Hajime listens passively between murmured conversations, gazing over people’s heads to numbly trail the passing city. Being the time that it was, Hajime found the subway overfilled with weary patrons; softly decorating the cramped compartment with talk of their day and other trivial musings. The sparse and minuscule spaces between were laden with a mix of body heat and smells that had become so familiar to Hajime that he no longer graces them with second thoughts. Instead, his second thoughts are spent drifting somewhere across the sea, searching for slender fingers and the echo of a twinkling laugh he can no longer remember. He sighs softly to himself, uncomfortably fingering the handhold and continues to gaze longingly out of the window.

Most of us guessed that Navy would end up betraying everyone by the end of the episode.

I don’t think most of us expected that having her go from this:

to this:

would be really good for Lapis’ mental health.

And despite certain people’s fears about certain story boarders… this was actually very much in character for her. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that Lapis has always been cynical, even in her pre mirror days. After she escaped she went from cynical to detached and apathetic. Not an unexpected defense mechanism for someone who was trapped in an inanimate object for 6,000 years. But she has made progress. She trusts Steven and Peridot. Enough not only to express her concerns, but to essentially make a confession.

Life on Earth is really confusing. It took me a long time to get use to it. I’m still getting use to it.

Given everything that’s happened to her on Earth, it’s only natural that she’s having a hard time adjusting. But she’s just confessed her biggest insecurity: she knows she’s having a hard time dealing with what she’s been through, while having to get use to to living a normal life on the planet where her greatest traumas happened. Before the rebellion she would have done her job and left for the next planet, Earth having been a distant memory by this time. But now she can never leave. Earth has to become home.

She wants to move on, but feels guilty about how difficult actually doing that is.

So here comes this I-Insta-Love-All-Things-Earth ruby, who seems freakishly well adjusted from the moment she crashes face first into the planet. Never mind that she was lied to not once, but twice, by the crystal gems. Never mind that she was blasted out into space and abandoned while they stole her ship. All is instantly forgiven and she just wants to be a part of their happy family.

Worse yet? The people Lapis cares most about just buy it. They go right along with it as though Navy’s behavior is perfectly normal. It took time for Lapis to even begin to be okay with the idea of living in Earth and forgiving the crystal gems- she’s still working on it, and it’s painful. She’s worked so hard for every inch of progress she’s made, and here’s someone who’s seemingly able to move on the same day they got to Earth.

I just don’t get it. Why is it so easy for her when it was so hard for me?

So when the perfectly well adjusted Navy turned out to be a gleeful sociopath  gleefully hell bent on revenge, everything fell into place.

Navy’s sudden but inevitable betrayal was the best thing to happen for Lapis’ mental health to date.

So what’s the take away from this? 1) People react differently to trauma. 2) Just because someone seems well adjusted doesn’t mean they are. 3) It’s okay to take a long time to heal from your traumas. It’s okay for it to be a constant work in progress. It’s okay not to be okay.

And at the end of the day, that realization can almost feel like happiness.

You’re sitting in the theatre. Everything is perfect. It’s accurate, it’s visually stunning, everyone is on point. It’s a perfect adaption. The title flies on screen.

How the FUCK did an anime from the FUCKING 90s manage to be more fucking progressive than like 90 percent of the anime produced today

In EVANGELION you had:

-super competent female SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS who were not treated as moral support or just cheerleaders they did actual fucking science

-they knew what the fuck they were doing and yes they had sex and had sexual desires but fuck, man, it was treated as a part of being HUMAN.

-the anime mom who DIES for character development, LMAO, swerve bitch, she’s the most iconic image of evangelion and she’s badass as hell

-ALSO? Her husband took her fucking name. Ikari is HER name

-weird alien who doesn’t seem to care about gender. falls in love with shinji. it’s reciprocated. fuck you, it was the NINETIES. God BLESS evangelion.

-Asuka Langley was a fucking teenage girl who acted like one. So was Shinji. These kids are traumatized and anxious as fuck cuz the entire world is relying on them. Y'all bash em both but fuck you, you would piss yourself in an Eva suit, get at me.

-did I mention Ritsuko is the head scientist and Misato is the director of the iconic Eva projects?

-Like seriously, no one talks about this, but Ritsuko is a mechanic, a computer programmer, and an extremely complex, interesting character with a unique view of life and relationship with her own parents.

-DID I MENTION YUI IKARI IS A KICKASS BIOMECHANICAL ALIEN MONSTER THAT IS THE SINGLE MOST ICONIC IMAGE OF EVANGELION

-AND THAT SHE KEPT HER MAIDEN NAME

why the fuck

Does anime fail so hard nowadays, Christ, what was going on in the nineties…

Shout out to all of you having a tough time right now
  • Whether you’re struggling to make content
  • Feeling lost or alone
  • Having an identity crisis
  • Not feeling like yourself
  • Dealing with the loss of someone you love
  • Or going through personal issues that feel like they just won’t end

I love you and you’re doing great. Just remember, a journey is not a straight road. It is littered with mountains and rocky edges and cliffs that sometimes feel too high to climb. But you’re going to get past them, and continue on. You’re doing great. You’re valid. I love you.

Please stop praising Taylor Swift for “reclaiming the snake”.

She got caught out in several lies and STILL continued to play the victim (don’t even get me started on how she’s played into the innocent white female narrative) - something she’s built her whole damn career on.

What she’s doing by “reclaiming the snake” is pretty much saying she has nothing to apologise for. And YET AGAIN making herself out to be someone to be pitied and to rally behind because she’s so brave and she’s the underdog. It’s frustrating and embarrassing and the fact that she’s STILL using this whole narrative just shows that she hasn’t learned anything.

joss whedon potentially being the first person to define the characterization of dceu dick grayson sounds like a literal nightmare to be perfectly honest… dick is exactly the kind of character joss would LOVE to get his grubby little hands on and exactly the kind of character he’d fucking ruin and i just cant deal with that
