ARTIFICIAL PANCREAS TECHNOLOGY APPROVED BY FDA 9/28/16
I’ve been an advocate for the FDA approval of the artificial pancreas for a long time. When I was 14, I met with congressmen and congresswomen about this very topic, and targeted most my fundraising goals to contributing to the science of the system.
Today, I finally feel like I’ve achieved something!
The new system is called a “hybrid closed loop”, which means that we will still need to bolus for food (in order to stay ahead of blood sugar spikes from carbs), but the CGM technology will communicate with the pump to kick of an algorithm that self boluses! The system, like the 630G (which was just released), also suspends in the event of a low blood sugar. This removes a lot of stress regarding catching highs and lows before our BGs reach a dangerous level.
While this isn’t a cure, innovation is always exciting. Anything that contributes to the ease and comfort of diabetics is a beautiful thing.
As some of you know, I’m a MiniMed ambassador. I’m happy to answer any questions (that I know the answer to!) you may have about the MiniMed 670G system that will be released in Spring of 2017!

the wikia flips between 15/16 on their ages a lot, but IN CANON Bakugou is THE FIRST to turn 16, thereby making him the oldest (although the wikia is often off because there’s no definitive timeline out there)
((fun fact: There are no birthdays in class 1-A in March or November))
