicion on him and Oliver and Felicity were very right at the end of the episode, it is someone within the SCPD.
  • Now, I feel like it’s Billy. Yes, I think he could also just be working for the real Prometheus, giving him access to the SCPD lockup, etc. But I have my reasons for specifically thinking it’s him.
  • I don’t want to discuss that theory though. It’s kind of out there and if it is true, I think it should probably be a surprise. If I see other people start posting about it though, I’ll throw in my own two cents.
  • This would mean Billy is using Felicity. Even if he’s just working for Prometheus. This opens up a huge number of delightful story possibilities. This also ties Felicity very intrinsically to the action that will play out in the last half of the season.
  • It’s almost reminiscent of 2x23 and how deeply Felicity was tied to that. Which, if I’m right, is also a beautiful homage. BLESS.
  • Does this mean 5x23 will see another “do you understand” moment? Perhaps with an “I still love you” instead? <grabby hands.gif>
  • ANYHOW. Back to my episode specific thoughts.
  • Rory remains my favorite newbie. But Evelyn has raised in the ranks. So right now it’s Rory > Evelyn > Curtis > Wild Dog. I should take wagers.
  • I love the parachute arrow.
  • Thea and Quentin are amazing and tonight pretty much confirmed that she will be the one who believes Quentin is not Prometheus and who sticks by him through this. BLESS.
  • Felicity was gorgeous the whole ep but my favorite was the concert look at the end. THAT IS MY GIRL (which is also what Oliver thought too).
  • Tyler Ritter reminds me so much of his father that it’s almost eerie. The “Ted” comparisons were real last night, folks.
  • Think of everything the EPs said… we’ll want to pull for him (yeah pull for him to DIE), he’s nothing like Ray or Oliver (snort), he’s a straight shooter (real good shot with that throwing star! 10/10!). GOD they’re such trolls.
  • Dolph Lundgren was really cool. I kept muttering “i must break you” the whole time he was in the flashback scene.

Wow, I really prattled on. I could probably do another 2000 words easy. Last night got me jazzed. I’m really excited to see what comes next now.

I will never not be mad that they made the 100th ep be more about Reagan's goodbye than about Jess' comeback. The 100th ep should've been a bottle episode with just the core cast in a group story line to celebrate the heart of the show and not to give so much attention to a guest star, no matter who's playing it. Even if the ep was more about a character who I love, like Aly, I wouldn't have liked. It was supposed to be about the group! Jess should've came back/Reagan should've left in the 99th.

Sometimes I even forget we had a 100th episode. It was a really forgettable one. It was weak in terms of comedy and it had nothing memorable to it. Jess’ story line was really random and Nick was just thinking about saying goodbye to Reagan. They should’ve made it more about Jess’ return at least. A great group story line could’ve come from this. Maybe all of them preparing a surprise for her or something and in the middle of all that something dedicated to Reagan’s goodbye. It was like almost no one noticed Jess was back, and she spent most of the episode with Reagan instead of with the main cast. And can you believe I can’t even remember what the other characters were doing in this episode? lol. The whole Reagan’s arc on season 5 was New Girl lowest point to me. Her debut episode was at least funny but the rest of them were really bad for me, and it’s not like I’m blaming HER, it was the writing. It wasn’t just her that was bad in it, every bring was. All the story lines (or at least those I can remember) were weird and forgettable, and Nick was simply the worst.

A New Curse With No Savior, You Say...

… and I ask you, how will it break then?

Because it will break, we all know that much; Emma won’t be Dark Swan forever, so something is going to have to give at some point. And trolling through the SQ tag, I found this post, and a light just went off in my head, and everything clicked.

Adam and Eddie have told us, repeatedly, that the LGBT romance is going to be set up in 5a, and develop in 5b. Kind of hard to do that very well with Mulan/Ruby/Merida (in whichever combination you prefer), when neither Mulan nor Ruby have been spotted on set yet & they’re already on episode 8 out of 10 (11 being the 100th ep special, completely separate from s5). Of course, it’s entirely possible that they’ve been filming wholly in the green screens, but it doesn’t really make much sense, & if they didn’t come back to SB with that gang, how the fuck are they supposed to be in 5b? (and even in Camelot/EF, those scenes have been shot outside, so we’d have seen them hanging around by now)

But, right, here’s the thing that we’ve been told since s1: every curse, no matter how powerful, can be broken. With True Love’s Kiss. And even if Dark Swan took precautions and did some hocus pocus so Henry’s kiss wouldn’t work (she didn’t seem too worried in the sneak… not worried at all, actually, even though she’d just been having a heart-to-heart chat with Henry), something does work. And Emma and Hook kiss plenty in the EF, and she’s still clearly the Dark Swan; I’m also willing to bet we’ll get some C$ kisses in SB in full-DO mode (wasn’t there some spoilers of that?), and nothing happens.

BUT SOMETHING DOES HAPPEN, DOESN’T IT. Because, again, Emma doesn’t stay dark forever.

Only One Knows the Truth

And Only One Can Break Her Spell.

Do you see it now? How are they ever going to introduce a LGBT romance in 5a with characters that aren’t really there?

Unless it’s with characters who are there; have always been there.

Unless it involves a cocky Dark One that never expected the Evil Queen loved her back, so had no reason, no earthly possible reason, to add in an anti-Regina TLK clause into the curse, because why should she? As far as she knows, there’s no risk on that front. Even if Regina does step up as the savior, which Emma seems to be goading her to do in 5x02, she still doesn’t expect her curse to break.

“Just really quickly, if you know me, and you guys - you know me, you know that I don’t like to learn anything. But despite my best efforts, I have learned in 100 episodes how much I rely - on how heavily I rely - on all of you. When people tell me, and they do, that they love this show I don’t think of the polished piece that we see on TV, I think about the hours we pull, the freezing outside, the laughs, hanging out, and being here. And I appreciate you all, and I look forward to coming to work and being with you all, all the time. Thank you very much.”
