... that is actually a popular tag

CONFESSION:

Everyone seems to love it when Alistair calls Morrigan a sneaky witch thief, and I do too. However, I wonder where the love is for two other lines. “Yes. Swooping is bad.” And “One minute it’s, ‘I like you,’ and then zap! Frog time.” His exaggerated voice when he says these is great. Also I want a frog spell. I really want a frog spell.

Mod Note: “Swooping is bad was actually quite popular during Origins reign and there is a tumblr tag for it :)

every time i see the ship name “tododeku” for bnha, i can’t help but whisper, “todo deku, todo the time” to myself

I think we’re kind of starting to get away from this but have y’all noticed how in the vast majority of popular media, sex scenes don’t actually tend to involve a lot of talking/fumbling/awkwardness unless it’s for humor or to indicate that the people having sex are a.) probably Wrong for each other somehow or b.) inexperienced, possibly having sex for the first time?

but “good” sex, between people who are experienced and In Love etc, is almost always effortlessly athletic and steamy and they somehow telepathically know exactly what to do. I’m not talking about knowing what their lover enjoys, that’s entirely feasible, but they never even have to coordinate what they’re doing. there’s no “do you want me on top?” or “do you want to do [x]?” or accidentally getting in each other’s way.

the overwhelming message that I’ve always gotten from pop culture is that Good Sex happens without communication and, more dangerously, that needing to communicate is a sign that you’re somehow bad at sex, when in reality that’s almost definitely a sign that you’re, you know, a considerate partner who actually gives a shit about people being comfortable when they have sex with you.

  • Tumblr mobile users: okay so the post button is barely accessible because it's not always viewable unless you stop scrolling, the tag system is completely broken, you have to scroll for 30 minutes through the "popular" sorting of a tag to get to stuff that is actually popular, porn bots are running rampant, LGBT+ friendly blogs are being marked NSFW, images fail to load 99% of the time, there is a huge discrepancy between the site's functionality on the desktop and on mobile, sometimes you can browse a blog's tags and sometimes you can't even if they tag things regularly, the tag search system searches for posts containing the word instead of being tagged with the word, you still can't add images to text posts which is an important part of making fresh memes, your error messages are incredibly uninformative in a failed attempt to sound cool, and the mobile app experience is overall frustrating at best and unusable at worst
  • Tumblr staff: worry not
  • Tumblr staff: the browsing tabs are now on the bottom
fandom blogs tag yourself

the basic: reblogs all kinds of fandom content, mostly gifs and fanart but produces their own content only rarely. has a reasonable amount of followers and friends but isnt popular. secretly has controversial opinions.

the professional: very organized, uses a complicated tagging system, often specializes in meta, gifsets or edits. they are respected but nobody actually knows anything about them??

the living shitpost: has a squad of similar people and all they do is create memes at 2AM. if you see a new fandom meme it probably came from these people. either has the default theme or changes their theme every other day.

the parent: has been in the fandom for a decade, is tired of the discourse and doesn’t keep up with new fandom jokes but is always friendly to new fans. always thinks the series was better in the Old Days.

the sinner: dont look at their blog when your parents are in the room. nuff said.

the writer: very text-heavy. posts are fics, roleplays, headcanons or asks. their writing is loved by everyone but somehow they still only get 6 notes on their posts.

the artist: produces nice fanart, probably sells it at cons or on their website. is poor and struggling and is actually a nice person. wants to take requests from people but doesnt have the time.

the discourse™: will fight anyone about anything.

