Jess, Help me with something. There is a pic of Cait in a very low black sparkly dress and Sam in dark suit, vest, black shirt and tie. The date stamp at the bottom is 13/1/20. How can that be when they were cast later that year???

It’s from January 2014 :)

No apologies for being

Adults who I trusted and looked up to taught me some pretty horrible things from birth, and I am still coming to terms with that today.

  • They said my heart was “deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked” (Jeremiah 17:9)
  • They said “Every intention of the thoughts of [my heart] are “only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5)
  • They said trusting my heart makes me a fool (Prov 28:26)
  • They said that anyone living without Christ is “foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing [their] days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another” (Titus 3:3)
  • They said being queer is “dishonoring of [my body]” and abominable (Rom 1:24, Lev 20:13)
  • They said “Nothing good dwells in me” (Rom 7:18)

It is taking time to understand who I am, and that that person is radiant and valuable and not inherently wrong or worthless. To live in a world where I do not have to apologize constantly for being. To live without begging the master of the universe to obliterate my identity as a human being.

God wanted to raze this house.

Instead, I choose to build it. I hope you do too. <3

Joel 1:13-20

Put on sackcloth and lament, you priests;
wail, you ministers of the altar.
Come, pass the night in sackcloth,
  you ministers of my God!
Grain offering and drink offering
are withheld from the house of your God.

Sanctify a fast,
  call a solemn assembly.
Gather the elders
and all the inhabitants of the land
to the house of the Holy One your God,
and cry out to the Holy One.

Alas for the day!
For the day of the Holy One is near,
and as destruction from the Almighty it comes.

Is not the food cut off
  before our eyes,
joy and gladness
from the house of our God?
The seed shrivels under the clods,
  the storehouses are desolate;
the granaries are ruined
  because the grain has failed.

How the animals groan!
The herds of cattle wander about
because there is no pasture for them;
even the flocks of sheep are dazed.

To you, O Holy One, I cry.
For fire has devoured
  the pastures of the wilderness,
and flames have burned
all the trees of the field.
Even the wild animals cry to you
because the watercourses are dried up,
and fire has devoured
  the pastures of the wilderness.

The lament over the locust swarm’s devastation continues from the first half of this chapter. The prophet struggles to make sense of this calamity and calls for genuine contrition – that all repent and cry out to God.

Even animals join in on the lamenting, because the devastation harms them too.

Imagine adapting Joel 1 to the modern day environmental crisis.
What would your locust swarm be a metaphor for – and what caused the swarm?
How would you write today’s animals voicing their complaint to God? – think of the endangered and extinct species, the creatures losing their homes to deforestation, the livestock kept in horrible conditions. How can we voice and enact our genuine repentance?
What needs to be done to bring renewal to the earth?

Brazil’s Adenizia Da Silva and USA’s Carli Lloyd proved to be the masters in what was a real block party between the two teams in their last FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2017 match before the finals. Brazil needed the victory to book their tickets to Nanjing and, with the support of 11 thousand on the stands, got it – 3-1 (25-20, 25-13, 18-25, 25-18).
