“ This is where it all happened for the first time. The heartache, and the happiness, all of it. Being in this hallway feels like it was yesterday. I wake up sometimes.. and I miss it. But this is good. It’s all still right here. ” — One Tree Hill : September 23rd, 2003 - April 4th 2012.
It’s the oldest story in the world. One day you’re seventeen and planning for someday and then quietly and without you ever really noticing, someday is today. And then someday is yesterday. And this is your life.
It was such a great day on tumblr reliving and celebrating the show with everyone. Sad, but extremely bittersweet and wonderful. This show will always be a part of all our lives because it was a show we could all relate to in our own ways. It may be 10 years old and no longer on the air, but it will always be there for us to turn back to. After all, there is only one Tree Hill. And it is, and will always be, our home.
Mark said it best, “’We’re still here. We just won’t see you every week.’ I like that tone, and I like that feel. So I kind of wanted to leave the fans with that, like Tree Hill will always be here. And I think that’s a nice place to be.”
9 seasons. 187 episodes. For many of us, it was more than just a show. It was an escape each week, and for one hour, our hectic lives paled in comparison to the dramatic situations and storylines we got to watch develop and unfold. Heart and tragedy and humor all rolled into one…and of course some incredible music along the way too. At its simplest, we learned about friendship and family and growing up into the best possible versions of ourselves.
This show will forever have an impact on my life; one that I may never be able to truly express in the best way. But I will never forget it nor will I forget all that it has done for me. Thank you to Mark Schwahn, the incredible cast, and the wonderful crew. Happy 10th Birthday, One Tree Hill! There truly is only ONE Tree Hill…and it will always be our home.