Tag Yourself: Fanfiction Authors Edition
  • the newbie: has written like 1 super cliche fic, doesn't space paragraphs, everyone secretly hates them but doesn't want to be rude
  • the high schooler: only writes high school aus, is actually a middle schooler, writes 3 chapters then gives up and writes a new fic, wants to be more creative but nahhhh
  • the firecracker: CRACK FICS, just writes weird shit, usually only writes one shots but when they do go for chaptered it's super creative and well done, likes body swap a lot, always uses overdone memes
  • the fluffmaster: their stuff is short and sweet, always G rated, but they secretly have ten million kinks
  • the texter: can literally only write group chat fics, not creative enough for anything else
  • the infamous: wrote only one fic ever but it was super long and it's the most popular in the fandom
  • the smut addict: only writes smut, probably really kinky, seriously though you haven't even heard of half of these, this is messed up
  • the nonexistent: writes such average fics that you forget them, but they're actually really creative
  • the procrastinator: chapter 2??? what chapter 2???
  • the wattpad: writes self insert fics for one direction, uses wattpad, probably 9 years old, always adds vampires, generally hated

When AO3 authors tag every single ship mentioned/appearing/starring/hinted at in their story, so you can’t find any fics about the ship you was actually searching for but you still read every summary just incase it’s about your otp.

Fandometrics In Depth: WWE Edition

Wikipedia describes professional wrestling as “an athletic form of storytelling that portrays a combat sport.” The finest form of this athletic storytelling is exhibited by the members of the @wwe, and the finest place to chronicle their fables is on Tumblr. Throughout 2016, there were over a million posts and reblogs about the #WWE and we analyzed every one of them.

The thing to know about wrestling on Tumblr is that it’s huge. Andre The Giant–huge.

Wrestling is the biggest sport on Tumblr

In 2016, the #wwe tag got…

  • 224% more engagement (searches, original posts, reblogs and likes) than #basketball, the most-engaged traditional sport
  • 489% more engagements than #soccer, and
  • 749% more engagements than #nfl

But wrestling isn’t just the biggest sport. It’s the biggest on TV.

Wrestling Smash

Those huge numbers are not just limited to sports. WWE’s most popular weekly show, Raw, airs on Mondays. We looked back at the past six months, and compared it to three other Monday night shows:

As you can see in the chart below, WWE peaked every Monday throughout the summer.  There are no hiatuses in the WWE. August’s SummerSlam and its corresponding Raw episode was one of the biggest moments in the sport in 2016.  In fact, there were 692% more original posts made about #WWE on August 21st and 22nd than there were for Supergirl, Shadowhunters and Gotham combined.

Top Wrestlers

The uninitiated might assume that John Cena is number 1, but actually the most popular wrestler is Dean Ambrose (aka alternate universe Ed Sheeran), who was posted about 408% more than the Leader of the Cenanation. Probably because Ambrose was the top WWE champion for most of the year, but maybe also because people were shipping Ambreigns. On the Diva side, @sashabankswwe was the most talked about, coinciding with her draft to Raw and her first Women’s Championship title win in July.

IMPORTANT REMEMBER THAT

YOU ARE

A pedophile if you are sexually attracted to REAL LIFE prepubescent children

A rapist if you force sex or anything of a sexual nature onto A REAL LIFE person without their consent

A abuser if you physically beat A REAL LIFE person or emotionally abuse someone

YOU ARE NOT

A pedophile if you ship characters together that are younger or a ship something with a age gap

A rapist if you ship something considered “problematic”

A abuser if you post/draw/write about a ship that is considered “problematic”

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST

Understand the difference between FICTION vs REALITY.
One thing Anti’s like to say to counter people who ship “problematic” thing is that

“oh well if you want representation in fiction or that when a /insert thing here/ is wrong you get all upset!!! See fiction does effect reality”

I need you all to know that yes shows or books and things like that do effect reality to a point, but just because things CSI or Criminal Minds or any horror movie ever made exists doesn’t mean that all of a sudden crime and murder just started happening more. Why should I hate and not support things like Killing Stalking just because it shows “problematic” things?
This is where the fiction vs reality thing comes in to play.
Just because you see a movie/show/video game or anything do something
IT DOESN’T PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DO THOSE THINGS
Yes there are very very impressionable people out there who see something like GTA and are like “yup I’m gonna steal a car now” but just because a few people are stupid doesn’t mean we should censor everything and act like art is something that must be moderated.
If someone sees some fluffy fanart of JD/Veronica and genuinely thinks that their relationship is something completely healthy and normal then they probably take a second and then learn some things about the real world.
Does this mean we should get rid of that nice fluffy fanart because a few people are too stupid to understand that’s not how things actually work?

