“Ellen DeGeneres is already well known for eschewing traditional gender stereotypes. Now the lesbian comedian has announced GapKids x ED, a new collection for Gap Kids that is for every girl no matter “whether they skateboard or dance, wear dresses or jeans, build forts or paint rainbows, or everything in between.”
Featuring more gender neutral colors like beige, grey, brown, and green, the line features uplifting slogans like “Be your own hero.” One popular top bears a quotation from William Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream: “And though she be but little, she is fierce.”
“We focus so much on our differences and that is creating a lot of chaos and negativity and bullying in the world,” DeGeneres says in a promotional video for the clothes. “And I think that if we focus on what we all have in common which is ‘we all just want to be happy’ that would be a lot better.”
Miley Cyrus has the same disability as me, POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia) AKA Dysautonomia (but not everyone with Dysautonomia has pots)
Yet she isn’t spreading the much needed awareness on this and it’s screwed up.
Girls (and boys, it’s just a lot more common in girls) are getting misdiagnosed with mental disorders and being treated like they’re faking it every day by doctors and society as a whole because no one knows a damn thing about POTS and the ones who can speak up aren’t speaking.
That’s why I’ve been reblogging my post like hell, so hopefully Taylor could see it and help. Ed Sheeran has already been spreading awareness (he visited multiple fans with POTS recently.)
So maybe Taylor can learn about it from POTS experts AKA me and everyone who deals with it on a daily basis, and be the our voice alongside Ed.
Because they’re the biggest voices in the entertainment industry right now EVERYONE will listen to Taylor and Ed. We need their help.
I don’t want to sound like I’m whining, because I’m not. I’m frustrated.
