Spaceship Earth, Fountain of Nations & Rain by Matthew Cooper Via Flickr: This shot of Spaceship Earth and the Fountain of nations is a popular one and one I’ve done myself as well. The rain really helps take it to another level though I feel. The wet saturated neon reflecting on the ground is really great in person and brings a new character to the area.
This was shot with the Nikon D810 and Nikon 14-24 2.8. I shot at a normal standing height for this shot so that I would be able to see Spaceship Earth over the fountain and all of the good reflections were still visible on the sides anyway. I used 2 exposures from a 5 shot bracket to create my base layer and then did quite a bit of debris cleanup in the foreground. I color balanced the sky and then did some levels adjustments along with Nik Color Efex Pro Contrast. I did a very light Orton effect masked just to the reflections to add a bit more glow to them. Finally I denoised the sky and sharpened everything else.

Life is busy at SSE, and our grooms make life way easier for our riders. Oliver had tacked up SSE Mademoiselle and made her ready for exercising with Dean. Dean, who came back from the indoor arena with Zinober, tried to push the curious grey stallion’s head away from the rather unwelcoming mare. “Maddie”, who is a typical chestnut mare, is known for having a temperament and she often snaps her teeth after the other horses. Better save Zinober from that!