N o

We shouldn’t punish and shame and hide art because it doesn’t fit into a few peoples ideal.
Everyone has the right to draw or write anything they want as long as they can tell the difference between their art and the real world.

FINAL POINTS

You don’t need to have been raped or abused previously to ship “problematic” things because its a “coping” method.

Understand the difference between lines on a paper or pixals on a screen from a living, breathing, actual human being.

Don’t tell someone to “kill themselves” or that their “rapists” “abusers” “pedophiles” because they ship something you don’t like.

Don’t tell people who just say they don’t ship something that their “attacking people” or anything like that.

If someone ships something you don’t like or you see something that triggers you
BLOCK THE PERSON
BLOCK THE TAG
B L O C K
That mechanism exists for a reason.

Ship what you ship.

Don’t ship whatever you want.

Just don’t actually hurt or attack anyone

Stop being dicks to each other and just get on with your life.

[!] Please Read.

To say that we wish there was another much nicer way that we could do this is an understatement. Though a group of writers involved in this incident have come to the agreement that this must be done not only for the sake of the people who are a part of these networks, but also to let the general public, their and our readers, know of this situation and who the people that they are idolising really are.

So, without further ado, welcome to the truth about the Penetration Station:

anonymous asked:

So why is Chris Evans nicknamed Dorrito? Sorry I just don't know lol

Don’t worry, anon, I’m going to help you as best as I can.

Once upon a time - more than three years ago - the great Chris Evans was found a new nickname. After ‘Cevans’, we were all graced with the comparison of his body to a Dorito. #heart of gold and shoulder waist ratio of a dorito. It reached a peak after Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Why? Because he is the human Dorito. Look at his shoulder to waist ratio. It’s triangular.

I know right? A real Dorito. That is why every time I reblog Chris, it’s tagged as “My beloved Dorito”.

There’s a particular post on Tumblr that became so popular that the idea gained artists who began to add the Dorito!Steve Rogers or Dorito!Chris Evans to their fan works just for fun. It’s still especially featured in fanfictions.

You know what, though? The nickname became so popular that Robert Downey Jr. called Chris a “Dorito” twice during SDCC 2014. Who knows for how long it’s actually been going on? They were filming Avengers: Age of Ultron at that moment, so I’m sure the cast and crew called him Dorito a lot of time on set!

In April 2015, the Doritos brand - in promotion of Avengers: Age of Ultron - had a Steve Rogers/Captain America “Cool Ranch” bag.

And do you know how Chris reacted? Because there’s something you wanna know about him. He’s a simple guy, he loves Doritos chips. He loves them. He thought it was a life goals!

That same year, when he was promoting the movie with his fellow co-stars, he had the chance to taste his Doritos with his friend Chris Hemsworth and the video made the world go crazy.

That is how the legend of Dorito!Chris Evans was born, my friend.

Next year when I live in my own apartment I’m going to buy a really ornate sugar bowl and keep it somewhere where everyone who walks in can see it and I’ll never touch it, never look at it, never say anything about it, but if anyone reaches for it I’ll slap their hand away and say “NO YOU CAN’T HAVE THE SUGAR BOWL IT’S MINE, DO YOU KNOW WHAT I HAD TO GO THROUGH TO FIND THIS THING?????”

A couple reminders this #Blackout.

You HAVE to use the tags. Post your picture with the tags so more people can see them. That’s the way social media impressions work.

AND

You HAVE to SCROLL the tags and click ‘recent’. You cannot depend on only what you see on your dash because then only the most popular and widely circulated posts will be seen. You HAVE got to actually go into the #blackout and #blackoutday tags to everyone a shot at being seen.

AND

You cannot be so focused on getting your own content notes that you don’t give other people notes/shine. If everyone does that…well, nobody wins.
