100m finals

This just in: EPA finally grants $100M to Flint for clean water after Trump threatens to cut their spending by 31% according to cnn. So please tell me again why you think President Trump is such a bad person when he got these lazy bastards to work their butts on something the people of Flint have suffered since 2014?

Trump didn’t grant or approve the funding; Obama did. From The Detroit News:

The funding was approved by Congress in December and signed into law by President Barack Obama, but the EPA had to review and approve a formal request from state officials detailing how the city intends to use the grant money.

It was the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act, signed by Obama on December 16th. Trump didn’t do anything. As for all the reasons why he’s a bad person, that’s a post that would take a very, very long time to write.

We’re at the Aquatics centre for the final bit of fun of our mini-break in London. The girls are about to go on this inflatable obstacle course. The Athletics yesterday was amazing. I’ve never been to a live sporting event before and I enjoyed it lots more than I was expecting. The atmosphere was incredible. We saw the heptathlon javelin, long jump and 800m, the pole vault, hurdles 110m and 400m, 3000m steeplechase, shotput and the women’s 100m final. And we saw Jess Ennis-Hill receive her newly awarded gold medal from 2011, and Usain Bolt recieve the last medal of his career.

We’ve also had fun visiting Covent Garden, the V&A, seeing Mamma Mia at the theatre and shopping in Westfield. We stayed in a fabulous Airbnb apartment within the Olympic Park, so when 60 000 people were streaming off to the station at the end of the athletics sessions, we just got the stewards to let us through the barriers and walked home in 2 mins *much smugness*.

Food wise, things have been good. It’s nice to be able to go with the flow and not feel an urgent need to plan and micro-manage everything in advance. We have had a lot of snacky meals but I have tried to listen to my body and go with what it needs energy and nutrition wise. I still appreciate feeling present in the moment and only realising afterwards that I haven’t thought about food at all. The only bad part is I’ve had some uncomfortable moments in my body when waves of panic momentarily rush through me about my size. I try and ride them out but I could definitely do without them.

Heading off for the journey home later. We’ll be glad to get back for a rest!

G/t math (basics)

I mean why not? I’m doing this in metric since I have never really learned how to calculate in imperial units.

I know there are already a whole bunch of size comparsion tools out there. But what if you need to calculate other sizes/weights aswell? Like items animals etc.

Its better to know the basics how to do it yourself. Because its actually pretty easy to do.

Everyone should already know that a for examle you can use the average  height and multiplicate or dividate by the size factor. You got the average height of your character/item/building.

Shrinking formula

(initial height) : (size factor) = (final height)

180cm : 12 = 15cm

Growing formula

(initial height) x (size factor) = (final height)

180cm x 12 = 2160cm = 21,6m

This is easy. Because its just a lenght in one dimension.

But I discovered a lot of people have problems to calculate the weights and the surface area of an object/person.

For the surfaces we must add an extra dimension. Because a surface doesn’t only have a lenths but also a width.

Shrinking formula

(initial area) ∶ (size factor)²  = (final area)

100m² : 12² = 100m² : 144 = 0,69m²

Growing formula

(initial area) x (size factor)²  = (final area)

100m² x 12² = 100m² x 144 = 14.400m²

Its actually a little different because the weight of an object is practicly the same as mass and mass has three dimensions instead of one or two.

If you reduce the size of an object about 10 times it will not weight 10 times less. It will weight 1000 times less. Thats a lot I know.

Mass also has a lenght a width and also a depth. add an extra dimension.

Shrinking formula

(initial weight) ∶ (size factor)³  = (final weight)

80kg : 12³ = 80kg : 1728 = 0,046kg = 46g

Growing formula

(initial weight) x (size factor)³  = (final weight)

80kg x 12³ = 80kg x 1728 = 138.240kg = 138,24t

This kinda looks pretty difficult but if you get the hang of it I am shure you can master it. =)

Is everyone ready for my top 3 of kindest athletes IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER - I really can’t choose, but I want everyone to know about these three things that happened.

1. Matt Grevers. Matt was running to the bus, coming from the 100m back final if I remember correctly, and people asked for an autograph. He quickly signed it and then ran to the bus. BUT he realized: it was not his bus, it was the bus of the chinese athletes. So what did Matt do? HE WENT BACK TO THE PEOPLE CAUSE HE SAID HE PREVIOUSLY RUSHED BY SO HE WALKED OVER AND TOOK PICTURES WITH THEM.

2. Chad Le Clos. Also running to the bus :’) (it happened a lot, sometimes team mates would call to them to stop wasting energy, that they would hold the bus :’)) Three children wanted a picture. Chad answered he needed to catch the bus. The children were like okay and took a step back. AND THEN CHAD WAS LIKE NO COME ALONG!! And Chad and the children hurried to the bus and on the way he took the phone to take a picture and then gave it back and continued his way.  (Also Chad was very popular and thanked the fans for their support while leaving. like almost thanking us for asking for pictures and autographs :’))

3. Adam Peaty. ALSO HURRYING TO A BUS. Cause he always got asked for pictures from a shit ton of people (including me). Usually he would be like “I really *takes picture* need to *signs autograph* get to *takes picture* my bus *takes another picture*. And the last evening there were SO. MANY. PEOPLE. And he couldn’t possibly sign everything and takes pictures with everyone. So what did Adam do? HE OPENED HIS BAG? GOT OUT HIS SWIM CAPS AND TRUNKS AND THREW THEM IN THE AIR FOR PEOPLE TO CATCH. What a champ. Really.

13 August: King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima were present to support Dutch swimmer Ranomi Kromowidjojo compete in the women’s 50m freestyle event at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Kromowidjojo finished the race sixth, having previously won gold during the event back in London 2012. Their Majesties also watched the Men’s 4 x 100m Medley Relay Final.
