...christ was that 3 years ago already

So I might as well explain what’s going on. A couple people already know, but I should tell the rest of you.

The beginning of the school year was pretty great. I was finally back in public school (Jesus Christ I hated homeschooling) and I was making a lot of friends. About 2 or 3 months in a couple people had reacted negatively to me being gay… but it wasn’t that bad and it was one or two comments each. I didn’t mind cause it didn’t hurt me.

Then a month or so ago these kids started at me. It began pretty small and I didn’t care. It started off with a couple little jabs. Muttering “dyke” while they passed me, shit like that. But then the jabs got worse. Started calling me a “rugmuncher” and other slang of that sort. They started elbowing me or “bumping into me” in the halls. I tried to act like it didn’t bother me, but I was just acting. It got to the point that they stood right next to me one day, and went off about how gays should all be killed and we’re the scum of the earth. When I spoke up during this conversation they told me that since I’m a woman I should be treated as inferior cause “God made woman to serve men” so I should shut my mouth.

It got to the point where one of them actually pulled back like he was gonna hit me the other day and laughed when he saw I was scared…

My favorite teacher (don’t have him this semester but I had him last) runs allies, suicide intervention, and is very involved in anti bullying. So I went to him about it. He talked to them and now they aren’t bothering me too much. I was “bumped into” in the hallway again today but it’s not really that harmful.

Since Pink Shirt Day is coming up in thought now would be a good time to tell my story. I don’t know what good it’ll do but hey, maybe it’ll open some eyes considering how many people think this isn’t a problem anymore.

To show your solidarity against bullying, wear a pink shirt on February 22nd. It’s not a lot, but it helps to see the suport. You can take a picture in your pink attire and post it with the hashtag #PinkShirtUnity or #PinkShirtDay

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Your suport means so much
