Rant: on the ML fandom and the fucking love-square
You ever scroll through the Miraculous tag on Tumblr/AO3/Fanfiction and get the urge to either to pick your eyes out with a fork or slap several people in the face? Or even better, have you tried to explain to someone outside the fandom how the stupid-ass love-square works?
I understand that I’m ranting about shipping in a show meant for six-year-olds but consider that this rant is mostly on how the fandom (which consists mostly of 12-24 year-olds) twists those ships for their own pleasure.
A concept that no one in this fucking fandom seems to understand: superhero identities and civilian identities can’t be separated to the point where they are two completely different people. Ladybug is still Marinette in the same way that Marinette is still Ladybug - Chat Noir is still Adrien in the same way that Adrien is still Chat Noir. A costume doesn’t change that, nor does their personality when they are in said costume - there are more than enough posts analyzing that since Marinette and Adrien have more freedom as superheroes they are therefore more confident/act different than in their civilian form.
Which means that: if any of the ships in the love-square becomes canon, then the entire love-square becomes canon. PERIOD. After some digging (thanks @cataro for the source ) we know that the transformation can last as long as the lucky charm/cataclysm isn’t used, but it would still be a bit hard for them to live/sleep/spend a lot of time together without at some point revealing their civilian/superhero identities or at very least drop hints (voluntarily or not) - especially when you consider that they are not full time superheroes and even worse they go to the same class and are “good friends” (as of season 2).
So the next time you are thinking of sending threats to a fellow user because they prefer Ladrien over Adrienette or Ladynoir over Marichat, please re-read this post and remember that these are two people, not four.
End of rant.
